Hello, we're off to Goa with our 5 year old daughter in Feb for the first time to go to a friends wedding and a well earned holiday (well I think so anyway). Trying to fill in the visa forms today and looking for a bit of help. May be stupid question but who signs my daughters form, her or me? I am a better writerer if that helps any  .

Also the duration of visa question. Arriving 16th Feb leaving 2nd march, is that 14days or 15?

Thanks in advance, this is my first post but I have read through quite a bit esp hotels etc and found it very useful :D .

Birmingham visa office:-

there are spaces right outside but they are on a meter so you will have to feed them.............

You need to be early or else the que is massive, once processed you will have to go back (think it is after 2) to collect visa,

wrap up warm if its cold outside as its freezing in there..

hi bd2e
it would be you signing the visa for your daughter and just write on the visa forms that you are there from 16th feb till 2nd march i do that all the time with my visas and never had a problem

Thanks nikkie, that what we thought but its nice to have it confirmed. We will be abusing my fathers retirement and his free bus pass to get the visas so just trying to dot all the i's etc.

Much appreciated

We went to the visa surgery in Leeds on Saturday. Got there just after 9 and got the visas at 3. No additional £2 handling charge. Visa cost £40 and a free lunch was provided.

I posted my visa applications on Saturday the 14th and my passport was received by my local sorting office yesterday. As I was not in I collected it this morning.

I don't think this is bad as I was expecting to wait at least 15 days.

out of interrest, did you send your application to HCI in London or somewhere else?

Did you send £30 per application or did you include the £1 handling fee?

Thanks

Prettypollycat,

I sent our passports to the HCI in London and sent postal orders to the value of £62.

I'm just about to post my visa application and I have a copy of both forms and general information sheets. The date on the form asking for the £1 handling fee is 22/03/2002 (section H ) and the date on the form which doesn't mention the handling fee is 02/01/2005 (section G) If you go to the home page http://www.hcilondon.org and then go on to download the Visa form you get the 02/01/2005 no handling fee version. If you go directly to http://www.hcilondon.org/visadown.htm you get the 22/03/2002 £1 handling fee version. So now I've got a choice of what to do. Confusing or what?

Hi Gail
I found the information on the £1 handling fee here:
http://www.hcilondon.net/service-fee.html#visa

If you scroll down to 'Additional Charges', it mentions that there is £1 charge for all applications by post.

I didn't see this until after I'd posted my £60 for 2 visas and then read this thread.

If I was applying now, I think I'd add a further £1 per visa to be on the safe side.

Alternatively, ther is a FAQ section on the HCI website, you could post your query there.

Received our visas back this morning they took 8 days and I did not send the £1 handling fee. The visa form I used did not ask for an extra fee.

Hi Gail
just to let you know, our passports came back this morning all OK with the Visas. I just sent £30 each, no handling fee.

I posted the applications on Tuesday 17th January.

Cheers

Just for information - I sent 3 passports via special delivery to HCI London on the 19th January - along with the extra £1 per passport - They were returned complete with Visas yesterday.funny thing though the visas were stamped with the date 24th January - so had sat somewhere for at least 3 days before they bothered to post them...still got them now - thats one worry out of the way - roll April 9th!! :P

Sounds like it doesn't matter whether you send the £1 handling fee or not. (strange system!!) I posted mine with the fee last Fri so hopefully it won't be long until I get them back.
