also used Dr Ambert Pimenta in Jan 2008,I got a full set of dentures made for £90 (£400 plus in UK).We go again to Goa in 15 days (7th Feb 09) for 3 weeks flying from Manchester with FC to Silver Sands Candolim, so who knows maybe get a second set made lol.So i can deffo recomend Ambert Pimenta without a doubt.
its no good telling us you had a full set of dentures made for £90 it doesn't mean a thing if you could elaborate a little i.e, what were they made out of, what quality they were, etc etc if i may say one dentist could charge you £90 and another £130 and the £130 being the best value and certainly the best value dentist are not in calangute, "they are tourist dentist" and as such charge tourist prices
I won't be returning to Goa until later this year, can you please tell me where the best dentists are?
Hi Daveswife i dont know them all but i do know some were will you be going north or south
Sheff
there is a femail dentist in mapusa and the one i go to in panjim will get back to you with with there adress
Thanks Sheff - I've had enough of being ripped off my the dentists here. Always have to have something done and I'm not convinced it always needs doing. As we go at least once a year I'd like to get checked out whilst I'm there. The female one would be good as I'm very nervous but have to go as my pearlies are important to me !!
ive had to pm you they would not lett me post it on her
Had fillings after a day on the beach about 5pm, had brige work done at 9.30am (2 hrs in the dentist chair)then straight to the beach and 5 days later brigdges fitted at 9.30am on the beach by 11am just fantastic!!
Would really reccommend this dentist i had 2 appointments in candolim and 2 in callungute no probs
Regards sharon - with beautiful white teeth and a sun tan!!
we used sonja in candolim that chilly recomended, she is brilliant, and doesnt do/wont do anything that isnt needed, my teeth are ok and she told me that just for cosmetic purpsoes they could be whitened but not for another 4/5 years in which time my cap would also need replacing...
Hi can i ask where sonya is in candolim
chilly
ref: soniya naik Gaunekar i have used this lady also, had two fillings which where very big according to her cost me 55.00 uk and next day had major tooth pain went back she said tooth cracked over night and would cost another 55.00 to fix. left it came back to uk and had it removed due to amount been drilled out.
when i have visited ambert pimento or whatever his name i have been to 4 of his places in candolim and callengute, each one gave me a differant price and differant advice. when i asked if ambert would be doing the work they said he is too busy and uses others. as the surgery is on a franchise schemes anyone else had this sort of thing or does anyone know a good trustworthy dentist,

As a dental nurse of 13 years I would be extremely cautious about having any dental treatment abroad, UK dentists have to be on a register and have full indemnity against any possible accidents/problems. I am sure the treatment is a lot cheaper in Goa but were anything to go wrong after your treatment and once you are back home you would have no after care, a lot of UK dentists may not be so keen to clear up the mess. Don't mean to sound negative but as far as dentistry is concerned I would think twice about having any abroad.
well i have used ambert in the past and last year was not pleased (long story) so this year i went to nadia pinto on the mapsa road just up from st antonys chapel and she was excellent. as i am a very nervous patient and had to have one taken out she was very patient and gentle and understanding. i will be using her again. also eddy from the daytripper recommended her to me as that is who he uses.
Just a typical situation. Been in Goa for 9 weeks. Left on Monday, travelling home, ate a Goan polo mint and broke my tooth!! Got to wait 2 weeks for an appointment and will probably have to pay a fortune! Typical!
I don't think it's probable you'll pay a fortune to get your tooth repaired I think it's a definite. Bad Luck !!
I've just noted the post above that advises against having dental treatment abroad.
It reminded me of a conversation I had this year that I found really funny. If anyone is interested in reading it
I was on the beach on my own and a couple I was talking to said "Where's your husband today" He's gone to have a shave" says I.
"Oh no" came the reply "He shouldn't have a shave here, what if he gets cut" "There's no more risk here than anywhere else" says I. "and he has used the same barber here for a number of years, never been cut yet and their hygiene is second to none"
"Well he needs to be very careful" they said. I was more than dissappointed with their attitude but chose not to say any more on the matter, I was on holiday and really didn't want to get involved in a debate.
I settled down to my book and my coffee and as my OH joined me the other couple got up off their sunbeds and said "See you later" "Going shopping" I said "No" he said "I'm going to the dentist to have a tooth out"
I had to stifle my laughs.
Moral of the story - The Dentists are fine but don't have a shave or a haircut

Sorry but I am more wary of money grabbing English Dentists - (sorry my uk dentist is of Chinese origin), that do very poor work.
I was recommended a dentist in Goa, and he is the best.Just be sensible and take advice of friends who have had good treatment.
