Thanks Goa Lover
Manchester
hi pamanda, we also have booked the ticlo for feb 3 weeks , ive seen a few write ups on other sites nothing special but nothing bad, if u find any info please let me know! When are u going ? Or have u already been!!
I did pass this hotel when i was over there. it is just off the calangute roundabout on the way to Baga. opposite the tibetan market. I did mean to go in to have a look for next year as i liked where it was situated, close to everything.. but never got around to it. but from the outside it did look nice and clean. hope this helps, and please let us know what it is like when you come back, so i know for my next trip..
We have stayed at the Ticlo the last 4 years and found it OK. The rooms are very basic and usually consist of a living room with fridge, a seperate bedroom and shower room. The rooms at the back of the hotel can be a bit noisy at night as they back on to a couple of pubs off Calangute high street. The rooms are kept very clean and all the lads there were very friendly. The best thing is the position, a few yards off Calangute and a few minutes to the beach. I don't think that you will have any complaints.
As we seemed to spend more and more time down in Baga we have moved on to the Riverside hotel this year. (Jan 27th), otherwise we would have been back to the Ticlo.
Infanterio opposite is great for breakfasts.
Enjoy Yourselves.
I moved down the road to The Golden Moments, which is actually a wonderful restaurant, but they have rooms at the back. This cost us about 10 pound per night for the room, and breakfast!! Thats 10 pounds for both of us, not each!! Again basic rooms, bed, wardrobe, bathroom, fridge, but wonderful air conditioning and excellent staff, as they always tend to be.
Will probably end up there again this year, but I am ideally looking for a privately owned apartment this year.
ENJOY
Has anybody recently stayed at the ticlo for an up to date report???
We have stayed in the Ticlo the last 6 times we have been(we were there at xmas, and will be there again in 46days time).
It is basic but very clean...the staff will do anything for you,and it is ideally situated.
We have become very good friends with the guy who works nights on the reception...Raju.He phones me every sunday night to see how everybody is going on....what a nice guy...
P.S....we have booked to go in the Ticlo for the New Year 2006 already.
at The Ticlo last March/April. It is the only hotel in Goa that I have walked out of.
I was shown 4 rooms on arrival, all were dirty, but finally agreed to one in the left block, behind the pool. The water tank burst during the night, and we were flooded out. Everything was soaked, the manager said it must have been our fault, and became annoyed.
We were moved to another room, and unpacked some of our dry clothes.
The sheets and pillowcases were filthy and smelt, the towels were also very dirty. ( I am used to Goan grey!).
We decided in the morning to find other accommodation, when we packed our clothes that had been in the wardrobe they were covered in mouse droppings!. We had only been there a few hours.
Maybe I was just unlucky, but my opinion is go elewhere.
Just back from Goa & Ticlo. Stayed for three weeks at New Year and it was a big improvement on when we stayed in March 2004. It is basic but seems to have had a face-lift since we were last there. The first time (Feb 2003) we stayed at the Ronil Beach - a great hotel in an even better location, but thats reflected in the price. The Ticlo is what you pay for...we've booked back there for new year 2005/6.
Flew back on Monday and used Ticlo as our base hotel. Had read some horrifc reviews of it and some ok ones so was really surprised when we arrived. Maybe we were lucky because it was quieter but the staff were friendly, cheerful and helpful. Our room was huge and the cleanest we had in Goa. Sheets were clean as were towels. We also found the fan was fine for us as the air conditioning units seemed load and pretty much unnecessary (personal choice though) Location is excellent for getting to the beach, shopping and restaurants. We couldn't fault it so either I've stayed in some real dumps in my time or other people just had bad luck.
I've stayed at this hotel quite a few times and really like it. It's basic but the rooms are large and clean and the staff are friendly. There used to be a small market at the side of it but they are doing some building work there now. I'm not sure whether this is going to be another hotel or some more shops to browse around. Perhaps Rob can give us an update on what's happening there.
we have bookedhotel ticlo for new year 2006. can any one tell me if its o k.
It's certainly not up there with the best but it was acceptable and it's a great location.
