Someone must be getting a free lunch if they can get away with charging someone £16 commission on a £20 transaction, debit card transactions cost companies a few pence in bank adminstration charges, so this is pure profiterring. Its all very well having no fuel surcharges and making a big deal about it but they have just made up a debit card surcharge instead.
Obviously the overall price is what matters with any purchase, but ryanair make a big noise about its cheap fares and is criticised by the media for its add on charges, but they claim that these are avoidable and in this case Maggiemae has chosen online checkin and no hold luggage to avoid these charges, but has been hit with an 80% increase for using a debit card which is an unavoidable charge.
I shudder to think what they charge for credit cards, Maggiemae , i agree that a charge per transaction is fair , but in the world of ryanair any charge is possible.
