I applied on line, slightly confusing as you have to answer questions with a NA rather than leave them blank. Price for two was £78 for a 6 month VISA. It's tempting to go for a 12 month one but I can't be sure we'd use it. It's 18 months since our last visit.... there are too many places in the world to visit without going back to the same place all the time
Supplying a pre paid recorded delivery was £5.05 return, £4.60 outwards. Unless I happened to be next door, a better option than going in person.
Total cost about £44 per person. Not exactly cheap and definitely just a tourist tax.

:think when you apply for your visa does it have to have a certain amount of time on it before you go and when you come back,i know it has to have 6months but as i am not going till feb09 i was thinking of getting it now what would you all advise thanks liz.

If its more convenient for you, I'd go ahead and get the visas now. :)

when printing them off,do you print them off after each page completed (filled in),thanks

No Les, when you have filled it all in there is only one page to print. It just feels like you are doing pages and pages because of the way it is set up. Good luck

Once your passport comes back with your visa in it you will forget what a hassle it was and start getting excited about your holiday, just like I did :sun2

Squigs where were you when I needed you? ;)

mine has now gone posted yesterday....with the restricted area permit too despite my pc crashing the money still left my bank so i decided to fill in the restricted form to prevent it being cancelled/refused, Darjeeling was planned anyway.
It's nerve wracking waiting now, does anyone know of anyone who has been refused?
I had a nightmare last night.... me trying to sell my tickets on ebay :yikes

Hi judsmiles,
just thinking that your application may take a bit longer to process if you have applied for a permit for a restricted area. Maybe someone on the forum who has also applied for a permit could advise.
Good luck! Steph

Has anybody had any success with postal applications? Do you have to go High Commision to pick up ones passport or is it still very much like last year where they post it back to you. Is it stll £30 for the visa or has it gone up?

Thanks.
