Thanks to both of you for your information
When we went last year to Florida they were still doing their 3 Class System (Business, Premium and Economy) - on the way over we got a personal entertainment tv thing with some different films pre-loaded on it and episodes of the simpsons etc. Only Business Class got this, Premium and Economy had to make do with the film/tv shows shown on the tvs on the roof.
tvs on the roof.
bet it's cold and windy watching re-runs of "Only Fools and Horses" up there!
I think i asked for that, didnt i?
just read that Globespan using there own 767's this year for Glasgow-Orlando and to Vancouver, the NEOS are not being contracted this year.
Yippee - does that mean it'll be a nicer aircraft? Newer?
I'm araid not!! GSM's 763's are not the newest but have a nice enough interior. They don't have PVT installed.
Darren
Hi Darren,
GlitterGirl,
Ah thats fine - was only expecting them as the Neos aircraft we had last year didnt have PVT's either as long as there is something
On the bright side the NEOS planes first flew in 1995 and the Globespan ones did not fly untill 2000 so they are five years newer :cheers.
Are flyglobespan still ABTA members?they aren't coming up on the ABTA website
There was a rumour going around my work today that Flyglobespan are going bust/bankrupt etc etc - please tell me its just a silly rumour?!
Hi GlitterGirl ... there are always rumours of one form or another circulating about Flyglobespan. Last month the rumour was that they had been taken over by BMI, I think the bankruptcy rumour did the rounds a couple of times last year. Someone will probably pick up the rumour that you have just mentioned and post it elsewhere on the web, and so it goes on until folk start circulating it as if fact.
Article about Globespan in financial pages of Scotsman today
Cool, thanks for reassuring me - i did kinda think it was just another silly rumour! Fingers crossed!
Globespan 'looking for a partnership'
FLYGLOBESPAN, Scotland's largest airline, is seeking a merger or acquisition to fuel further growth, its new chief executive has revealed.
Rick Green, head of parent company Globespan, has disclosed that the firm remains firmly focused on expansion despite its impending first full-year loss, caused partly by major problems with hired-in aircraft used last year.
In his first interview since joining the Edinburgh-based company in December, Green said he was taking over operational command from chairman and former managing director Tom Dalrymple, who has run the business for 34 years ..... click here for full story.

Probably a daft question here...but IF flyglobespan went bust what would happen to people who have booked flight only....are they covered under atol at all? would they be left stranded in their holiday destination?
ATOL bonding covers package holidays and charter flights, but not scheduled or no frills flights booked direct with an airline. Unless you have credit card protection for transactions in excess of £100, you should arrange a travel insurance policy which includes cover for scheduled/no frills airline failure.
