hi
am i understanding correctly that from may you will be able to pre-book seats on thomson/firstchoice flights in the star class premier section.

debs16,

As it stands, you can't on ex-FCA aircraft but you can on Thomsonfly (all very complicated!). However, once Thomson Airways and hopefully all their systems have integrated following the merger in May, it is hoped it will become possible to 'select your seat' on all flights again. We'll just have to wait and see if they've sorted all their problems behind the scenes, but they are expected to commence things as it's great income stream for the airline.

if you are on the plane for 9 hours what meals will you get? my friend has travelled to new york before and she said she recieved 2 meals and snacks but when looking at reviews people seem to have commented that they only get one meal. also is it to late to change your option of meal e.g from normal meal to healthly option if we are going May 23rd?

Sam :cheers

sammy1988,

You'll get a meal followed by a snack before landing. You can't really compare full fare schedule airline, such as what you friend travelled to New York on to charter airlines. It's not too late to change meal options, but you'll have to contact the airline inthe next week or two.

we have pre booked seats together for our holiday to ibiza leavin from doncaster and basically thomson told us we cant book a window seat or where we want to sit this year because they dont have a clue what aircraft they will be using and if its fc or tom aircraft i just feel it was a waste of our money pre booking the seats and a con because we wernt told that untill the next time we went in to pay the deposit last year .........so really we still gonna have to be there early to make sure we together id like it to be a 767 because we got two row of window seat 2 infront 2 bhind which was great for us having two children this year we have a baby aswell and that seating would be ideal but i cant see a 767 leaving from doncaster to ibiza lol .....we flew from manchester last year and was delayed two hours ....glad we are using doncaster the most delay ive had is 20 mins from there

I have just booked a flight to Cuba with First Choice departing Gatwick on Monday April 20th (Thomson Airways flight ToM067) and returning on May 4th (TOM095).

I appreciate that the outbound flight is on the First Choice Boeing 767 (small 'o' in the ToM) and the return will be on the Thomson 767 (large '0' in the TOM).

I have bought Premium seats but these only apply on the outbound leg so I have to fly economy on the return flight. I believe there are 63 seats in the First Choice Premium Cabin, so how many are there in the Thomson cabin? Also will I able to use the 23 kg luggage allowance on the outbound leg? I know I cannot on the inbound one.

kittykat 09, suspect you will be seated in the middle if you have a baby on your lap.On our recent flight to Cuba on AN EX-fca 767 the flight crew had to move two couples with babies into the middle seats. When we asked why? we were told it was to do with availability of emergency Oxygen supplies;caused a delay to takeoff whilst people were moved around in the cabin. :que

kittykat09,

I think you've been given some inacurate information. The aircraft schedule is known and if you give me your flight details, I can tell you which aircraft you'll be flying on; Boeing 737-800 (wingletted) or 737-300 depending on the day you are travelling. These are all ex-TOM aircraft as FCA didn't fly them. Refer to our What Aircraft? thread for more details. Pre-booking seating together just ensures your party are grouped together on the aircraft. This could be across an isle or one behind the other. This gives you peace of mind that your group won't get split up around the aircraft. You can't book specific seating, ie 'select your seat' at present because of difficulties under the merger; First Choice and Thomsonfly systems weren't talking to each other so the facility was withdrawn. It is anticipated this will be re-introduced once Thomson Airways comes online later this year and the airline completes the merger (from May). I wouldn't worry about getting to the airport early; seating is pre-allocated 24 hours before your flight departs so it won't make any difference. They don't operate the Boeing 767-300/ER's out of DSA, only the aircraft mentioned previously.

songbid,

Welcome onboard :tup
Your flights are indeed operated by an ex-FCA outbound and ex-TOM inbound. Refer to our dedicated What Aircraft? thread for further details. The ex-FCA have 63 premium and 196 economy seats; the ex-TOM 31 premium and 252 economy. If you are in premium on the outbound, then you'll have up to 25kg checked in allowance (this reduced to 23kg on 1st May). This will be confirmed on your tickets. You'll have 20kg allowance on your return flight.

kittykat09,

The aircraft schedule has been available for a couple of months. To be fair to the travel agents, they probably won't know about it and they are correct that you can't 'select your seat' at the moment. Your flight details are as follows:

Dep DSA Fri 13:55, Arr IBZ 17:40, Boeing 737-800 (winglets), Flight No: TOM3536
Dep IBZ Fri 18:40, Arr DSA 20:20, Boeing 737-800 (winglets), Flight No: TOM3537

You'll find further aircraft details and my trip reports on the What Aircraft? thread.

They're the ones Sanji (lovely photo), extending 8ft 2" from the end of the wingtips on the 737-800 and 757-200, and 11ft on the 767-300/ER (when they get them this coming winter).

You've got me taking photo's from the plane  and those oh so welcomed flaps open on touchdown.

We'll be getting you taking cabin shots next Sanji!! The bits raised on top of the wings are actually spoilers (speed brakes). Their roll is to slow the aircraft down while inflight (during the descent) and upon landing, deploy to dump lift (lift arrestors). This has the effect of transferring weight from the wings (where it's no longer wanted) on to the landing gears and therefore giving the tyres more grip to give better braking as well as causing aerodynamic braking. The flaps are the bits that extend from the back of the wing. These give the wing extra surface area, therefore producing more lift and allowing the aircraft to fly at a slower speed on approach. And you thought it was just a photo out of the window; there's lots of technology going on there!

Hi there, not sure if I`m doing this correctly but here goes. I am traveling to Cancun from Glasgow on TOM 348 on 28th August 2009 and returning on TOM 349. Could someone please tell me is this Thomson or Ex FC aircraft and which type of aircraft is it ie 757, 767 and is the seating arrangement 232 or 242. Have noticed many of these questions before and I would like to know too if thats not too much bother. Have looked for someone on same flight to find details but cant find anyone.

Thanx for your help.
