HI im lorna just found & joined going to club juliain marmaris with my 17 yr son 16yr daughter & her two pals first time in turkey dont know what to expect there are another 13 going to club excelcier they have all been befor so any one with any tips for me i would be greatfull
Welcome to the site, you will find lots of information on here, many members are pretty knowledgable about Turkey and we are a friendly bunch too
I have never stayed in Marmaris so I can't tell you too much about it or your hotel but I did live in turkey for a few years so i can tel you a bit about Turkey.
Firstly Turkey is a lovely country and the people are among the friendliest you will find. Your daughter and her friends will get a lot of attention so watch out for them, those Turkish men are real charmers - I should know, I married one
You will find Marmaris great for shopping, be prepared to haggle in the shops and markets and you will get some great bargains - clothes, shoes, jewellery, rugs, leather, pottery etc.
Are you going b&b, HB, AI? Turkish food is wonderful, I love it,; lots of different kinds of kebabs, vegetable dishes, Turksih pizza, salads and of course the very sweet desserts. Local beer, Efes is very good too, wine is not so good and very expensive as are any imported spirits. Local spirits are cheap but watch out for Raki as it can be lethal.
If you are prone to mosquito bites buy yourslef some lemon cologne, it is very ccoling and keeps the little pests away. You can also get a good repellent by Johnson's called Off, it is the best thing bother you a lot.
You will get a lot of friendly banter from the guys trying to get you to go in their restaurants, if you don't want to go in just say "no thank you" and go on your way, always works for me!
When you arrive at the airport you need to pay £10 for a tourist visa, you just get in the visa queue, get your stamp then go onto passport control, just follow the crowd and you will be fine.
I'm sure there is loads more I could tell you but I can't think at the moment, let me know if there is anything else you want to Know about and I will try to help. There are also a lot of people here who know about Marmaris can help too.
Have a great holiday
Kedi
We were HB and the food was excellent. There are 2 pools and it gets very warm there as the hotel is situated inland in the Armulantan area. The dolmus stops nearby that take you down into the beach area in about 10minutes.The Club Excelsior is not very far away from the Club Julian. It is very very near to a Mosque so take ear plugs as you get woke at 5-6am.
There are lots of good bars nearby. If you look at the reviews on here and Trip advisor there are lots of photos.
If you put this on the main Turkey forum there may be members who have been to the hotel this summer who will be able to give you more up to date information.
jay trip for your information i will take your advise and post on the main forum

Hi just joined this site, had a look around but can't find exactly what I need so hope this is okay to ask. I have recently bought a two bedroomed apartment to rent out in Hisaronu and need some advice on where to buy kitchen utensils (plates etc) and curtains. Can anyone help!!!!!
Hi Have you tried Migos or Tansas they sell this type of stuff..
thanks!!
When I lived there I got a lot of stuff from Gima, Tansas and Migros or in the local markets.
Hi, could anyone please advise me on the beech in icmeler, thinking of going to the Babadan appartments in may with 2 small children, and have hear a few dodgy reports about the beech, is the sand suitable for young kids, does the sand hurt your feet? thanks
There are sandy areas at both ends of the bay, near the Golmar hotel and beside the cafes on the slope up to the path that leads to Marmaris. The middle section where all the sunbeds are have mainly shingle but there are a few sandy areas. There was lots of children all over the beach when we were there last October. If they have crocs or those sea shoes they will be fine.
