Just about to take my 7th trip out to the Dominican Republic in June and I nearly always fly with Thomsons over there. They give you a blue form to fill in on the plane going and at the airport you pay $10 for arrival tax. On the way home you fill another blue form in at the airport in the DR and pay the $20 departure tax.

Hi all,
We paid our holiday balance on 17/5/08 and have not recieved our nectar points yet :que
When we paid our deposit we got them within 28 days as we were told we would but when i just phoned Thomson to see where they are they weren't very helpful.
Can anyone shed any light on this as we have spend £11000 on this holiday so would get quite alot in points.

Hi there!

Unfortunately thomsons have pulled out of the nectar points scheme, from end of Jan (08) - or it could have been feb (08), i'm not quite sure, but I think the girl said end of Jan. I know this because when I booked my holiday last July, I went into pay the remainding balance, just after xmas, and I was lucky enough to receive my points, but if I had paid when the holiday balance was due (around May), I wouldnt have got them.

Thanks i thought as much but when i said this to the girl on the phone she said that as i had booked last year i would still get the points. I can't see why they can't just be straight with you and tell the truth. :(

Can anyone help with this I booked a holiday to Mexico online and was told i have got an eticket and no paper tickets will be sent but underneath there was this message

Ticketing InformationIt is important that you keep a record of your reference until you receive your paper tickets from us by post. Tickets will be with you approximately 2-3 weeks before you are due to fly.

This is your ATOL confirmation invoice. This is a very important document as it is your proof of your contract with TUI UK Limited, TUI Travel House, Crawley Business Quarter, Fleming Way Crawley, West Sussex, RH10 9QL, ATOL No. 2524. You are advised to print the confirmation invoice and keep it in a safe place or retain an electronic copy until you have completed your holiday

Has anyone who has been on a Thomson holiday this summer had a discount voucher,we got one last year I think it was 50quid per person.

We went to a welcome meeting this June 08 in the resort of Sharm in Egypt.

After the spiel of prices and trips etc, the rep told us that in airports now especially sharm el sheikh, you have to pay £6 to seat together, and that it isnt thomson, it is the airports ruling now.

I was lucky having booked and paid for exit seats, but the rest of my party of 3 never paid £18 to seat together on principle. My party got to seat together no problems.

At the airport we asked the attendant on check in about this extra money to sit together, he laughed and said, well they are on to a winner with that one, but the airports cannot impose that on people, it is the reps in resort and the tour operators.

First choice and Thomson are together and yet when i asked a lady if she had the option to seat together, she had no idea what i was talking about.

Please be warned of this scam.

I have booked a Thomson holiday via the internet and final payment is due on 6th September. I have booked holidays with Portland, Direct and Eclipse in previous years and have always received a paper confirmation, then a final invoice. I have nothing from Thomson, apart from the email confirmation. My query is, has anyone booked directly with Thomson, and how the heck do I pay the balance!!

Bearing in mind that Thomson and FC have merged, I had a right todo with FC on my last holiday with them. I booked in November/December for a June Holiday. I did the deposit on line at the time of booking. Now according to me that was it until I had to settle up, but according to them, some non existent messages had been acknowledged that stated that I knew it was a low deposit and I had to pay the full deposit by a certain time. Working in IT, I think I might have spotted one or two of these, but they were only accessable after going through the entire booking process and as I didn't want 2 holidays, I could never prove the web site was at fault, however it was rapidly corrected!

Meanwhile my worrier daughter was reading up on our holiday and found a bit on the website that said if one didn't pay the full deposit before a certain date you automatically forfeit the holiday and could be liable for more charges.

To quieten her fears I gave in and phoned up to confirm the facts, whereby I was told "I had clicked through" these non existent messages and I had to pay the full deposit by the agreed date.
Eventually they relented and let me know what the agreed date was - beginning of January. I stated that I had always had letters to let me know if there was something to pay and was told they didn't do them anymore and I had to remember the dates!

I did receive something that said I paid but I do not remember receiving anything that said I had more to pay by a certain date, but my daughter kept reminding me so it wasn't a problem.

Haven't used FC since.
The merger seems to have taken the worst from both companies and brought it to the fore.

In case anyone may be interested. Booked for next year on the website for 9 days and this worked out cheaper than a 7 day holiday (and it was a considerable amount).
Just goes to show its best to try all options.

Thomsons dont send paperwork through the post now, so you just phone them with your final payment by the due date.

Thanks for your reply. I searched long and hard through the Thomson website and eventually found the payments page. Looking forward to spending hours on the phone trying to pay!!! - much prefer the Direct website where you can pay online.

just heard when i booked my hols with thompson yestarday, when them and first choice airways actually merge in may next year even the infants are getting there own 10 kilo baggage allowence aswell, think that will be good for the younger familys as im sick to death of seaperting nappies between our own suitcases

Booked our hol for next year online late last night. Just a bit concerned as usually when I phone and book they ask things like how many window seats and if we have any requests (not that requests are guaranteed but something you like to ask). But online neither of these were asked :que

Did mail them but have heard nothing back yet.

Should I give them a ring or wait a day or two for a reply?

Just checked my bank balance, and yesterday when I was booking my hol I'd put all my bank details in and the site said error so I re entered all the details, only it looks like both transactions have gone through and i've lost £300 in the system somewhere!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Phoned Thomson, they said on their system the first payment is down as cancelled so the money will be back in my bank in about 3 working days. Phoned the bank though just to check, they said no it hasn't been cancelled so I rang Thomson back who confirmed on their system it has been cancelled so when the payment gets sent to them from the bank it will just bounce back to our account. Hope its gone back in before the mortgage has to be paid! :(

Also while I was on the phone to Thomson I got them to add my request for the rooms to be together if possible, but they couldn't do my request for window seats???

We have paid for seating together and usually get to book two window seats but they say now that I can't book these yet???

Any ideas??? :que

How Many suitcases are you allowed for 2 people, is 3 okay as one is only tiny as long as they do not exceed the weight?
