Been to Majorca and Benidorm with globespan packages and both times faultless, you get directed onto the coach transfer as per any other company, and return times posted on the hotel notice board and the coaches have always been on time. There were no reps at my hotels but unless you want to book over inflated excursions we never use them anyway. Have booked Benidorm and Gran Canaria packages with Globespan this year as I honestly think they give great value for money, far cheaper than High street travel agents. If you can do without the reps then there is no difference apart from the price. :cheers

I have been going DIY for the past 2 years so don't use the rep anyway. Globespan are cheaper than DIY for Turkey now that they fly from Glasgow to Dalaman for under £200, no other Tour OP can compete with that. I think I am going to book with them but we are going as a group so need to make sure everyone agrees

I work for one of the biggest employers in my area and most of the people I work with use Globespan for their holidays and have no problems doing so, so they must be doing something right. :sun2

Does anyone know what the seat pitch is on Globespan from Edinburgh to Sharm?
Reply
bridd,

Are you on the GSM571/2? If so, they are currently operated by a Boeing 737-800. Seat pitch is 30".

Goodness. That must be about 6.5 hrs on a B737 with just 30" pitch. Hope the flight isn't full.

GSM have done Manchester to Canada, via Iceland with 737's before now! Albeit in a slightly roomier configuration.

Thanks guys.
It's 5 hours 45 minutes. We can pay extra for emergency exit seats. £12.50 each way per person, so £50 altogether. Not sure whether to do that. I'm not very tall but my other half might appreciate the extra legroom.

...it seems these exit row seats are draughty, narrower and have fixed armrests. Anyone sat in them?

bridd,

I wouldn't say the seats are any narrower on this aircraft type, but it can be a little draughty / cooler around the doors and the armrests are indeed fixed for safety reasons. This is common of aircraft rather than Flyglobespan specifically.

Hi Dazbo
It says on seatguru that the seats are narrower because of the armrest. Maybe it means the seat is the same but you can't put up the armrest?
Reply
bridd,

The armrests are fixed for safety reasons and the tray table is stowed inside; they fold out of the armrest which is why it's a fixed unit. This makes the actual armrest slightly wider than normal and therefore the seat maybe 0.5" narrower. I can't say I've ever noticed much of a difference when sat in those seats and the extra legroom makes up for it. It's difficult to be pc here, but if passengers in those seats are wider than normal, they may feel the difference more.

Managed to book the exit row seats for the outward journey, but there are none left for the trip home. Bother.

I did the Edi-Sharm flight in November with Globespan and will be doing the same again this year- didn't find any problem with the seat pitch without being in the exit rows...

Thanks for that Meerkat. Hope you don't mind more questions. We are planning on NOT booking a meal on the way out as I don't usually like them. We take our own picnic. Do Globespan allow you to buy coffee etc on board or is it just those who book a meal who get coffee?

Hi Bridd - anyone can buy coffee/tea/soup/alcohol and soft drinks, and there are snacks and also hot/cold sandwiches. They do meal deals to buy too - ie things like coffee and sandwich/biscuit together for less than individual cost of items. I have noticed on Globespan flights that there can be a problem on the homebound flight with them running short of supplies in terms of sandwiches but they have never run short of coffee so you should be fine.

I find their selection of stuff pretty good, and not as expensive as some of the other low cost carriers. I usually partake of their wine deal and a baguette! Just booked my flights to Sharm with them today - I am very happy with Globespan in terms of quality and service for the price. It is quite a long flight, but worth it!
