Ah right Sagres - I think we might give it a miss then - however will still have to pay another visit for a look around. That's the thing sometimes with a car for 2 weeks - you miss what's under your nose.

Hi bazza we are there 2 weeks from about June 24th ish (can't remember exact date off hand  ) We stayed the first time and will be staying again this time in an apartment overlooking the Marina round the corner from the Sports bar (upstairs opposite Marina? ) Last time we stayed in a villa but it was up that hill (near where Sagres stayed) and I felt a little isoloated up there as there wasn't anything near at hand.

We do like the car mind you as it's handy for the supermarket and we like to tootle around and see different places. I've even thought about visiting Lisbon this time as it's supposed to be lovely. 8)

Glynis,
Lisbon's not the best city in the world to drive in;you can do it direct by express coach form Lagos (about €35 I think) if you prefer.

I think last time we were in Lagos we were talking to someone at the airport who'd been to Lisbon and they caught the train. Said it took about 3hours I think.....but the scenery was lovely. They did it in a day but I might be inclined to stay overnight. :glynis

Yep,you can do it by train Lagos-Tunes-Lisboa;it'll save the old man a few headaches ! :)

I would say go by train it is a nice trip and worth the money .The taxi drivers in Lisbon are also worth experiencing a trip in a Lisbon taxi is something you will never forget!

I think it's worth an overnight stay - avoids having to get up before dawn for 6am train or early bus. Lagos to Lisbon by train or bus is nearer 4 hours than three; round trip by bus €30.60 by train a little bit more.

Hi Welcome to HT :)

You probably need to tell members the kind of things you like i.e. quiet, busy, or something inbetween, how far you are prepared to travel from Faro. If you want apartments, hotels, or villas, do you like to do lots of trips, hire a car or just chill out etc

My friend is thinking of going to Faro. She is thinking of late May but is worried the weather might not be too good then. Her alternative month is July, late. I'm sure the temperatures must be really high by then? Anyone tell me will May weather be unpredictable or is it generally sunny but not as hot as later in the season?

The weather should be quite settled by the end of May with temps. in the mid 70's low 80's(old money :) )and plenty of sunshine.
If you log onto :-http://www.wunderground.com/global/stations/08554.html and go to the "History & Almanac link, you can enter the dates and check the actual weather for past years.
