On your flight into Goa you will be given an Embarkation card which you MUST fill in and hand over with your passport when going through the Goa visa check, just to let them know which flight you have got off and where you boarded, how long you are going to stay and where - silly really as you have already let them know that applying for the visa + you may have boarded the plane mid-air via parachute - ha ha.
On the same form is a tear off slip that you fill in and hand to the customs guy (if they bother to take it off you ) on this you have to state how much duty free allowance you have brought into Goa, even if you declare nothing then put - 0.
Occasionally they will pull someone to one side and do a bag search (not normally your suitcase) if you have more duty free than you have stated, you will have them taken off you.
As mentioned good Vodka is cheap as are cigarettes, so don't take them from the UK.
Kazz Smirnoff is dirt cheap in Goa will be less than £10 for 2 bottles but if you do get it in Goa you won't be able to take it in your hand luggage unless you get it duty free at Dabolim on the way home. I always take a bit of bubble wrap then wrap it in a sarong then a carrier bag and stick in the middle of my case havnt had a broke bottle yet...touch wood
Thanks guys, This is all good Its just a matter of time now I can't wait..... now one more question Is it American Dollar's that is also used only Work are getting me some as a present I'm not sure which is best to ask for lol xxx
My personal choice would be GB sterling, I like to know what i am getting to the pound rather than doing conversions in my head!!(which i would probably get wrong anyway).
Ha ha yes your right I should have sterling but its work and a present and I'm likely to spend it unless its in Dollars lol xxx
I would rather have GB Sterling too. We usually bring loads back from Goa with us but I am never tempted to spend it. I put it away wih my passport and it is a nice surprise when I count it up next time I go on holiday.
I'm going to get hold of Halifax's new credit card called Clarity, there is 0 charge for cash withdrawals anywhere in the world! That's gotta be good?
We have had too many problems with cashpoints in Goa, it is very scary when you can't get any money out and you have bills to pay.
I usually take my money about half in sterling cash and half in sterling travellers cheques, like Brenliz we used Valeries Travel in Calangute for exchanging the cheques , the rates there were pretty good, you will need to take a passport for the first time you exchange a cheque but they photocopy it so you don't have to take it with you thereafter.
Rate is slowly still on the up and today is 1.00 GBP = 76.2809 INR thats on XE.com
78.497 to the £ on xe are you getting that over there,:- hope you are.
