Forgot to say -
TWO WEEKS thursday!
Sorry tightwad - forgot to say that my leaflet thingy says CAT4 rooms are either in Block K, P, P1 or T. A bit further away from the main "hub" but probaby quieter.
They are doing the 'white night' again this year, so you all need to pack your white outfits, as well as your black and white outfits and your black and red outfits, for the gala nights.
Last year there was also a tropical beach party night which we're looking forward too this time - if its still on! We've never been away in July/August and (bit scared now!) hope it's not toooo hot/busy!!! Can anyone who's been in school summer hols comment please???
We went in August two years ago. It was the last two weeks and a kids club chap said to me at the bus stop 'last week I had 40 kids, this week I've got 4!'. It was noticeable how the place emptied out of holidaymakers and was replaced by conferences. The European schools all go back earlier than ours do. But late July will obviously be peak time and full. It was full this year at half-term when we went, but this didn't seem to be a problem. So I wouldn't worry about that. But obviously it will be very hot. We thought we were avoiding the great heat by going earlier this time. However it was 35 deg most of the time even in May!
We were also there during May half term week this year and the week after (1st week in June) and the difference in 'busy ness' was obvious during our 2nd week when the Marina was still half empty at 8pm and sunbeds around the pools were still plentiful even at noon! At one point our kids were the only ones in the residence pool mid afternoon 2 days before we left! Whereas the first week you couldn't get sunbeds and had to be at the Marina by 6.45. The 2nd week was definitely more relaxed as a result of not having to 'rush' to be somewhere or to get a sunbed and as mehmeh said the weather was also very hot. There were alot more Russians during our 2nd week too so I guess the 1st week must've been full of Brits with it being half term week here.
Hi all, we go to Lykia World on 25th July & we're all getting very excited now !! Having read some of the earlier posts, am a bit worried about avoiding tummy bugs so will try to avoid tap water, especially for the kids - can you get sealed bottled water in the restaurants or do they just serve so called 'filtered' water ? does anyone know where this 'filtered' water comes from ?
tap water though. We use bottled water in the room.
(Personally, I don't think there is a problem with Lykia's water. We all drank it and were fine. The people who reported being ill did not get test results showing a problem, so probably just had the tummy bug which has been going around lately. However obviously that's just my opinion!)
You can buy sealed bottled water at the bars, or more cheaply in the shops in the towns if you are out and about. However I suspect you might have trouble getting the message across of what you wanted in restaurant, because if you ask for water, they will bring you a jug full as usual. If you don't want the children to drink it, there is always the fruit squashes and the fizzy drinks. We don't drink the (Personally, I don't think there is a problem with Lykia's water. Hi Victor Meldrew, 15.75 days to go. 36.6 degree's today. Did you do your homework before you booked this one! Is there a summer breeze? Are the pools cold enough to keep body temp down or will we be dehydrated (heat and alchohol). How is the Lykia World House Red Wine and Beer..everyone..
The red house wine is called Dikman -yes really. It goes down very well. Beer was Tuborg last time I was there but I think they change it from time to time. When we started going it was Efes.
only 4 sleeps to go
leave home sunday night to get to gatwick and fly monday morning.
been watching weather reports and i am going to be like a beetroot - yes thats it all of you laugh, one tomatoe going into the marina

Had a great time allround happy to answer any questions .
i have to agree with all your comments, the food, entertainment, rooms etc are fab , maybe 1 day we will go back there
Just a couple of questions - is there shade available around the pools and the beach?
What time did you have to arrive at the Marina to get a table? (although I suppose it will be getting busier all the time now )
Thanks.
There is a shaded area at the residence main pool & beach .I had a problem in my 2nd week getting loungers with umbrellas but was soon sorted when the pool boy done his rounds if you ask him to get you a bed or umbrella he would just move one which wasnt being used and bring it from one side of pool to other. If you like pool games & plenty activity by the pool go to main village pool or residence i found a bit more chilled
The marina got very busy by 8pm i recommend you get yourself down there as soon as it opens. Most of the people seated there sat there all night . we ate there about 4 times as we were never out till about 8pm.Also the village restraunt staff tend to close off some dining areas by putting chairs in doorways one night it took us 15 mins looking for table i gave in and opened one of the closed areas myself but the staff were always there saying no no closed i had to stand my ground and say where are we going to eat? so would give in and let you sit there
Thanks mamajama Really looking forward to it now.
Hi all, heading off to Lykia on Fri 25 July for 2 weeks, just wondering is anyone else going with a teenage daughter aged around 14? Our daughter's just turned 14 and isn't too keen on going to the teen club but she's still looking to make a few pals while she's out there - save her hanging about with us boring old foggies and means we can go to the adults only pool for a couple of hours each day !!!
Were you at Lykia World same time last year? How did you find mealtimes/marina/sunbed scramble???
anice
We were there the same time last year and didn't have much of a prob with sunbeds, but that might have been because we spent most of our time at the Children's Paradise and always seemed to manage to get beds. We also didn't have much of a problem eating in any of the restaurants which was a bit of a surprise as there were 8 of us in total, we used to go down usually after 8 and the longest we had to wait at the Marina (our favourite!) was about 10 mins. We always managed to get a table in the Residence straight away. Hopefully we'll be just as lucky this year although we're going to make a conscious effort to spend more time at the village pool because that's where most of the action seems to happen - think its a bit more manic there though and think we may struggle to get 8 sunbeds together there !!!!
just back from lykia world,
had a great time, weather was fab, saying that we had two storms on friday and saturday afternoon being windy and a little rain but there was thunder and lightening over hisaronu area in the evening around 8pm but the stroms only lasted for 2 hours.
theres been a few changes, the spa is more expensive and the shows are not as good asthey used to be over the last few years, however, the food is still the same - exellent !! and the staff are GREAT even tho there are new faces around the resort.
anyone who needs to know more - please contact me and i will help where i can.
also travel from Dalaman airport via a private transfer use Hamish Mcturk - recommended by twinkletoes and now myself - only took just over 1 hr both ways, for example we landed at 18.10 and was in the restuarant eating at 19.40pm where those who got the thomas cook coach got to resort at 21.40pm. PAY THE EXTRA ITS WORTH IT !!
Have fully booked my holiday already for next year and now counting down !! LOL
duty free prices - benson cigs £85 at gatwick £79 at Dalaman for 1000 ( 5 x 200 )
also the Dalaman airport is completely NO SMOKING
