Gene, we drank there most dinner times, free pool table aswell.
Cocktails are 7lira BOGOF
We always made sure we made it in time for bogof, got a bit fed up with the cocktails so started having wine bogof, once i meant to order 2 wines so that me and a friend had 2 each but asked for 4 and had 8 glasses brought to the table, looked a bit ridiculous at the time but went down very well
My mate is back from marmaris and said it was more expensive that tenerife was last year when he went. Seems like nowhere is cheap anymore. If turkey gets into the eu and use the euro it will become one of the most expensive places to go. Just looked what happened to price in greece after the euro.
I'm sure some of you can remember the good old days about 10 years ago, when a pint of efes was 40p and a bottle of vodka from shop was £2. Turkey is rapidly becoming one of the most expensive countrys for alcohol.
ive just returned from marmaris and i cant understand why people are saying turkey is expensive , i was paying 2.5 to 3 lira a large effes , between £6 and 7£ a 5 course meal, dolmus was 40 pence. you just have to look around to find prices you want. breakfast was still £1 if you looked. prices for cloths was the same as 3 years ago( 3 pairs of jeans for £20, 6 polo tshirts for £10, diesel cardigans £8). turkey for me is the same price as 3 years ago
Just prooves people dont have to pay that much for drink in Turkey, Yes I agree somepeople like an atmosphere in a Bar, But remember you will be paying far more money for that privalage, Each to ones own, Good post Redrhino12.

Hi Kim,
In Majorca this year san miguel was 1 euro a pint at quite a few places and food was cheap as well. A large gordons and tonic 4 euro's same for barcardi and coke. These are the real mccoy not the locally produced rubbish. The spirit drink prices were in the 4* hotel we stayed in and not outside in a half deserted bar. The beer 71p a pint and the spirits £2.85. How much is a real gordons and tonic and real bacardi and coke. I bet its not £2.85, I bet its the locally produced spirits for that money.
Well I for one wouldn't want to spend my holiday scouring the streets looking for cheap food or drink. Not really my idea of a holiday and I'm sure it isn't most peoples.
yes especially in majorca
How much is a imported bacardi with a bottle of coke, no squirt out of a tape. As I said in our hotel in majorca it was £2.85. The hotel was a thomson platinum hotel so not some cheap 2*.
I keep on hearing even though prices have gone up in the last fews years in turkey but its still cheaper than most other places. I don't believe turkey is cheap after seeing some of the post on here.
Nobody wants to say how much a imported spirit is with a bottle of mixer. Could it be it costs at least £5 if not more.
As for going on holiday and seeking out the cheapest places to eat and drink in - some people have to do that if they are on a very tight budget. However, just because something is cheap it doesn't mean it's good.
For most people, part of their holiday is eating nice food, but if people are happy to eat fry ups, frozen burgers, chewy kebabs.......just because it's cheap - that's up to them.
I often wonder though, what some of these people's eating habits are like at home; when people go on holiday they usually like to treat themselves and splash out a bit - and if their idea of a blowout is a greasy burger or cheap kebab goodness knows what they eat normally!

We always splash out on the evening meal,
I have fish and chips but the wife loves her scampi and chips in the basket.
Sundays we always have the Sunday lunch, its not Sunday without our Yorkshire and mash.

Oh, Gene, don't you know that sarcasm is the lowest form of wit?
Turkey is not the inexpensive place it once was. Unless you're talking kebabs and burgers - which are cheap food everywhere (except Dalaman Airport! )
I know most of the tourist restauarants do the typical Steak Diane, Pepper Steak (which is about as Turkish as a bacon sandwich ) for £6.95, or sometimes £5.95, but once you've ordered a starter, a couple of drinks, wine or beer, maybe a dessert........................it soon adds up!
I've eaten in hundreds of restaurants, in most of the major resorts, towns, cities and villages - and the only restaurants which are a bargain to eat in are the local Turkish restaurants. And you won't find those where the touristy ones are. They don't sell English breakfast either.
As it happens, I enjoy a real Turkish kebab (a good one) and would much rather eat that than their steak - which is always tough and tasteless; that's why they always put Diane or Pepper Sauce on it. I have had a few nice steaks in Turkey, but they've always been in places that cost an arm and a leg - such as the Ece Saray Marina Hotel in Fethiye.
The restaurants which cater for tourists in Turkey also lack variety and imagination. They all do the same Meze, the same Steak Diane............they're all identical. And their wine leaves a lot to be desired.

I had to get my 2yr old son an £8 spag bol/lasagne most nights cos that was all that was suitable.... compared to 'your son will eat free if you dine here' in turkey it's a lot cheaper.
We'll just agree to differ on this one! My husband loves kebabs... otiman kebabs (sp?) which are not just cheap english meals. They come on a big flamed platter. I never once paid for a starter it's always free and usually you get free fruit too for pudding but we must dine in different places.
In spain i found it very difficult to find anywhere that served anything other than burger & chips, egg & chips, pie & mash, fish & chips or a fried brekki etc... eurghhh!
We must have gone to different places in spain... i spent more in a week than i did in 2wks in turkey and i didn't buy a thing cos there was nothing to buy... whereas turkey on the otherhand... my cases will be stuffed with handbags etc heehee ouch at dalaman airport!!
love nikki xx
