sent mine off on the 6th and recieved it today, but have a question, is the photo supposed to be on there? or why did we need to send 2 photos, is there a swipe system where our faces come up?
im just worried that we have the wrong one even though im just a worrier anyways.
and we didnt send off the 2 pounds either!
No, there isn't a photo with the visa.
It will just be a stuck-in page with a green stamp on it.
Not sure what they do with all those photos, though.

My OH was born in south african although he left when he was one and therefore he has a BRITISH passport.
It says that South africans nationals do NOT have to pay processing fees. Is this the case for my OH?????????????
Secondly, i have an IRISH passport although i was born in England. To avoid the additional fee i have to prove that i have lived in england for over a year (i have lived here for 24 yrs). What could i use as proof as i havent got my own house, could i use the end of tax statement?
I don't know the answer to your questions, but if you don't get an answer here, you could try asking the question of The High Commission of India on their website. They have a FAQ section within Visa Services that you can use to ask specific questions.
In my experience, they are pretty prompt and clear with their replies.

Good luck

My wife has a similar situation to yourself in that she holds an Irish passport but was born in UK, we also have to prove that she has been in UK living for at least a year (I think) I take with me a letter from her employer stating that she has been working for them for X years, this seems to be enough but I would also have to hand anything else such as domestic bills with name/address on to show them etc. As regard your other half I would certainly bet that they won't regard him as a South African unless he has dual nationality and a SA passport. Good luck with it all anyway, better to attend the Consulate yourself if possible as you have the ability to argue (discuss) you case if necessary.
Unfortunately, i am unable to go in person to the consulate buti have contacted them via the websitre and they have advised to enclose a year old bank statement.
Would it be advisable to duplicate this blacking out details such as account number?
Hi ! I'm not an expert on these matters but it makes sense to send them a bank statement (as you say block out account number) the usual trouble I have found is that if you ask several different people at the Consulate you are likely to get several different answers, if they don't have all the necessary proof they require they "may" telephone you to send additional proof, in any event I would make sure that you get your application to them in plenty of time to avoid any last minute panic. Good luck!
they have advised me to send a year old bank statement. Do i send the original and blank out the relavent account details?
I would.

Yes i think your right about it being a rip off (the visas that is)
It can add more than £100 on to your holiday, but as you say you save a lot when you get there.
