hi all,

i need a good address (where i am likely to get a satisfactory response) for a complaint i have regarding a flight from barbados to manchester. it was called tom652 and the boarding pass says thomson airways but it was a first choice plane. i know they are all the same now so would i write to tui, thomson airways or first choice? also, the flight was on the way back from an ocean village cruise so would i copy in carnival, ocean village or p&o.
plus, who's responsibility is sorting out the passengers wellbeing when there is a delay (with regards food & drink and accomodation)?? is this the airport, the airline or a company called seawell air services?
plus i would quite like the official explanation for the delay so should i write to the caa? as i would also like to know how it could happen (what we were told caused it would be laughable if it wasnt so annoying and costly)

i should point out that the on the whole the flight crew were excellent during this nightmare.

any advice much appreciated.

tuppence,

Please refer to your post on the Thomsonfly thread. Can you only post on one of the threads please to avoid duplication.

Hi,
firstly apologies if this should be on the Thomson thread - I'm a little confused as to whether ours is a FC or TOM flight (if it exists at all!). We're booked to go from LGW to LJU on 28th February (went last year as well and it was definitely a FC flight then), booked through First Choice (Ski). However, I'm a little confused/concerned as I can't find a timetable for this route at all from FC or TOM (flight number on confirmation is TOM4615 although I believe this to be a FC flight really).
Can anyone (Darren?) confirm whether this flight still exists or will we be cancelled/bumped onto another carrier?)

Many thanks
Dave

Your flight exists, and it will be on what was an ex Thomsonfly aircraft.

It will be on a 737-300 just to forewarn you there is no entertainment on this aircraft(including music stations)

landerd,

Welcome onboard :tup
Don't panic, your flight is still on the system! It's showing as:

Dep LGW Sat 06:55, Arr LJU 10:10, Thomsonfly Boeing 737-300, Flight No: TOM4615
Dep LJU Sat 11:05, Arr LGW 12:25, Thomsonfly Boeing 737-300, Flight No: TOM4616

If it's a ski charter, it won't show on the FCA/TOM flight listing as it's a charter and not available flight only.

EDIT: BY-TOM-AMM-FCA beat me by a minute :rofl

Thnaks chaps,
that's what I call a speedy service :D
Mainly I was confused/concerned as I couldn't find the flight listed on the BAA/Gatwick timetables (scheduled and chartered), but I guess that's not a huge surprise.
No entertainment isn't too much of a worry though as it's only a couple of hours and keeping my 10yo autistic son still/quiet for the flight is entertainment enough! :)

Harlowgirl,

It'll be a Thomson Airways aircraft by then, but from the former FCA fleet. It will be similar menu to that, yes. But given you're travelling in 7 months, it's likely to be revised before then.

Thanks again Darren :D

Thats sounding like a normal menu rather than the Zilli one, hopefully I can still take snacks aboard for the kids just in case, 10 hours is a long time if whinging kids are hungry isnt it ? :think

Harlowgirl,

Won't be a Zilli meal you'll be glad to know!!! I'll not say too much on that subject but I didn't care much for them either! You'll have the seat back entertainment system to keep them occupied so I'm sure they'll be fine. Snacks are available to purchase onboard as well (Pringles, malteasers, kit kats, chocolate etc).

Yes, we'd better start saving for the snack & drink trolly, roll on August, sad I know getting so excited so early but this is our familys holiday of a lifetime & the dreaming of it all is getting me through these miserable weeks of doom & gloom :)

The current plan(which believe me, changes daily) is to have Zilli meals on long haul and standard meals on shorter flights.

The reason why it isn't zilli meal is because the company are getting an overview of feedback, they chose the ex-fca fleet to stick with their catering and whilst we were still under the zilli contract- use the ex TOM fleet to get feedback on that.

They are also toying with the idea of removing the choice of food on long haul in economy as it causes complaints when everyone doesn't get their first choice- so this winter didn't provide a choice on the ex-TOM fleet and did on the ex-FCA fleet.

As it stands at the moment you will be getting Zilli catering on your flight to Orlando, what that will be is undecided. Because of the increased charge in a long haul meal, the company feel having Zilli catering gives them a valid reason to charge the extra.

Drinks and snacks will come through 2-3 times depending on demand, flight length. You can always pop your head round the back galley at any time to get another drink.

to give you a rough idea
330ml can= £1.20
Ribena=£1.20
J2o = £2.00
Small sprite= 0.80p
Water(500ml) = £1.70

Your better off going to Boots ad buying a selection of bottles to drink.

Anybody got any idea what the films / other IFE are likely to be for long haul flights in March (flying to Mombasa on March 6th)

richstrat,

The IFE listing for March / April hasn't been released as yet.

I posted in December a question about extra leg room seats which Darren kindly answered

Holiday booked with First Choice to Tenerife

So Flight No TOM 4501 / 4502

we paid for extra leg room seats £ 25.00 each way

Flying out Row 13E and 13F

Return Row 12B and 12C

In my opinion these were not extra leg room seats and flight attendants agreed told us to write in on return home.

I have now written 2 letters to First choice and they have offered me a £ 25.00 refund which I have refused .

They are telling me these were extra leg room seats and what am I generally complaining about

I have sent them photographic evidence and report filled in resort

But it is like banging my head against a brick wall

I know £ 100.00 is not a lot on money but i feel really annoyed that we did not receive the extra leg room as advertised.

I always book extra leg room if available on every holiday I go on -

Any opinions or advice

Thanks Ed

Had exactly the same problem on holiday to Kos in June last year - paid £80 for extra leg room seats both ways as they were night flights - but the seats we were allocated were only marginally bigger than "standard"(maybe 1" extra).
Complained to flight crew and got the same response as you; complained on return but got absolutely nowhere - didn't get offered anything at all!
Just gave up in the end after 2 letters. The problem is that "extra leg room" doesn't appear to be clearly defined anywhere. You have a slightly better case as you have photographic evidence I suppose but I'm not sure how you can force the issue.
I just won't bother with ELR on short/medium flights anymore.
Trying to get anything out of First Choice has got harder and harder;we had our holiday hotel changed with only 3 days notice last October - we were given no options other than to take their alternative or cancel. The hotel wasn't as good as the original and we filled out complaint forms (with the support of the local FC rep) listing areas where the accommodation was inferior. After about 6 weeks we received a reply which basically said "tough, you accepted the change, so hard luck , you have accepted new terms and conditions"
Definitely not the travel company they were after the Thomson "merger".
