I was going to cancel my holiday this august due to circumstances but didn't have to in the end.. My balance is due on 20th may and only paid a deposit last august of £150 in total.. They never wanted another deposit, just the final payment and i was told i had until the day before to cancel and all i'd be charged was the original deposit of £150....
You shouldn't incure charges but i booked with Thomas Cook so not sure..
Sarah
thanks for that sarah I was hoping someone might say that .
Your welcome....
Can someone fill me in with what kids facilities there are at this hotel - clubs, activities, water slides, etc. Mine are 11, 8,6,6 and am looking for somewhere for next year. Went to Lykia last year which was fabulous and are trying the Aqua Fantasy this so looking for next. Would have liked to return to Lykia but the prices are really high and noticed the Hemera was coming in quite reasonable.
Thnaks for any replies.
Just checked my invoice and said jusy the balance by next june. When clicked to book it come up balance of deposit due within 8 weeks. it must of been a mistake on website. Also their was nowhere to ask for in-flightmeals but on the invoice, but on the web screen on cost break down no inflight meals. Well it helps me I don't have to find the deposit by next month because I have just bought a new pc after my last one caught fire.
Lyn 3 adults @£922=£2766
3 sharing a room -£181
Discount £300
3X flight supplment @£10=£30
Atol £3
Total £2318 devide by 3 = £772 per person, I think your adult price is £857. I got a lower flight supplement and a higher discount per-person. The price has gone up today and I think they raise the price at weekends because weekends is the time most people book their holiday
And very nice day flights from gatwick take off 14.30 landing back gatwick 23.59
I hate the early morning flights say 7am and you have to be up 2am to 3am and when you arrive at the hotel you are dog gone tired.
Lyn where are you flying from. My £722 is good and if my daughter was in the child price it would of been £1948. Just shows the difference paying a higher flight supplement and getting a higher discount makes
It has made it much less likely that I will book this for summer 2009 now as the price for us is now similar to hundreds of other holidays, rather than being the 'good deal' it was. Shame really as it does sound nice.
Lyn, I am sure you and I had that low deposit conversation about Portland one year. We paid a low deposit and expected to pay the balance of the deposit after a set time, but never had to. It was only if you cancelled. It's a bit of a bonus when it's a genuine low deposit.
I wonder if they wil bring anymore deals on with kids prices, or if its an error. It would be good to see a brochure to see what child age they give for the Hemera. It could just be a systems upload error (she says hopefully ) as most hotel kids places are limited to age 12.
Doe
Hi.. I have a brochure and have had a look for you.. The child ages are 16 in the apartments and 14 in the hotel.. We got 2 free child places in my family for a 12 and 13 year old. In the brochure it also states that free child places are only in the hotel!!! We booked last august with Thomas cook. Hope this helps
Thanks for posting. Is that for 2008 holidays only i'm trying to price 2009 and was wondering what child age the direct holidays brochure is showing for the hotel for 2009 ?
Doe
Oh i am sorry yes it is for 2008.... can you just ring them direct and see.. I know its a pain but it does make a difference having a free place.. Let me know and hope you find out x
Hi Cant . Yes we are flying from gatwick too ,sunday 19th July , I didnt go with the first flight that came up , clicked on alternative flights and chose the 7.55 am one returning home at 6.30pm. I chose this one so that hopefully it will be a straight 2 weeks holiday (hubby self employed)and back to work on monday for hubby and eldest son. It is a monarch flight , . It was only £60 more (total ) than the crappy night one that came up first and Inflight meals INCLUDED . It was still showing that amount the last time I looked but i think it could be an error because 60pp would make more sense for a day flight and it was the same £60 if i booked for 5 people or 6. So I think i got a bargain because I now have a day flight and meals for 6 for £60 . whether it stays like that is another matter. Is yours the Tuesday flight . For us that flight only worked out £100 cheaper overall and hubby and son would of needed an extra 2 days off work plus we would of had to pay meals on top .for some reason it would only give me a max of £400 discount whatever day we chose
Hes 13 at present so would be 14 at time of travel, so I was booking as 3 adults 1 child. I was getting a bargain price of 2800 for us in a 'family room' in the hotel going the last two weeks in July. Everything else was about 3500 as you can imagine.
This was all down to the fact that Hemera had a child price of up to 14 plus we could all get in one room. I looked the other day and saw the age had dropped to 12 on the Direct web-site. Dont know if the age 14 was just some kind of promotional offer though as I thought the Hemera had always had a child age of 14. Very Strange.
