You can drop off but not pick up, but nobody tells you this, so you have to drive round again(takes 5 minutes as its more of a tour of the Vale than anything). THEN you gave to go into another pick up carpark and pay £1.00 for the privegedge - Rip off!
In bristol there is at least 3 small independent parking firms, who offer drop off and pick up, so your on the road quickly, and for just £25 a week
I reckon I wasted almost 40 mins in Cardiff, so Bristol would have been better.
Pob hwyl,
Llanelli for the cup!!
Cardiff is the same as any other UK airport.
The restrictions are on Liquids over 100ml. This including drinks, cosmetics, gels, pastes or any similar substance.
which is the best long stay car park to park in on site, the old one, number one or new one, number two went to the old one last year and was in the overflow quite a walk as bus never came .
Sorry for any confusion arising from my previous post. Seems my info wasn't corect. That'll teach me to check the facts instead of relying on memory. I knew you couldn't take liquids and certain foods but didn't realise that there are various types of food you can take through security. My apologies.
Any advice will be fab. We are flying from cardiff mid may. What is there at the airport? Is food and drinks expensive? Duty free? And how much is parking for a week roughly? And of course any other info would be wicked.
There Is Lots Of Information On Cardiff Airports Website About The Facilities In The Airport
Parking Seems To Be Roughly £40-45 For A Week, You Can Book Through NCP (For Cardiff Airport)
Gower
there are a few decent shops in the airport and a nice bar area before and after security. Food and drink is comparable to most airports, a bit pricey but not too bad. There is also a decent sized Duty Free shop.
As for the parking the going rate seems to be around £45 a week but you might be lucky if you book pretty soon. We booked our car parking for April about a month ago and were offered 2 price bands with NCP. I booked via the cwlfly site, which gave me a link. The first price was £46 - Long stay Cardiff Int, then a second option 'Value Parking' - £31.75. When I clicked on Value Parking to see what it was all about, it was exactly the same as the higher priced one - parking on the site of the airport in exactly the same car park. Needless to say I booked the Value option. HOwever, I've just tried going through the same procedure now and there is no longer that option for our dates. Maybe we're too close to travelling time. It would be worth yhou putting your dates in to see what it comes up with. Good Luck!
Thanks for that, had a look last night and have saved as favorite. Carparking came out at £40.00 for the week so same as all places.
Bouncyblonde - it's a compact airport. It doesn't look very big, but you can get most things there. Flight timings can play a part as unlike larger airports like Gatwick, all facilities aren't open 24 hrs.
ok thanks, we have an early morning flight, (8.00am) i think so hopefully most things will be open. Thanks again.
If I remember correctly most things were open by 6am. There is a pub in departures which does a nice brekkie - or at least it did last year.
Cardiff International Airport Is Now Officially
We are flying KLM from Cardiff Airport and have been issued with E-tickets. Can anyone who has used the facility at Cardiff please tell me what I do with my luggage once I have checked in via the internet? Is there a luggage drop off and where is it?
I'm an old fashioned gal and would much rather have proper tickets in my hand, even if it means having to queue.
Thanks
Even though you have an e-ticket, you can still check-in in the normal fashion if you wish. Just print out your confirmation email and go to the check-in desk. If you want to check-in online, just head for the bag drop off desck at the airport, it'll be clearly signposted. I can't tell you where it is in Cardiff as I don't use the airport.

Cardiff is only a little airport, so I just wondered if they would actually have a baggage drop off facility. I would ring them but I would probably spend ages on the phone while they find the right person to answer my query.
The advantage of checking in online is that we don't have to queue at check in and I get to pick our seats in advance. Sorry to be a bit thick, but after we drop the bags off I assume that we just go straight to the departure lounge then???
Also, what's different about the boarding cards you get in the airport at check in to those you would have to print out if you checked in online?
It used to be called 'fast bag drop-off' but as online check-in has become more popular, you can end up queing just as long to drop your bags off and get the tags so it doesn't always save time. I check-in online all the time when it's available, especially when only travelling with hand luggage as you don't have to be at the airport until later and you can proceed straight through to the departure lounge. I didn't get to the airport until 25 minute before my flight from Blackpool the other week and pretty much walked through security then on to the awaiting aircraft! When you check-in online, you print your own boarding card out. It's normally A4 with the top 2/3 of the page being your flight information and the lower 1/3 being the boarding card with a bar code. When you go through security / at the boarding gate, they scan the barcode and tear off the bottom 1/3. It's no different than a normal boarding card really.

Tabitha - we fly from Cardiff quite often, and I can't say I've seen a bag drop of facility - that might be just because I haven't been looking for it though. As you say its a very small airport, so if there's one there it should be easy to locate.
Never noticed a bag drop at Cardiff and like Helen use it when ever we can,its a great airport
just wish there were more flights and save the trek to Heathrow or worst still Gatwick :
I agree & the flights from Cardiff can be so much more expensive. I do love flying from there though.
