Duly noted for arrival next Friday.. any idea which Terminal 'welcomes' Aer Lingus daily flight from Belfast?

Hi Jim
As Liz says, it seems to be Terminal 3 or there abouts, I thought I knew Malaga Airport inside out, but I had no idea where I was heading and like a sheep I just followed the crowd to the baggage reclaim area, but coming home after checking in at Terminal 2, you have to trek over to terminal 3 for security....you don't leave the building, it's just a walk from one side of the whole building to the other end, and another trek which will be determined by the gate number you depart from on the airside of the building.......I wish I'd had the time to take some photos, then it would be easier to explain, but alas I didn't know I was going to be kept standing for an hour at the gate.

Edit for typo errors, I can't spell today.

You get on the train at the airport and the stations are as follows.....
Airport
San Julian
Plaza Mayor
Los Alamos
La Colina
Torremolinos
Montemar Alto
El Pinillo
Benalmadena/Arroyo de Miel
Torremuelle
Carvajal
Torreblanca
Los Boliches
Fuengirola.

For the Gardenia Park, you get off the train at Torreblanca.
At the moment due to the work being carried out, when you are stood on the platform facing the tracks, the train to Fuengirola arrives from the left...directions to the hotel can be found in this thread.

Alighting the train at Torreblanca station, make a sharp left up the steps at the side of the Torreblanca Hotel... turn right towards the front, crossing over the road at some piont before reaching the roundabout at the bottom.. looking up left from there, you will see the Gardenia Park...take the crossing to the sea side of the main road and its a 3-4 minute walk from there.
Bus stops outside on either side of road will take you into Los Boliches and Fuengirola.. to Benalmadena and Torremolinos in the other direction.
May I also recommend a great little bar to the rear of the hotel, the Red Dragon.. good food, very hospitable, wall to wall sport on TV if that's your thing and internet access.
Going back out that direction this time four weeks and can't wait...
Hope that helps
Regards

JG

PS... make sure you have euro coins for the ticket machine at the airport station halt.. fare is around 1.80 (I think)...

The new suburban train station forming part of the new Terminal T3 building is now open and saw the first train arrive a couple of days ago.
It's basic at the moment until the work is completed, but it means no more lugging cases across the iron bridge and then up the flight of steps to the platform......my OH and his hernia are pleased.

At the moment the new station will have provisional access only from the exterior arrivals area until the adjoining building work is finished. The arrivals area can be reached through the Terminal or via the transportation hub which leads to the pedestrian footbridge to the car park buildings and to the bus station.

Well done for getting this operational at last because it's been a right pain in the bum using the 'old' track, and why they never dumped a load of concrete over those steep steps to the platform and made it into a ramp, I will never know now.!
I'll be trying it out on Thursday morning :tup .

That airport is a nightmare at the moment, we found it very stressful, both inbound and outbound,,they need to sort it, to much walking far to long to baggage and to coach transfer...and coming back check in then along walk to gate and found that I was back in T2...stupid place..

You're only walking because you're having to go through T3 security because once they got T3 security up and running, they closed the security area in T2 for refurbishment/upgrade....which it needed.

Once the security area upgrade in T2 is done and back open, there will be no need for passengers using T2 to trek over to T3.
It just means a longer walk and allowing more time because ATM every passenger departing Malaga Airport has to go through the scanning area in T3, which gets busy and bottle necked at certain times, but it will ease off once T2 security is back operational.
But it's welcomed news to know the new railway station is now operating.

I don't remember there being different terminals in Malaga airport :really We will be ariving from Cardiff, does anybody know which trminal we'll arrive at and also do we use the same terminal on the way back. I need to get sorted in my head where we need to go for the return departure as we're going diy so will probably arrive from the hotel in a taxi and won't have the security of following the crowd off a transfer bus.

No rush for an answer, I've got until Easter :rofl

Hi Shirley
Things will change before next Easter....which airline are you using.?
There are 3 terminals at Malaga Airport ( see previous link) and I would hazard a guess that you'll be using T2 because flights from the UK are non-schengen, and the plan was for low cost flights and non-schengen traffic to use T2 ....T1 will eventually be closed to passengers and used for cargo.

You'll check in at T2 and if the security area in T2 is not opened by next Easter, you have to walk to T3 and then once through the security area, you walk back to your gate number to T2 airside.

Sanji will you be using the train, if so, could you post exactly how you get from airport exit to train platform, i know there is still the road to cross, but hope after that, its a direct walk :think IF you have your camera a few pic's would be great :tup

Cannot wait for all the tracks to be finished, and we get the promised 3 trains every hour :sun2

Enjoy your stay, i have only been there once in Sept for the San Mig/Feria, but loved watching your 4 video's, sort of felt like i was there again.... :)

Hi Davanne
Thanks for the comments on the videos. :tup
The plan is to use the train to El Pinillo station, but I'll make no promises at this stage and we'll assess the situation at Malaga because Dave is scheduled to go into hospital for surgery a few days after we get back, in fact, I think carrying two suitcases weighing approx 18 kgs each up the flight of stairs at Torremolinos station because the escalator wasn't working, is probably what gave him the hernia....so I'll have to go with want he wants to do....but the plan is to use the train and I will be observant.

Yes it is good news for passengers that are using the train to where there going we always go on a package holiday and that new trek to the coach station is ridiculus they havent thought of pensioners who have walking difficulties,,my mum has said she will not return to fuengirola the airport has put her of going...we did have wheelchair assistance from getting off the plane to baggage, its after that the walk to coach is madness, and long...ok for someone like me who is able bodied...one thing I will mention is they dont do buggies anymore which I think is just pathetic, my mum hated the wheelchair and the woman pushing her was like a woman posessed...5 people waited on our plane for the assitance we waited 30 mins, they didnt have enough wheelchairs!! what a joke...they need to sort out this, and i think bring back them buggies, the other year we had one as the stewardess phoned to malaga and requested one for my mum, it was a breeze, and we all got on it ,all 3 of us..the only good thing about malaga now is the duty free was really reasonably priced.19.95 euro for a bottle of moshino, angel ..the food area is a nightmare too, queue after queue especially burger king atleast 50 min wait, and when you have to walk 10 miles to your gate you dont have enough time to queue for food...i actually like the old food court at T2, yeh expensive but no queues last august,.so guys if you want food, dont bother at T3, unless you wanna stand in a hot sweaty queue for upto 40 mins..not worth it for nearly 10 euros for BK burger and chips.take food with you..and yeh no air conditioning in the terminal in august..it was boiling hot..
