If I go to one of the surgeries - Can I take my wife's and daughter's passport and visa application as well and get them processed myself?

Or do they have to be there in person?

Thanks.

No problem with how many passports you take to visa surgery. They give numbers out just make sure that you have a seperate number for each visa you require. Get there early, I went to Blackburn in December arrived about 7.30 and already 20 in queue before me. Good thing was I had visa by 10 am. The previous year I didn't arrive until 8.30 and didn't get out until 2.30. By the way they will only accept postal orders or bankers orders and they charge £40 at the surgeries.

At Huddersfield in October they were still accepting cash, but only because people had not been informed and many only had cash with them. I would take Po's and remember they charge a £10 procecssing fee making it £40 per visa.
Don't know if others have the same problem but the Sikh Community centre in Huddersfield is always bl..very cold!
Still they do provide free coffee!

are you sure its 30 pounds ,i am sure i read 30 pounds per person plus 1 pound handling charge , i know its only a 1pound more but would you please check in case ,,would hate to think you get them sent back for incorrect payment, unless ive payed the 1pound extra for not reading it right :D

no handling charge for postal application from london,i sent 3 x £20 postal orders so £60 for 2 visas. there is a small charge to buy the postal orders and you do have to do special delivery envelopes both ways but that was cheaper than the train fair into london.

lady jane, £30 each from the high commission or if you go to a visa surgery its £40.
there was a report a while ago that said the surgeries were charging £30+10 handling charge +1 for checking your paperwork, but when we got ours in november the odd pound had disaapeared anmd we were chargred £40 each total.
hope thats clear

I think the HCI website asks for an extra £1 for postal applications. I have just sent off £62 of postal orders for two visas.

Just to double check the £1 handling fee - it states it is to be paid on the IHC website but does not mention it on the application form,so which is correct ?
We have always paid the £1 but has this now been scrapped - or has anyone had forms returned for not paying the full amount ?

Hi Spike & Ladyjan

I've just (on Tuesday) sent off for our visas, sending just £60 in Postal Orders for 2 visas.

I've checked the forms downloadable from the HCI site (both Word and PDF formats) and can't see anywhere where it mentions the £1 handling fee. In fact, Ladyjan, the forms I have don't have section H 'Application by Post' , 'Application by Post' is section G.

I've looked on the HCI website under 'Visa Fee and Additional Charges' and I can see it is mentioned there - but it's a bit late in the day for me as I studiously read every word on the application form to ensure I got it right.

Could I somehow have got an old download? Both Word and PDF are dated 2/1/05.

Has anyone had their application returned because of not sending this £1 handling fee?

Thanks

when we got ours at the visa clinic I noticed that the forms they were issuing there were different to the ones I had downloaded.

Well this time i am just sending the £30 x 2 - i think i read someone had not sent the handling fee and had no problems, and yes for some reason there seems to be 2 application forms ?

I am with you Spike, I have scanned the form several times and cannot see where they are asking for £1 handling fee. I am sending mine by post today without the £1. Will let you know how I get on.
