thanks for the feedback i forgott to mention that we also have a four year old boy as well so unfortually one room is no longer an option for us, do you know if drinks are still really expensive if so will have to take vodka, tia maria and baileys with us again, saves a fortune on bar bills.

lymras location was great we were in L114 L115 wich was right by the path to reception so didnt have far to walk so if theve been refurbed we will try to get same rooms

We found the drinks pretty expensive, cant remember exact prices as we are not big drinkers and tended to make do with the included wine, beer, soft drinks and bought loads of the 1.25 Euro bottles of water, but spoke to others that commented and I had a couple of cocktails which I think were about 12 euros (I thought that was OK though as I expected to pay similar to home in a place like Lykia.) If you like Baileys, voddie, tia maria etc I would pick up some in the duty free on your way out.

Regarding Lymra, I am worried now as a result of your post I looked at the bathroom on the Lykia website that you mentioned, the one with the square posh sink lol and we didn't have a sink like that in our bath room, so I dont know if they have had a complete refurbishment of just been 'spruced up a bit' by them painting them. It might well be worth asking when you email them if the rooms have had a re furb.

To be honest I got my fortnight, which was last two weeks of July, for 2.3K, 2 adults, 15 & 13 year old. At that price I would have been happy in a Garden Room (or under the stairs lol)

People we spoke to in the Residence has paid 8K for two rooms for the same weeks and were eating the same food and looking at the same sunsets. We only spent from 5.30pm to 7pm in our room each day anyway.

what a fantastic price you got your holiday for, who did you book with ? my travell agent must think its christmas when i book lol. The first time we went we spent in prisoner cell block G and had to pay more than that.

I booked with Airtours in May 07 for July 08. Paid 1K for each adults, 300 for the 15 yr old and a free child place for the 13 yr old.

Alledgedly Airtours web-site was up the creek when we booked and wasn't adding on all the supplements, so unfortunately I don't think it will happen again. Especially now they have been taken over by TC.

I only know this as I spoke to another family, 2 adults, 17 yr old and 14 yr old & she had got a similar deal booking in the same week as me. Somehow she had ascertained that there was a web-site glitch at the time we booked.

She had been in 2005 and paid 4K for the same room she had for 2.7K so was over the moon. I've been on a fair few packages and I would say 4K would be about the right price for the holiday/room we had. The food and facilities are second to none.

We (mum, dad, kids 10, 10 & 12) just got back from a fantastic trip to Lykia World (25/7 - 8/8) - we really could not fault the place and can't wait to go back !

I've just posted a review - have tried to cover most points, but am happy to try and answer any other questions !

Many thanks to all of you on the forum, your hints and tips were all spot on and really helped us get the most out of our holiday.

Ive been looking at things for next year, but thinking about it I really just want to go back to Lykia, I dont think anywhere else in Turkey will do it for me now.

yep i know that feeling well chris, nothing is a patch on lykia, the aegean dream was a joke compared to lykia and we were quite disappointed , so anyone thats been to lykia and loved it dont think about going to the aegean dream !!! prices next year for lykia do seem to be quite high at the moment, im sure with the credit crunch there might be some last minute deals !!!

It's probably the combination of the stunning views and the excellent food & drink. I don't really think there will be many places to top it IMHO.

One of the other things we really liked was even though it was getting on for peak season, apart from the two main pools it was pretty easy to get somewhere nice to sunbathe/chill outsit/sit and read.

We used to go down to the Oasis adult only pool and outside under the trees. If we wanted to swim we used that pool and the kids as they are older went and swam in the sea.

It never seemed that crowded away from the main hubs of the village & residence pools during the day and the actual village centre at night where the main bar is.

Considering how many people must have been on site its quite an acheivement that it doesn't seem jam packed. Also I'm pretty sure we could have eaten in the Marina everynight if we had wanted too, but we liked the Residence, we got to know the member of staff who looked after the bit we used, so the service was a bit more personal.

I dont want to go anywhere else in the Olu D area now.

Never even got round to the a la cartes so I have to go back lol

Just got back - The 35 euro per person supplement is for the Japanese Teppanyaki restaurant (a 'show' meal where the Japanese chef cooks on a hot-plate in front of you - it looked very impressive, although we did not eat there) - the other part of the Japanese restaurant was Sushi at 10 euro each.
The Blue Buddha Chinese was great (we ate there twice), cost was 7 euro for adults and 3.5 euro for kids. The service, atmosphere, views and food were all excellent - all agreed it was the best meal of the holiday.

The other recent restaurant change is the Italian in the Residence which is now a-la-carte - we gave it a miss but reckoned you'd spend 20+ euro a head for a 3 course meal.

chris our room was near the oasis pool and the views there are wonderful if you look over the wall into the sea and see the platform ,thats were we got married. like you we preferred the residence restaurant and ate there most evenings.

it does sound like the speciality restaurants have increased in price but that could be due to the strong euro and the pound is only about 2.26 today grr , we are off to turkey next week so lets hope it goes up a bit as we are going s/c and could be in for an expensive hol

The food in the included ones seemed so nice and with a couple of teenagers it just worked out well. My daughter is a pasta & pide girl and my son loves steak, very often they were cooking various kinds of fresh steaks, entrecote, fillet, sirloin etc in front of you as part of the 'show cooking' so we really couldn't go wrong, one night it was Chateau briande - lovely. DH loves fish but the rest of us are not fussed with it so buffets work well for us. I think the Italian was adult only and we didnt want to be seperate from them.

