1) I think it now all one complex (holiday Village) but i have read that one side is still better than the other - if so can you request where you stay
2) We are a family of 4 (2 kids aged 13 & 9) and we a t least want a separate bedroom for the adults and maybe a sofa bed in a lounge. We have been thinking of a jaquzzi suite but i have also heard about junior suite and kids den. Could someone explain what is in each one and which one would suit our needs. I did go into the local FC but they were a bit vague!!
3) I have also read that the pool slides are only open for a limited number of hours per day - is this right and how often
4) IS the soccer school and stage school any good?
5) As its all one is there now only 1 buffet restuarant ?
6) Are the themed resturants any good
1. I would say that the "palace" side is better than "tropical" side as there is more going on however the water slides are much faster on the tropical side! It depends what you want from your holiday as to which side of the HV is better for your needs. I would imagine that you can request which side you go, in the same way as requesting a pool view etc. Like anything it may be pot-luck.
2. In Family rooms and kids dens you have to walk through the bedroom area to get to the lounge/kids den area. This means that whoever sleeps in the kids den or lounge has to walk through the bedroom to get to the loo in the night. I beleive the jacuzzi/junior suites have the bedroom on one side and lounge on the other with bathroom in the middle, thus giving you more privacy.
3. Pool slides were open from 10-12noon and again from 2-4pm on both side of the complex.
4. My kids went to soccer school and stagecoach. Soccer school was more structured when we went in 2006 with 4 set skills sessions which you booked so the kids didn't repeat any of the sessions, they got the full variety. Last year it was less organised (despite us going end of July) and pot luck whether your kids got a different session to that which they'd already done. The soccer school coaches I felt were at times very dissinterested and teaching the kids seemed a chore. Stagecoach was really good. It only runs during August though. My 9yr old went and had a great time. The teachers were really enthusiatic and very skilled. They are all teachers in the UK and get "cherry picked" to go. The kids loved doing the show. I booked a couple of extra sessions for my daughter as she enjoyed it so much. They are supposed to get given some discount vouchers which you can use for Stagecoach back in the UK but the teachers had not received them when we were there. I think it was 3 vouchers each worth £50 off so worth asking about. I did try and chase this up when we got home but never got anywhere.
5. There are actually 4 buffet restaurants, on each side of the HV there is an indoor one (butlins-style VERY noisy nightmare - only did that once!!) and an outdoor one. We ate in the outdoor one every night. The indoor one opens slightly earlier and has a kids buffet with usual kids fayre (nuggets etc). The outdoor one opened at 7 and was much nicer in my opinion. There was no kids themed food except chips so it depends on what you're after. Our kids will eat most things as long as they can identify what it is (!!) and managed just fine as there was always chicken, fish and pasta etc. Spray well with mozzie spray if eating outdoors though.
6. We tried the indian and italian restaurants and they were ok. It was nice to be waited on for a change but it wasn't anything to write home about.
Hope that helps!!