Serves me right really, I should have booked when to going was good, but didn't really want to commit that early.
Odd really though as it never crossed my mind that they would alter the kids price. I thought it would be far more likely that they would have run out of the four bedded rooms.
Edited for rubbish spelling.
I told them a fib myself and it worked . when I originally booked there was no 3rd adult in a room discount showing but it was still a good price and I booked . printed out my confirmation . Happy. Then a week later low and behold the on screen price showed the 3rd adult reduction of £181, so I copied down the breakdown making sure everything else was still exactly the same and rang them up and said "whats happened the on screen price showed me X and now my confirmation isnt showing the adult price reduction. They agreed and sent me a new confirmation for £181 Less. I honestly didnt think it would work.
I can't beleive you did that. I think if I was 100% it was what I wanted I might query it, just incase they have reloaded their system and the age 12 is an error. I think I will order a 2009 brochure from the web-site and see if it still says age 14. Then I will have more ammo. I'm going to price ADR as well but wait to see if you like it this year and how it compares to the Bel Beach. (ive got such a cheek )
Chris
I dont think it would of worked chris if the other figures hadnt still been the same . I was well pleased . But I should of got it anyway
Keep thinking we are going to the Hemera this year . Completely forgotten about the ADR now
Feel like I have got a bit of a cheek, it's like asking you to 'test drive' my holidays.
Why were you rechecking the price only a week after booking ? You will drive yourself potty. You have another 15 months to go in which to keep checking if it's gone up or down.
Hi Sorry to interrupt but can anyone please answer my previous post with regard to kids facilities/activities please?
I know davidstoncold went there last year, it might be worth dropping him a pm just incase he isn't looking in so much at the moment. I'm going to Lykia this year and my inital thoughts are that the Hemera wont be as good for children as Lykia, I guess I am basing that on the fact that most who go are German and Russian and my kids have trouble communicating with them so its harder to join in.
In case you havnt seen it this is the hotel website . http://www.baruthotels.com.tr/eng/hemera/aktiviteler.html
I doubt the childrens facilities will match those on offer at lykia in terms of waterslides etc but looks like they is plenty going on there . I dont know the age of your children but also found a great video on youtube of a beach party that looks like children/teenagers of all ages would enjoy .Really got me in the holiday mood .
Why were you rechecking the price only a week after booking ? You will drive yourself potty
you know me chris . Have to convince myself I got a bargain . did you think I wouldnt
Im only going on instinct chris but purely basing that on all three of our main T/Os selling it thomas cook/cosmos/thomson I have a feeling there should be a fair few english there during the school holiday period . Maybe not so many out of season but I have hope come to think of it Have you tried pricing with cosmos ??
I do think of all the hotels in Side the Hemera is probably the best for British families in the summer hols as it has been in Portland/TUI brochure for years & there seems to be a lot more Brit questions on the net about it.
We are on the tuesday because it doesn't matter what day we go. You could book a late check out room for this year but next year you can't. Thats the advantage with your flight times, you leave the hotel early. I might give DD a ring next week because I want to make some requests and see if there are any late check out rooms.
Chris give DD a ring and see if the child age is 14.
I don't like the 0871 10p a minute number. Ofcom must have brains a size of a flea, didn't they realise when they stopped revenue sharing on 0845 and 0870 numbers companies whould switch to 0871 numbers. Is there a alternative number on no to 0807 numbers.
I saw the tonight programme holidays uncovered and it was about insurance. Did you most insurance companies won't pay out if you fall and injure yourself if have been drinking say 4 pints of beer or a few shorts . I am going to hunt down a insurer who does give cover if you have been drinking. Hiring mopeds check what the small the print says, a young bloke in thialand hired a 125cc bike got his legs crushed in a accident but the insurance wouldn't pay out because in the small print it said upto 50cc bike. His family clubbed together to pay the £30,000 bill. A woman had half a bottle of wine and vodka and tonic with her dinner went back to the hotel and trip on the carpet. She banged her and ended up with brain injuries in US, she died and here husband has been left with a bill for £125,000. Going to spain or europe take your european health card with you and carry it with you at all times you will get emergency treatment free. When we were last in majorca scuba diving lessons were on a certain day in the hotel and we tried the lessons in the pool. When I checked my insurance we weren't covered to go on a dive.
