stayed here last year in august and yes the rooms are basic but who cares you only sleep in them, as for the food their was loads of variety and of good quality my husband enjoyed it and theirs no one fussier than him.

review added as per your request boss.

I agree, everyone has different tastes etc and thats a good thing.

I have taken photo's and issued them to Thomson along with a complaint, maybe i was unlucky that the room we were allocated had mould on the walls, a condemed air conditioning system, broken cot, no seaview when paid for, non working lifts & blocked hallways (both health and safety issues), smell of damp, filthy bathroom, balcony that made an amenity tip look habitable.

Then being moved to a room (improved) that had all the above but included a larger patch of mould on the wall.

As i have previously stated, i am very pleased for those people who return and have a great time and are happy with the accommodation that is provided, I am genuinely glad that your experiences are positive, however if these people went some where for their first holiday with their young family and were dissappointed with the above items, i am sure they would feel the same.

It may be that i am used to clean hotels, with good choice of food and where you get what you expect for your money, I was lucky that The Cala Nova was all this.

I think it also helps when you go back to a place where you know people as your also excited about seeing them etc, its good that its like this for most of you. Hope you enjoy yours holidays there once more :)
I am just documenting my experience and sharing with others as per the premise of the site.

Peace out peeps

What do you regulars do for cash whilst staying at San Miguel? (hoping we won't need much). Where's the nearest cash point and do the hotel cash travellers cheques?
Reply
Nearest cashpoint is in San Miguel village - about 12 euros return in a cab.
The hotel will change cheques and sterling, but the excursion shop over the road will give you a better rate.
Getting fags and baccy in the resort was not easy last year.
The only place that had them was the spar shop, and quite often they didn't have them.

Hi all - here again!

We are starting to settle in here now and can honestly say we are having a good time. The entertainment is very good and lots to do and location beautiful:

Yes, food not so good - whoever said there is kiddies food in the hotel in the evening is incorrect - there is none - the first night there was pizza but not since. Last nights kids buffet was the same as the adult selection.

Still, its not spoiling the holiday - the children eat from the western saloon in the day and chips or pasta in the evening. The veg is too hard to eat!

Everyone i speak to is complaining about the food but most people seem happy with the hotel in general.

Very, very clean hotel despite the overall air of shabbiness.

I think this place is great for family groups who mainly like to drink although there has only beem one occasion where i saw drunken behaviour and the police were called.

Its hot, lots to do, great kids clubs, nice pools, clean & staff friendly. Dont worry, keep an open mind, smile and enjoy yourselves. Its hard not too!

hi all, wots going on, this will be our 6th year at the beach clubs and we love it,yes we have been to brand new 4* hotels that have been good but one thing that you can`t beat this resort for is the entertainment for kids and adults.the food is good in the beach club always stuff for the kids to eat,the rooms are not the best but hay it`s a room to sleep and wash in.the lifts are a no no as thay never work, all i can say is if you want a holiday that will make you laugh :rofl this is the one but if you like your comforts then no see you all on the 3rd august

Hi Ibiza sun.
The thing with the lifts is that they have only got a small electronic memory (was talking to a electronics engineer last year there). So the more people using them at the same time the worse it gets, as they 'forget' where they are meant to be stopping, but they do get there eventually.
All being well, I see you on the 8th August.

hi micknmill
it`s just a lot of steps upto the tapas bar :tongue could u tell me how to get to the fish bar on the beach all the years we have been going and never been.
Reply
Do you mean the fish restaurant?
Reply
yes mate, the fish restaurant on the beach :que

The fish restaurant is next to the supermarket that is next to the beach.
Basically if you walk along the 'promenade' at the top of the beach it is on the right hand side of the supermarket. It's called the Balanzaat restaurant and the grub is fantastic.
We went on a Sunady night last year - chucked the kids in the kids club for the 'chocolate party' for 2 hours and it worked out exactly right.
3 Course meal with two bottles of wine and a pint came to about 80 euros.

Now that piece of information will cost you a meal over there for me and the old woman!!!!!!!!!

See you there,

Mick.

I'm sold again. No more negative thoughts only positive from now on. Sounds like a really fun place and if the food's not that good hopefully I won't put on too many pounds (unless I make up for it with alcohol!)
Roll on August 4th.

With the amount of us all going the same time we should win the water polo in the afternoons.
Alcohol permitting.

You're all heart.

Has anyone used the excursion shop over the road. Wouldn't mind doing a couple of trips this year but won't pay Thomsons inflated prices.
