Hi, these posts have been really useful-thank you
Do you know if Block 7 has junior suites in it? If not can you reccomend a good block for this room as this is the type we have booked.
Also, would you reccomend emailing to request a block as i have read on these threads or just waiting.
Many thanks
Block 7 is the swim up rooms and I think the rooms above are inter connecting rooms.
When you get a recommendation for a room I would email the hotel and request it.
Does anyone know if the AI beer is Sakara ? ( Not me asking )
thanks for the map cant wait to get there it looks so great for the little ones.
we go 3 weeks today!
I have upgraded to a kids den through first choice when i booked it. I have two girls age 7 and 3.
Would you recomend a swim up room or for us to be near to the heated pool?
Do we need Visas?
so excited!!!
The heated pool in winter is NOT the quiet pool as when we were there its was over crowed and there were children playing football with the pool boys amongst the sunbeds. It was also popular with the Russians.
Block 6 is a lovely block with a childrens den.Go for an upper floor as the ground floor rooms open out onto the gardens.
I am not sure the swim up rooms have childrens dens. There is a shallow end of the main pool which was popular with smaller children as the water was warmer than the deeper areas.
On the pool next to the main pool there is activities for children during the day and I think the swim up rooms are not worth it if your children like playing with others. You also have to walk a short distance to the nearest bars for drinks and ice cream.
Also if you are not lucky enough to get a swim up room with the sun all day(block 7 and 12)you will be in the shade from midday.
Visas are only required if you are leaving the Sharm area to go to the pyramids or Cairo. You also need one if you go to Ras Mahamed marine park to snorkel. If you are told otherwise by the crew or a rep at the airport ignore them.Just write Sinai only on the back of the landing card.
Jay, if I asked for two interconnecting normal rooms on the floor above the swim-up rooms, would I be in a quiet area? It would be nice to have sun on the balcony and I like to be on the top floor (looks like there is only two floors on the swim up blocks). I am not worried about being central to facilities such as the buffet or the a la carte restaurants, or particular pools, quite happy to walk about the complex in the hope of burning some calories off !
Dont fancy being near the 'quiet pool' during the winter as it sounds as if it is anything but quiet. lol.

I think someone posted a link to the hotel map and whilst it is slightly different to the actual layout, block 7 is the swim up block that is nearest to the beach on the map.Jay.
PS, Can one of your children not get you Google earth on your PC,as the image is amazing and you can zoom right in?
will i need a visa to visit st chatherines monastry
When are you going next ? we go to Coral sea Resort on 16th November really looking forward to it
Do you know if we can use the Hv for food and drink with it been the sister hotel to CSR
Thanks
When we booked last year I put in a request for either block 7 or 13, which we were advised got the sun all day. I will email the hotel nearer the time to confirm the request. The other question I have is do the swim up rooms have tea/coffee making facilities does anyone know please.
Thanks all.
Deb
Celine, I think there are a few hotels between the Coral Sea Resort and the Holiday Village and I am sure I read somewhere (here or TA) that you can't use the facilities of the other.
Does anyone know if the rooms have a iron? Also is it a 2 pin plug adaptor that you need?
The HV is next door but one to the CSR (the Laguna Vista is in between) and you cant use the other hotels facilities but there were people from the CSR coming to the HV to look around and didnt get stopped.First Choice also have a travel agency in the HV.I think the wristbands were a different colour but if you want to go and look around no one will stop you.Just say you are going to the travel agency.
Elise, I dont think the rooms have irons and I think the plugs are 2 and 3 pin.Theres a hair dryer in the bathroom and I never take anything on holiday that creases so never take an iron.
Yes we looked around H.V last time we stayed at CSR it was nice but decided to go back to CSR has we know the food and drink were okay.
We spoke to a few people last time staying at H.V and few complaints but get that were ever you stay dont you, and it had not been open long .
So one reason we booked the CSR was as i mentioned above and other at time it was £100 cheaper than H.V but now H.V is cheaper lol
was going to change it but decided not to
May try H.V next year xx
What block do i need to request?
will i need a visa to visit st chatherines monastry
Tried digging through the thread for answers but it's LOOOONG
We're going to HV in July for our first visit to Egypt, and have a couple of questions...
1) Looking to do a trip to Luxor by air - can this be done via FC, or is there a "recommended" alternative. We were in Turkey last year, and the Forum advised using Sarigerme Tours which was excellent advice.
2) Is there anything local outside the hotel worth walking to in the evening ? Nice to get away and see a bit. How far is the hotel from Naama Bay ??
3) Any recommendations for excursions suitable for a family (2ad + 2 ch - 13 & ?
Cheers - prob'ly be back with more questions too...
I'm going to the HV in a few weeks and have been to Sharm twice before (not the HV). My kids are also teens.
First Choice seem to offer most of the trips, but I think they come under the Thomson umbrella now. Thomson were one of the first people to take folk to Sharm in large numbers so they have probably got their act together in terms of what trips they offer. If you want to go with a local company people seem to recommed Fayed Travel so they might be the ones to compare FC's prices with.
You maybe best going to the welcome meeting taking all the bumph and then going into NB and checking out the local companys, I am sure they will be cheaper. HV is approx 25 mins in a minibus from NB.
The other things that seem popular with teens are quads and there is a trip in the dessert star gazing. In the summer months First Choice used to offer a sunset dinner cruise. They may wish to snorkel as well and there are organised trips for this to Ras Mohammed and Tiran Island.
Not having been yet I am not too sure what is in the immediate vicinity of the hotel, although I understand that there are now shops, a mall, various restaurants and bars at Nabq which should give somewhere to go in the evening for a change of scene without having to keep going into NB.
You need to read the visa sticky as if you are going to Luxor, it will be best to get it on arrival.
HTH, Doe
Going to HV for Easter. Does anyone know how much a late checkout room is?( either with FC or direct with HV). Thanks - I kow this has been asked before but a 119 pages is toooo much to trawl through. Perhaps its time to start a new section or edit the existing one-a mamoth job, but it would help weeding the essential info from the unessential (if you get what I mean)
