Dear Kath04 and Valtosmythos,
Thank you for the info, I am relieved that we have picked the right spot for our first visit to the mainland. We went to Lesbos ( Molyvos ) 2 years ago and survived the walking.....as we were located by the castle at the top of the hill. What a beautiful place but you really have to be like a mountain goat.
The last 3 years we have travelled with Manos. The flights, accomodation and locations have been wonderful, the only downside has been their resort representatives. Does anyone know what the rep is like at Parga?
The last 3 years we have relied on mainly First Choice reps to hire cars and get useful info etc.
Never had any problems with Manos as a company.
seems everyone (or most) get bitten by the Parga bug!
Lets hope Twinklestar and the others are all convinced!.... and thanks also, I will give Skiathos a miss (I had heard it was expensive)
Hi Kelvin. It is nice that Parga is getting positive reviews but lets keep it quiet, dont want it to get too busy Think you are right to give Skiathos a miss. Don't get me wrong, we enjoyed the week we spent there but there isn't much to do other than hop on buses to get to the 13 or so beaches. OK if you are a beach lover. My friend loves Skiathos and prefers it to any Greek island or mainland (even Parga). Her and her partner, little girl and in-laws were with us in August and they enjoyed Parga but not enough to go back I can't believe they prefer Skiathos to Parga, we found Skiathos commercialised/cosmopolitan. I think it would appear to younger couples/singles. It is the first time ever we have been refused drinks at a bar (outside) because we had children with us Never mind, there are plenty of places that welcome children. Gail
We were in Skaithos in August and were amazed to find a MCDONALDS at the end of the main street. You should have taken your children for a big Mac and fries......that's authentic greek is'nt it. Please tell me that there is NOT a Mcdonalds in Parga
Hi Rhombus. OMG. I'd forgotten about McDonalds in Skiathos. No there is definitely no McDonalds in Parga, no Red Lion, Britannia, etc. Hope it always stays that way. Gail
Greek fast food - GYROS (washed down with a Mythos) mmmmmm lovely
What a relief that McDonalds has not found it's way to Parga. I am really looking forward to next year holiday to the mainland. And if you are right that Parga is as good as everyones say's, that's keep it quiet.
We stayed in the Nikitas apartments in June last year. If you want to see my trip report from the time, it's about half way down the page on this link. The apartments are not large (we had a 2 bedroom one) but clean, comfortable and in a lovely quiet spot. The beach is a short walk, there's a mini-market nearby and the centre af Parga can be reached by a 30 - 40 minute stroll or by water taxi from the centre of Valtos beach. We loved the place.

Thank you for your reply, I have already read your report on the Stoupa link. Funnily enough we had booked for the Mani apartments in Stoupa for August's (05) holiday. The report is on the stoupa link, but briefly, Manos contacted us in Mid april to withdraw the Mani Apartments as there were building works going on. They offered us other apartments next door to the " Iron Man of Stoupa " and we refused. The only available 2 Bed apartments were in Skaithos at the end of August/beginning of September. I take it that you are a regular at Stoupa ? Is it worth a try ?
Or is it being built up too much and is losing it's charm like Skiathos has become?
Hi Rhombus. Stoupa is definitely worth a try. Before we went to Parga, Stoupa was my favourite, after Kefalonia. Stoupa is beautiful. Didnt get to travel around too much cos my friend wasnt too keen on the drive through the mountains out of Stoupa. Stoupa is very Greek and uncommercialised but Parga is just that bit better!! Have you been to Finnikounda? Would love to try 2 centre, 1 week Stoupa, 1 week Finnikounda. Gail.
Hi Rhombus, I'm not so much a regular at Stoupa as I am on the camboard! I loved Stoupa and the Mani area and would definately go back but we do like to visit different places. I was very taken with Finikounda too, where we went this May - maybe my favourite so far. I think it would be easy to spend a lifetime of holidays exploring Greece.
Hi to all of you again.. I'm getting to be almost as regular on here as on Parga.com
McDonalds in Parga??........... it will NEVER happen! (and yes Gail I agree that we shouldnt tell the world about Parga.... we don't want it spoiled do we?....so the rest of your "mob" aren't so keen to go back though eh?)
and yes.. A Mythos and a Gyros makes a great midday snack I reckon.. and allows plenty of time to get back to the beach!
Hi Kelvin. The 10 of us that travelled to Parga together this year are booked for next year. My friend (who went with her partner, little girl and in-laws) aren't going back. They prefer Skiathos
Hi Gail.... I'm sure I posted a reply and further commentsd here... but I think they have benn deleted for some reason... I don't think I "broke the rules"...but maybe I did?
Perhaps it's wishful thinking and a hangover from 3 great weeks in Parga!
Anyone looking for flights for a Parga Christmas should have a look on the Parga.com website as there seems to be flights to Corfu going!
I've just become aware of this resort, it sounds idyllic! Can anyone suggest apartments with large pools?
Not sure how to go about DIY booking (is the flight direct?) so would prefer to use an operator, are there any others apart from Manos and Kosmar?
Mer
Booking Direct is easy!...look on the Internet for flights and you will always find accommodation there!
Direct Greece also go to Parga, they have some lovely accommodation there. Don't think many have pools though.
