braveheartlyn,

FCA332/3 is operated with a Airbus A320-214. All FCA flights depart from Terminal 2.

Hi all! flying with FC on 2/9 to Cancun from Manchester, have booked SCP, does anyone know if the complimentry headphones are the ones that go inside the ear, if they are will buy some before we go, would drive me nuts having those on for 10.5 hours, is just me or does anyone else find them uncomfortable
Reply
tarnlass,

The complimentory earphones provided with the pamporing packs are those that fit inside your ears. I hate them as well and always take my full size ones. If you do take your own, you'll need a twin mono to stereo adaptor. If you're flying SCP, you'll be provided with full size noise cancelling headphones.

Safe flights,

Darren

Thanks Darren, we are flying SCP so won't need to buy any more :D thanks for the quick reply

Hi Darren, is there a seating plan for first choice flying to the US booked for June next year and have taken the up grade.

Thanks Alan

AL38,

There isn't I'm afraid. I do have one but I can't post it here for copyright reasons. The closest I've seen to FCA's 763 is Hawiian's posted on Seatguru. From the L/R2 doors back, its pretty much the same as FCA's Star Class. There are 9 rows of SC Premium seating infront of those door rather than the exonomy / first seats shown on the plan.

I've linked cabin photo's on my light reviews to Cuba. There are several links over the previous pages.

I was looking on the First Choice website at some of the extra's you can get. We have already booked extra legroom and sit together seats and a late check-out room and then i saw that you can check in the day before.

So my question is has anyone ever done this?

I am abit worried about the bags going astray, i rang the number that is on the site and asked if the bags are kept in a secure area or if they just go in the general baggage area, and they are kept in first choice's own secure area and i also asked if they have more chance of being lost if you do it that way and she assured me that they haven't. I just can't make my mind up.

it would be nice to get to the airport and go straight through to departures with out having to stand there for ages, but the thought of my bags going missing,is doing my head in.

Please help

I've flown with FCA many, many times and have never had to wait long at check-in. They do seem to be particularly efficient.
Last time I flew with them from Gatwick (Monday 30th July) there was no queue at all, we just walked straight into the terminal and straight to the desk, took a matter of minutes.

ola12387,

I wouldn't worry about the security aspect, things are tighter than ever these days. As for your bags going missing, this does happen from time to time which isn't surprising considering the number of bags airports handle, buts its a small risk. It's happened once to me in 100's of flights. Day before check-in is ok if you live close to the airport or you are staying over-night. For most people, there's little point in making the trip becasue all passengers have to be present to check-in and you end up doing 2 trips to the airport. If you arrive at the wrong time, you can end up queing just as long the day before as you would on the day.

If it's something you feel you'll benefit from, then go for it. Like Pippy says, FCA do seem to check-in very efficiently at most airports and queues do tend to dissapear quicker than some other operators.

Ola 12387, day before check in is brilliant!
We live in Wales so nowadays it just isn't practicable to travel to Gatwick on the morning of the flight.Last four long haul holidays we have booked a parking/night before hotel package and used day b4 check in service. In total it only adds around £120 to the holiday (and part of that is parking which would prob. cost £70-80 anyway)
It's amazing how quiet Gatwick is at 6:00pm - no hassle parking the car, straight thru the terminal, no queues at the day b4 check in - get your boarding cards and just take your hand luggage to the hotel.
The following morning you can have a later start, get thru security without time issues and have a leisurely coffee before boarding, nice and relaxed.
My own view is that there is just as much chance of your luggage going missing on the morning as there is the day before!!
Try it - you'll be hooked - we will never go on long haul again without it. :D

We fly with First Choice a lot and also find their check in desks to be very fast and straight foward mind you saying that our flights are normally between 6am and 7.30 depending on where we are going and which airport we use.We have never had any problems with long que's or cases going missing either (touch wood!) I did consider the day before check in but I thought it would be a waste of money at 5 pounds each when there is five of us, I would rather have that money to buy stuff on the plane journeys, and I also would worry about our cases being stored and forgot about. If it works for you thats fine, but I dont think I would need to use it.
but thats just my personal opion, everyone's different.
As we never sleep the night before we go away, due to excitement if we use a non local airport we just drive through the night, we avoid all the busy traffic and the kids have a sleep. We dont bother staying in a hotel either, I would rather have more to spend on holiday.

We used the First Choice service at Gatwick this year and it was the best £20 we've ever spent. It saved all the queueing at 4.30am with 2 grumpy kids - we just got to the airport an hour before departure and went straight through to the departure lounge. It also meant that I could have my last smoke a lot closer to take-off time!!

Our luggage was fine (although my wife had the same concerns as you).

First Choice only offer this service at Gatwick, Manchester and Birmingham, but you can check in under-12's without them being there as long as you have their passports with you and as long as they have the same surname as you.

I'd recommend it!

Dazbo,

On our FC flight home from Spain last month we were told that FCA will cease to exist in September due to the TUI merger/takeover.

We have since booked our 2008 hol with First Choice, flying LGW to Izmir. Our fight obviously won't be a FCA one any more, but should we be worried about TUI drastically changing what we've booked? One concern is that the FCA LGW-Izmir flight is new for 2008, giving a 45 min transfer time, compared the the 2 hours+ it takes to get from Dalaman in 2007.

Thanks for any advice,

HB

We are flying from Gatwick so that is cool, I have spoken to people on another forum and they say the same as you that it is brilliant.

Also my other half, will like the fact that he won't have to go so long without having a ciggie

I will speak to him when i get home, we don't fly until 13:40 but i have checked with First Choice and they do it on all their flys from the airports you mentioned. we aren't taking any of the boys with us this year, the oldest is 20,17 year old is in his 2nd year at college so can't have the time off and the 15 year old is in his last year at school so the same for him and the 17 year ols what a shame we are having to go on our own!!

thanks everyone for your help with this matter i'll let you know what i decide.

Harry Boat,

Although the merger has been announced, I've not see any plans as to what will happen once they merge. They have similar short haul products so I wouldn't worry too much. It's the long haul product that'll be interesting because they offer slight differences, FCA getting my vote every time.

Thanks Darren

We're just a bit concerned that FCA offerred Izmir as a new destination for 2008, yet Thomsonfly don't seem to go there from LGW. We'll keep our fingers crossed!

Harryboat FCA are still going to be operating FCA flights, they have dreamliners on order for 2009.
I imagine that TUI will take over the hotel booking part but they will probably use both FCA and Thomson airlines.
Its a shame really We use FC every year and love our holidays, Thomson in my view is too expensive, they even rip you off for last minute deals, where as FC sell them for good prices.
