dksbbs,
Thanks both for answering my query, I thought that was the case but was never 100% sure.
I have just been told that you now have to use a £1 coin to get a trolly now at the airport. Is this to cut down on staff who had to collect them.Because you now take them back.
ive heard the same too leyland lass, just glad my cases have wheels if its true
I was wondering what the Main Duty Free shop is in terminal 2? I know there is no Alpha airport shopping so what is the alternative?
Thanks
Not only do you need a £1 coin for the trolleys, you also need a £1 coin if you have any liquids at security. No longer are they giving them out free of charge but you have to buy one from a dispenser if (like me) you had an aerosol spray which I thought was legal but apparently not. I just left the aerosol there rather than paying for a plastic bag!
There's plenty of duty free shopping, don't worry!! The main duty free shop in T2 is Biza offering the same sort of range that Alpha does in T1. There's also the usual WH Smiths, Boots etc. They're listed on Manchester Airports website.

I haven't flown from Manchester for a good 4 years now.

You won't recognise the place now then!
Darren
I bet I wont I have a memory of what Terminal 1 use to look like but I bet its nothing like that now, I would love to be flying from there be going from Terminal 2 which is a new experience for me also.
T1 has totally changed! We were amazed at Easter, there is no "landside" area at all now, you go straight from check-in to security and from security you come out into what used to be the "landside" shops area. Then you HAVE to go through Alpha Duty Free to get to the area where the gates are - as a girlie with a crippling shopping habit, I had to power-walk through there with blinkers on... There's some nice new bars upstairs once you go through to what used to be the smaller "airside" area. One thing I would recommend to anyone using T1 - if you need to buy anything from Boots or WHSmith, use the ones as soon as you get through security (in the old "landside" area) - the ones after that were very crowded when we were there and people were queueing out of the doors just to buy a few bits and bobs - I ended up walking back through Alpha (again with blinkers on...) to go back to the quieter ones to buy a newspaper and some chewing gumz.j.c wrote:I have a memory of what Terminal 1 use to look like but I bet its nothing like that now
As for T2 - when we were there last summer we went straight from check-in to a new upstairs security area, then back downstairs to the shops and bars - not as impressive as T1 but still better than any airport at most holiday destinations!
Does Thomas Cook have a set priority check in desk in Manchester Airport? (Terminal 1 I think we have to check in)
David
Thomas Cook use desks 1 - 13 (T1) with desk 1 assigned to premium customers (normally).
Darren
Thanks dazbo5.
I've just arranged a last minute holiday with TC , going from T1 on Sunday - where is the Thomas Cook ticket desk in relation to the checkout desks please, we have to pick up our tickets before checking in for the 05.35 Malaga TC flight. We will be arrivng at about 2am , is there much open at that time of night? We will need breakfast before boarding as we haven't booked meals on the flight, are Boots and wh smith open too?
The ticket desk is on the left hand side as you go in to T1, oposite the check-in desks. There won't be much open at that time of day, things will just be starting to open. The main duty free shop will be open and the main food outlet, but that's about all. Boots and WH Smith don't open until about 5am, you'lll be boarding then!
Darren
Thanks Darren - that's a bit crap then, I was planning to get some sarnies/snacks from boots and a mag or two from smiths, looks like I'll be stocking up on Saturday then - if smiths isn't open, where can you get the large bottles of buxton water or similar from? Or is it a case of vending machines with over priced 500ml bottles? The "swear" TC desk had better be open then!!
Just take your own food with you. You're lucky to be taking off prior to 6am, that's normally the time flights can take off from for noise abatement. The TC desk will be open, don't worry! You can get bottles of water from the main food outlet, I'm not sure what sort it is though. It all tastes the same to me anyway!
Darren
I would prefer a taxi but the prices from york are steep so it looks like car parking for us.
Ive checked Secura park, mosshouse parking and got some quotes of skypark secure.
I want someone how is going to collect us promptly at about 2am as ive 2 kids so dont eant to be hanging about really.
