It seems the folk who were ill were using the water coolers and swimming in the pools.
No proof of this will be available unless they take water samples and do tests.
Just to be on the safe side dont use the water coolers but get plenty of bottles of water from the fridge at breakfast time.
As it will be scorching the pools are very tempting but I would swim in the sea to cool off until this bug is sorted!
I read in yesterdays newspaper that Spain,Greece,Turkey and Egypt are the worst place for food poisoning,in that order!
I wont be going anywhere near the water coolers, and I dont usually go in the pools much anyway, but my girls like to cool down in the pool. We usually spend the majority of our time at the beach, so hopefully this will help.
Does anyone know if its easy enough to get a sun bed on the beach? And a parasol? We always retreat under the parasaol at the hottest time of the day.
Thanks
Jo
We spent most of our time on the beach just behind the galleon. There are plenty of pictures on here and Trip advisor of the beach.
my sister(hill70) and i have just been to speak to the manager of our local fc shop. she says that the tummy problems is due to the heat (heatstroke) and people drinking alcohol and not staying out of the midday sun. she also said that independant tests of the pool and food areas have come back all ok
she has friends going out there for their hols next week and if she thought there was anything wrong she would not let them go.
so we are now looking forward to our hols on 21st aug
we have all just got to respect the strength of the sun and cover up and be sensible.
happy hols!

We have booked a swim up room but still unsure what to do. I appreciate what your saying Jaytrip but what if 's all the time when youre away would most defo but a strain on the holiday. Holiday is for chilling not watching your every move and watching people come down with sickness around you. We want to be doing this
I`m absolutely sick of FC they seem to be dismissing everything, so much for my leter to them I wasted my time and effort!!
Anyone heard from the Hol Village manager lately?
I think to much focus has been put on the 'bad reviews' and not enough on the 'good' ones and the good ones by far out number the bad ones!!!
I'm looking forward to going next Monday and we're certainly prepared as best we can be and have taken note of all the tips!
So those who still have their holiday to look forward to, take something positive out of the fact that you have also been on the forums and picked up on the tips, because there's many who haven't and won't and they're probably the ones who will suffer the most!
Stay positive and enjoy your holiday.
we went to Hurghada last year, there were four of us in our party, two got the stomach bug in the second week, the other two were fine, i was one of them that got the bug, just went to see the doctor and he gave me an injection to cure the cramps, and some tablets and i was fine, so i think it is an egyptian thing, a bit of too much sun and not enough fluids etc
but it's not going to stop us going to the holiday village in september
have a good holiday martyn and let us know, how you got on

I have just booked for the HV in Feb 09 and was wondering if anyone knew the postal address or what the hotel was called previously as I was trying to find it on google earth. Thanks
Local FC shop girl we spoke to (Manager) was very reassuring .. she has confirmed that all the tests came back clear. The water coolers are all fresh filtered water and they now actually come around during the day with fresh water bottles (she mentioned evian)..she mentioned that she has on previous holidays checked that the salads are rinsed in filtered water and not their own.
I do think that they are having extremely hot weather (and us Brits are having a fairly cold one if you think of it!) so it must be a bit of a shock to our system.. as we are 'all inclusive' are us Brits making the most of the booze 'because we have paid for it already'!!??!!
she also said that if no one is on the sunbeds within about half and hour of towels going down then the towel 'boys' are removing them.
she stressed that we must cover up and try and stay out of the midday sun (which we had decided anyway).
The kids clubs are a must because there is an indoor swimming pool they use (so they get out of the heat) and for the teenagers there is a zip wire and loads to do (glad she said this because I went into the shop with my 14 year old daughter!)
she confirmed that its only British at the HV...so how come people have been moaning about the Russians and Germans?!
We (my family and sisters family) have decided we are to go and make the best of this holiday...first signs of any dodgy tummy we will visit the chemist).
We now need more people who are returning from their hols to give us honest feedbacks..we are all prepared for the normal tummy upsets (I always spend a fortune at the chemists before we go away..and thats just going to Spain!)
To all that are about to go away...good luck and have a fab journey and an even fabber holiday!!
Bernie, to find the HV on Google earth go to the airport and go in a North easterly direction along the runway until you come to the sea.Look for a very very long jetty. This is the LTI grand Azure next door to the HV.The HV is north of the LTI and you can recognise it if you zoom in by the galleon and the small lagoon on the beach.
HILL70: Not to put a dampner on it but the indoor pool is about 3 metres by about 3 metres and about 2 metres deep. Also the kids clubs are quite babyish and boring for the older kids according to my 2 who were 8 & 7. But the sea is amazing and it is well worth going snorkelling.
Heres my reply
Regarding to your inquiry about Swimming pool , we assure you that swimming pools are treated , tested & checked three times per day & actually we are running operation with approximately 1400 guest including 400 child. So if the hygiene was the issue that mean we would have had a serious troubles.
and what can i say one off the best holidays i have ever been on
shall put a bigger review on later but anyone going please stop worrying
BRANDOLADY: Great to hear you had a good time.
So glad you had a good holiday look forward to your comments.
Glad to hear you had a great time, look forward to reading your review! Hopefully it will help put all our minds at rest.
Brando lady glad you got home safe hope you made the bus! we got back from the hv as well last night we had a great time, I got the bad tummy but I went to the chemist got the tablets and that sorted it. It didn't stop me doing anything. It is a fantastic place but it is very hot and you just have to be careful. Back to the washing now!!!
Its good to hear from you both, glad to hear you have had a good time, we fly out Thursday, cannot wait to go now
Could someone clarify with me regarding sun loungers in swim up rooms, there will be 3 adults so will we have 3 beds or is there not enough room for that?