It must have been a beautiful place to get married. I probably looked down at the spot where you stood when I was at the edge of the infinity pool drinking in the wonderful view.

I am sure the prices in Akyaka will still be reasonable as it's off the main tourist trail.

yes i was swimming in that infinity pool 4 hours before we got married watching them getting the plaform ready it was a really strange feeling.

sadly we didnt get any steak at all at ADR , just dam turkey now i know i went to turkey but didnt expect to have it on menu every day lol

my mother has said akyaka prices similar to last year, but as a few people have mentioned its the soft drinks that add up, like you i dont drink much, so i was fine on soft drinks during my hol to lykia

I know I sound stupid but it's little things that impressed me. The help yourself soft drinks were actually proper coca cola, 7 up, tango I could just tell. I don't drink much alcohol so I tend to drink them here & not Sainsburys own etc. Bearing in mind what they cost in Turkey it must have saved us a small fortune as it was nearly 40 degrees most days.

I just assumed we would get that syrupy sweet tang stuff that lots of AI's use. We got that in the Belcekic Beach (a hotel I also rated) and I disliked it so much I drank the wine or larger with a bit of the lemonade mixed in instead. LOL.

how does lykias food compare with the belcekiz beach out of interest chris

I still haven't done a review yet either doe - I'll probably get round to it when the kids are back at school! I am very interested to hear how Lykia compares to Belcekiz Beach and Aegean Dreams doe and ellie meg - had thought of booking BB previously but I don't think they do family rooms, which put me off. I'm trawling for quotes at the moment for same time next year and can't get it below £4,200 at the moment.

Was reading on another forum that yes OMG the tepenyaki is 35 euros a head Well I'm glad we didn't book that on my assumption of a misprint I thought the supplement for the Blue Buddha which we did try was reasonable enough. Just made a change to have waiter service, and you can still have the "house" wine, beer etc.

Hi we returned back from Lykia World, in Jun 2008 and it had been our 6th trip, we were all really poorly with sickness and diorrhia, we went to the docs and all had treatment. Hubbie had to have an injection as he couldn't stop throwing up. Anyway 4 weeks on we were still not right and had tests done, I had someone from the Department of Environmental Health on my doorstep the very next day Lamia Guardia was the result. My suspicions were the residence pool. Have taken up complaint with Thomas Cook, that week we were there, there were quite a few suffering with the same illness. If anyone does come back with these symptoms you need to take a sample to the docs.

anice lykia is miles better in most ways compared to aegean dream, the beach in aegean is probably better and the fact you can walk into turgutreis unlike lykia where you need to use a taxi, and also cos its an all you get more free drinks selection, but thats probably it . the biggest difference is the food , lykia is by far superior in every way, quality, selection, i would put ADR as 3 star for food it wasnt great, the rooms in lykia were better, the views in lykia are better, the entertainment in lykia better, more pool choice in lykia, lykia was cleaner, the staff in lykia were nicer, safety in lykia by far better, had quite a few dodgey experiences in ADR,lykia deserves its 4-5* i would say ADR is more 3* in general. i think cos ive stayed in lykia you cant help but compare it to every other 4-5* hotel you visit after, nothing comes close

The food in the BB wasn't qas good as Lykia but it was still great IMHO although that was in 2006. (sounds as though it was better than the ADR Karen, but Lyn will be able to tell us soon).

Lykia wins out though as you have the choice of 3 included resturants, with the village, the residence and the Marina, not many hotels have that kind of choice. I think the one at the childrens paradise is included free at lunch time as my kids went there a few times, but me and DH didnt bother with lunch (too stuffed LOL).

Anice the BB is no good for families of 4, unless the kids are over 12 in which case you are paying for 4 adults anyway so might as well have two rooms. Then its as expensive as Lykia.

I got round it booking one room for 2 adults & a child & got a free kids place for DS under 12. I booked DD over 12 a single room as the single sup with Portland was only one pound a night with Portland. So I only paid for 3 adults even though 4 peeps were going.

Lykia more multicultural. The BB was definately a Brit resort, plus a few Turkish people.

The one thing that is better about the BB is its location, you can wander into main street of Olu D each evening. This is a huge plus over having to get Lykias taxis. Also the free buses to sugar & suarah go from the BB so that great.

BB's pool area is a bit of a nightmare in the main school hols, compared to Lykia as its still the same pool from when it was a HB hotel but now its AI its jam packed. Probably fine in June, Sept. though.

Just seen your post Carol, weird isn't it I have also been a bit poorly since I got home (only me as per other three are fine) Nothing while I was there though.
