although soft drinks are more expensive than EFES
get the kids on the booze thats what i say.
its cheaper
i think your friend has lira and his pounds mixed up i have just returned from marmaris and the most i paid for a soft drink was 5ytl not £5 and this was for a pint of coke so its still very cheap over there
Have a great one & if you see 2 six foot tall men with a blondish woman 5 7ish it's me & the lads come & have a bevvie with us. that's if it's marmaris your going to.
em
5 tyl ===£2 what could be easyer
If you are on holiday with children the best thing to do if you are in apartment is stock up on soft drinks from super market, if the kids want a drink they can just pop up to room for one much cheaper, i know the kids will find this a pain, but you will find you get a good saving doing it htis way especially if you have a few in tow.
My mum is rubbish with the currency too, I managed to get her to remember that 10YTL = £4 so at least she had some sort of idea on price. Also one of the restaurants that we used gave out cards that had the Turkish notes printed on teh back, we got her one of these and wrote how much each note was worth approximately this helped too.
Mind You If your getting muddled with the lira as it is now you would have had no chance before it was devalued It was £1000'S to the pound and some things were over 1 million lira MIND BLOWING
just take this with you
dont pay more than 2.5 ytl for coke and 5 ytl for a beer.............maybe more in night clubs......... if they want more say NO and go to the next bar... there are about 5000 of them so you should be ok!
I was surprised when he told me because I thought thats 10 liras. He must of mixed it up, but he was out on a tourist trip and where they stopped could of been that much. You know whats it like the coach stops off the refreshments a captive audience and the prices are sky high.
Soft drinks cost 3 lira in all bars, Not £5 as suggested, Why dont people ask the price before they order, Everyone can talk, It's simple if you think it's to expensive, Move to the next bar and ask price its that simple, Dont get ripped off.
I am no great expert on Turkey. But I do know that when I went out there with my young son in October 2005 the average evening meal for both of us (including a couple of drinks) was about 20 lira. This year in July I paid between 30 and 40 lira each night.
Still cheap but not as cheap as it was on our first visit. Last time I'm sure I used to eat starters as well, never puddings, can't stand them. I didn't bother with starters this time as it was way too hot to eat much.
We stayed in marmaris this year and didnt find it much more expensive than 2 years ago,i did find tasty bites rather expensive for what we got, could have eaten in a nicer restaurant for the price we paid there. We had 1 meal in icmeler and found it a reasonable price for the 6 of us.Best to shop around
Lesley Jane, Please name the restauraunts you were in when you paid that price?
Which price are you talking about?
I went to the chef on both trips. I can't remember where else apart from the Ozzy on the first trip.
This time I went to the Wayside (the best) Titanic, love boat I can't really remember the others.
Looking around the resort at the boards outside they were all much the same.
I'm not sure why you are so intent on proving me wrong. All I have done is stated how much I paid for evening meals on my two trips to Icmeler. I have absolutely now reason to lie about this.
I think everyone knows that prices have risen considerably in Turkey within the last two years. And as you say, most of the restaurants in the main resorts do charge more or less the same prices. They would have to

i find its better to pay the higher price after all for instance one place was advertising grilled chicken, rice ,mash .veg, chips and 1 drink and free breakfast the next morning all for £3.99,we all know english sausage and bacon is hard to come by and can be expensive,i would rather pay 21lira for a steak meal and be kind to my stomache there is cheap places out there but i for 1 avoid them and eat in the places i have come to trust
Im a regular at the Wayside myself and have never paid the price you have for a meal, Yes I know they dont do set meals, The loveboat is far to busy for me to wait in as it alway's seems to be pretty well full in the evenings again I have not seen set menu's on boards That explains why you pay so much for the meals.
