So thats not a dedicated underwater housing? Must be pretty clear as the pix are great.

hi all, have not been to the coral for nearly two years, have a weeks break due end of nov, wondered whether it was worth going back, has it changed much, for better or worse?have all the old faces gone, we went 3 times in 2005 and had a great time and loads of happy memories would hate to be dissapointed, any fed back welcome
Hi summertruffle
We go out next Monday, first visit since January 2006. Friends have visited several times in the last 18 months and have booked again for November so that speaks for itself. Should we think anything major has changed I will post when we return .

Kosh42,Can you tell me where the photos 845 - 854 are taken please?.Is it far from Sharm?.Thanks Jay.
Those were taken during a breif stop on the snorkeling trip I booked with the guys on the beach at The Hilton. Its somewhere between Nuweiba and Dahab up in the mountains...
great pics Kosh
weirdly enough, it looks as if you were on the same sunbeds as we were lasy year and even possibly the same room!
wish I was back there, I miss it

back there end of feb08 with 5 friends this time - anyone else booked up again?
Hi summertruffle
got back early hours after a blissfull 2 weeks, weather was outstanding but an awful lot of hungry mozzies . If it's the staff that make it perfect for you then you shouldn't be dissappointed , most of the usual smiling faces are still there though many were just returning from, or going on, vacation.
More or less 100% occupancy, with Russell giving up his room, all sun loungers taken but I think everyone had one ( unlike the poor souls at the Sonesta ).
Personally thought the food has suffered in quality though it was obvious quantity was more important to some visitors . Chef Amr arrived back the day before we left and brought the flavour back with him !
But we will be going back inshallah.

Good news will be returning to our 2nd home on jan 10th
Bad news we should be returning on jan 17th hopefully NO 48hr strike or we will just have to stay there
Returned last week after a fantastic fortnight in the sun. We had excellent weather.
The Italian has been closed (for the Winter) and is now a Snack Bar 1100-1900 and they cook meals to order - what a great idea. We can recommend the Chicken Sherwerma.
Cocktail parties are held on Saturdays - first Saturday it was on the terrace of the Abou Lou Lou, the following week outside the Shell Disco, proper cocktails too.
All restaurants are now non-smoking, apart from the Snack Bar.
Got new bins in the room - such joy!! Also clock radios.
Food had improved in our opinion - concentrating on quality rather than quantity.

Forgot so say Zaki has left the employ of the Coral Hilton. We did not get to see him, he had already left - Very Sad. Hopefully he has gone on to bigger, better things. He will be missed, I am sure.
Non-smoking - that'll give Ev and the Dolphin a bit more choice about where to sit then...
When did you last go Bex - we had clock-radios in the summer, or have they changed again?

Some nice new video clips from the Emperor dive centre now on their website.
Do any of you make an appearance

Hadnt been since Dec 06.
Another new addition is that each parasol on the beach has a windbreak that can be moved around - excellent idea. Gave a bit more privacy too.

Bex
Windbreaks! That is a good idea, especially with certain people flying out on...
No I shouldn't
No I shouldn't
Bex,just what were you doing behind the windbreak?
They definitely are a good idea with Everest about, but of course, he will always blame it on someone else!
What a great shame for the Coral that Zaki has moved on to other things. Although we have not been to the hotel for a while, he will always be an important part of it in our memories. To my mind, he should have been promoted a long time ago, he was a real "gentleman" to every single visitor.
Alan, great link to the Emporer videos! Was that you in the 2002 version, with the beard? Amazing how computers can make you look even younger!
