Hi, We are setting off for 2 weeks on the 9th July (about 30 of us) and when we booked, my wife and I booked a room upgrade with Thomson. However we have forgotten what the upgrade entails. We have tried to call them but after about 15 minutes we get bored waiting and hang up. We are staying in the beach club. Does anyone have any idea what the room upgrades entail?
HI the nearest Tabac shop is in San Miguel village, near the church...I took a taxi there in May and the driver waited for me and it cost me 13 euros there and back...The prices seem to be the same as last year, I only Brought Golden virginia and that was 45 euro???.. If anyone is interested i have put a video of my grandson doing the dance to "court of king caractacus" on that well known website :tup. I dont think im allowed to say what the website is...Happy holidays to you all
hi pooh e 2 are the prices in the tabac shop cheaper than ibiza airport? do you know and can you use visa if buying lots? thanks
Golden Virginia is slightly cheaper in the Airport than the 'High St'.
Arrived monday afternoon - weather fine but very windy at times
Yes, entertainment outside - its our first time here - staying in the hotel. Have to say very disappointed with the tiny room and little wardrobe space. Room is a bit scruffy and everywhere smells a bit damp (on floor
Hotel very dated in places but hey your not in room much??!!
Facilities seem good but food poor choice - not much for kids to eat except chips! Very litle selection to choose from but what we have eaten has been ok.
Silly internet station so cant type! will try again and update you soon
Fitzmum xx
As you say you don't spend much time in your room while on holiday.
Let us know what you think of the entertainment.
Hope you have a fab time x
Are you in the hotel or the beach club?
I hope the poor room doesn't ruin your holiday. Will reception not change you?
Better keyboard so can type faster.
Right. Don´t come looking for luxury. We are in the hotel on floor 8 which is the reception level. Rooms are small, very basic and a little old looking. You are better placed in the beach club as you dont have to negotiaite the lifts. Food selection is poor and absolutely nothing decent for the kids to eat in the hotel restaurant. Typiccal menu last night was chicken wings in curry sauce, fried eggs, meatballs in gravy, boiled potatoes, chips & sprouts. That was it. Plus the salads. One tyoe of jelly & blancmange and pretend gateux.
So.....food is poor really. But....staff are great and happy, entertainmant very good and the Thomson clubs are excellent for the kids so apart from the food & basic, small room we are having a good time. The sun is shining, theres stuff in the Western Saloon that the kids will eat and so we are not starving!
The pools are nice , hotel not too busy so you can get sunbeds.
I think we have been a bit spoiled in our previous hols in the Flamingo Oasis in Benidorm & Esperides in RHodes - its not that standard but we are on holiday & are making the most of the sunshine, swimming & great entertainment
The location is stunning - i´m sure you´ll ahve a good holiday!
Bye for now
My hubby and I are not particularly fussy eaters but unfortunately our kids are!
For the kids in the restaurant, there was always fish fingers, chicken nuggets, spaghetti, pizza etc. Then of course there is the salad bar with ham, cheese, salami etc and of course the customary chips.
My kids are reasonably fussy eaters and this will be our 5th year there and they haven't starved yet.
The Western Saloon stops serving food about 6 - 6.30 in the evening.
Mick.
Sadly i canot share your enthusiasm for the Club San Miguel resort.
Return from a PLANNED week in the hotel on 11h June, My partner, 2 year old daughter and I spent 1 night there and demanded a transfer to another resort, I know you dont spend much time in the room but when you pay extra for a 'mothercare' cot and nothing is there and when a cot does turn up it has loose rusty screws and stains/dirt all over it, thats not good enough. We had damp all down the wall, balcony was filthy and the bathroom unhygienic. Also there were chairs in the hallways and obstructions when you enter the room. The furniture is very dated and looks like it came from a YMCA shop in 1976 (i wasnt born then).
When complaint, the rep wasnt suprised and even stated 'say no more and im not suprised'!!!! So we moved, complaint has been sent, I suppose if your a regular there you know what to expect but i spent £1200 on this holiday and for a 3 star hotel it was shockingly disgusting. Like previous reviews lifts are awful and food poor.
The hotel we moved to was the same ***rating and was a different class. I really think that the hotel needs full refurbishment and updating if it can continue to be offered as a family holiday, there is no way i would subject my child to those conditions if i had been aware. Unfortunately i was naive i think as it was our first family holiday and was expecting too much, or was i? Spending £1200 for a good family holiday in a 3*** hotel. Actually, i think im right.
I am very pleased for those who enjoy it there and long may you continue doing so, i am not being personal about any staff there or the reps who were excellent. It was not what i was expecting.
Hope all going there in the future enjoy your stay.
Best regards to you all
Ben
im wondering if the food in the galeon is any better. mo
hi fitzmum
when you get totally bored of the food try the restaurant on opposite side of beach think its the last one before the sea very long looking from outside, steaks are to die for and the fish is excellent we tried it for the first time last year and will be definately doing it again next week when we come out we had it recommended to us last year by other residents We also ate in the beach club restaurant which was quite a lot better than the hotel restaurant but you have to go to reception to get vouchers to use it if you are staying in the hotel. how long are you there for?

Hope you enjoyed the rest of your stay in a different resort. (Where did they move you to?)
Mick.
My daughter is disabled and has many medical conditions. If rooms are damp/in poor condition etc.. this is NOT good!!!!
bennibenj-did they move you resort no problems? Where did they move you to? We've paid £2500 for this holiday and I just hope it's not a complete waste of money!
We're there from 27th June-11th July. Tried e-mailing hotel to try and upgrade room but we were told that we would have to wait until we arrived to see if any better rooms are available. Why can't they do it now when we are willing to pay? We're going with 3 kids and all 5 of us are going to be in same room-just feels like it's going to be the holiday from hell.
Really, really hope that I'm wrong.
We are going with friends and we are meeting other people that have been going for nine years in a row and they are a family of five.I'm sure you and your kids will have a great time.
I'll be there on friday.
Get your slippery nipples out Jose.
We moved to Cala Nova hotel in Es Cana, both the hotel and resort was in a different league to the san miguel, but as divley says, they have repeated guests going year after year so a number of people enjoy the resort. I wanted to post MY holiday truth and if it helps 1 person thats good, just like the positive reviews also help people.
Respect to you both
Ben
sorry to hear about your experience benny..but as micknmill started the are more returning guests than ever..were doing our 5th year running..i know the food aint brill but its edible and there is always somthing to eat the breakfast is always good.if you were self catering there nothing to say that the meal you order and have to pay for will be the standard you expect.did you try the chinese or the beach club restuarant????san miguel is more about the entertainment, the pool, the resort, the staff (who are always helpful) and do clean the rooms daily, but if we were all the same we would all be in the same place it each to our own taste, but there one thing im sure about i dont thing the san miguel resort will ever end up on holidays from hell like one i did stay in
