My girls would like to know if LW make fesh pancakes at breakfast..We went Hb on holidays the past couple of years and they just loved them!
Also do you have to put your toilet paper in the bin rather than flushing it and is tap water ok for brushing teeth?
8 days to go..
Yes you can flush loo paper, no need to use the bin!
Not too sure about the tap water as 3 of us were ill with sickness & diarrohea during our 2nd week, not sure where it had come from but possibly the jugs of water on the tables with ice in as our 2 youngest never drank from these and they were the only 2 in our party who weren't ill. A few other families we had spoken to there the same 2 weeks as us also had sickness & diarrohea, so something was def going round. I would air on the side of caution and drink from bottled water only (you can buy this at only 1.25 euros from any bar for a large bottle), but the water is supposed to be filtered, we ran a bath one night and the water was brown...the same water you brush your teeth with! The sickness could have been anything but I personally would use bottled water if ever we went back just as a precaution.
Thats great Twinkletoes my girls will be so pleased.
Darreng - When I saw your post I had a look at that other site and read their latest bunch of reviews.
£2,000 for a week for 6 people . Perhaps they were ordering the a la carte wines every evening and drinking Jack Daniels and coke all day long. It does sound a lot. Hubs and I do like a few drinks and, although I have to say we did make the most of the beer and wine with lunch and dinner, I'm sure we spent about £400 for 2 weeks for 2 adults and 2 kids (one being 13yrs). This didn't cover any trips, or paragliding or days out. We also had a few celebratory evenings with friends we met with birthdays and had several rounds of cocktails on a couple of evenings - so we didn't scrimp or anything. Perhaps prices have gone up (as I think a lot of people are saying they have in Turkey).
As far as I'm aware LW is a 4 star "plus" hotel and I think it definitely deserves that. I think some tour operators sell it as 5 star though and their customers may have too high expectations. I've stayed in half a dozen 5 star hotels in various countries and the standard of hotel has varied enormously. In some areas I think LW maybe should get 5 stars but if you're expecting complimentary white fluffy slippers and robes, LCD televisions in the rooms and your own concierge you may be dissappointed! One reviewer said they hadn't seen a "tube" TV for years. Oh dear, I have several in my house. And someone said the food was bland ... I thought the food was fantastic (and I'm a bit of a foodie). And someone else said it was like a "posh Butlins" ... Well everyone has their own standards and opinions and the world would be a duller place if we were all the same etc etc etc.
My only moan is that they don't have tea/coffee making facilities in rooms - but I bring my own travel kettle and fave teabags so that's that sorted!
Have to say I think its a good idea to check your room bill every couple of days AND keep receipts for drinks etc. Hubs pointed out that last year a few large rounds of drinks and coffees etc were on our bill which we hadn't purchased! It's easier to keep a check every couple of days than leave it till the end of the holiday. Friends we made also had a mistake with their bill - they were charged tax at the point of paying for their drinks and then charged tax again on the whole of their bill! All sorted out by reception staff in the end though.
Happy holidays!

My kids luuuurved pancakes every morning for breakfast - before moving on to cereal, croissants and fresh fruit! They weren't keen on the savoury pancakes from the little old ladies in the cave in the afternoon though . I don't know how else you could describe it either - Bedouin tent type thing? Anyway, fascinating to watch them make them and I thought they were delish.
I am trying to book orange cars for the transfer from dalaman airport to lykia wolrd but cannot get thru their web site
are the airport taxis the same price as i will be arriving at 6pm and by the time i get luggage it will be all of 9pm before we get to LW with thomas cook bus. so i need to book a transfer. sorry briar but i need some advice of some of our fellow travellers
please can anyone help
gregg
Well, please be sure to tell the reps on arrival that you have arranged your own transfer. That was what held us up in May, waiting for people who never showed up! Happened again on the return trip to the airport. Apart from that, it was a speedy transfer by minibus with First Choice.
Mehmeh - How long did it take with FC?
It was about an hour to our first drop-off at a petrol station in Fethiye. This was for Letoonia, they were then taken on separately. Then I think about another half-hour to LW, including one drop in Olu Deniz. But to be honest I can't remember exactly. It seemed quick. The only way a taxi would have been quicker is it would have cut out the wait for the people who vanished without trace!
http://www.hamishmcturk.com you will find his e mail address on there
Gregg, We used Hamish McTurk for our private transfer, his driver was very friendly and turned up spot on time both ways, our flight outward was delayed by 3 hours, but he was there waiting with our name on a board when we arrived at Dalaman. No probs at all with him. here is his web address less than 3 weeks to go
tickets still not arrive yet tho but should have then this week - hopfully
ps
I have booked him twinkletoes - cost will be £40
Is it that long till you go?...ages away im away on monday.
gregg, Glad you got that sorted and mamajama I am so jealous....wish we were back there, temps look VERY hot 40degrees plus
Twinkletoes i noticed the temps 40+ according to the HT weather forum. I usually use the wunderground site and sitting at mid 30s. i know someone who came back from marmaris about 4/5weeks ago and they said they had to buy fleece's it was so cold
PS: Lykia even had the air conditioning switched on and according to their brochure it's not supposed to be on until mid June, we were glad it was too as our room was west facing and got all the afternoon sun so was stiffling at bedtime, mind you I didn't think it was that efficient but maybe they didn't have it turned on very high with it being early season still
Arriving early hours of 18th July and meeting friends arriving day before.
Has anyone used the golf facilities? Any ideas on charges for clubs / shoes etc? Opening times?
My 6 yo daughter will be mad for the ww rafting - doyou know if she will be safe / allowed to take part?
Might be better off playing after a lunch time bottle or two with my swing but guess it will be a bit hot by then.
Would appreciate any help on this - back to preparing knotted hankies to keep the rays off!
I'm afraid I can't help you with the golf, but regarding the white water rafting, our boys wanted to do this with the kids club but it was a 2 hour journey there and back again just to get to it so we decided against letting them go as we thought it would be long day for them, I would have thought more so in July with the heat for a 6 year old would prob be too much. This took part only once during our 2 week stay with the kids club on a Sunday if that's any help but of course it could change
I don't think the golf course has shoes. You really need to go round twice as the course doesn't take very long.
Anyone returning from this hotel please assist your fellow holidaymakers by writing your review here
