Hello Everyone!
Does anyone know what time the Thomas Cook check in desks open at Manchester. My flight is at 12pm on 30 April
Thanks in advance
This is more of a question for our Thomas Cook thread. Check-in desks, numbers 1-13 in Terminal 1 (far left corner as you enter the terminal) will be open from about 4am. You'll be able to check-in for your flight 3-4 hours before the scheduled departure time.

can any one tell me what to expect and give me any tips and tell me if Im going wrong....am going gran caneria with thomas cook...have a 7.30am flight...so planning on getting to airport by 4am...will take a few sanwiches crisps ect with us to eat before flight as could imagine we will be hungry long before actual flight.....not booked inflight meals as advised to buy drinks sandwitches and fruit after security to eat on flight to keep us going till get something to eat other end........will shops ect be open at that time in the morning
Sounds like you've got most things covered there! TCX check-in desks are 1-13 in Terminal 1 so head to the left hand corner of the check-in area. It won't be busy that time of day so don't worry about queues or anything. I wouldn't worry too much about getting there at that time either, 2 hours before is plenty as the airport doesn't start getting busy until about 6am. Last time I flew out at that time of day, I walked straight to check-in desk and through security, no more than 5 minutes from check-in to departure lounge! Not all the shops will be open at that time of morning, the main duty free will be open and WH Smiths from about 5am, I think Boots opens about 6am, not sure about the rest. The main cafe is open for breakfast.

thanks dazbo5.....just booked my parking ....am a worrier....probably wont get there so early ...but planning so I either get there early or have breathing space if things go wrong.....as package holiday I suppose our seats will already be allocated....or do they allocate them when you check in...if thats the case is it better to be early to get best seats
Thomas Cook allocate at check-in. If you arrive late, you run the risk of getting split up (unless you've pre-booked seats) but if you're travelling as a couple, the chances are slim if you get there 2 - 2.5 hours before your flight.

We are traveling to Disneyland Paris on Sunday and are just wondering if we are allowed to take dairy products i.e. butter and cheese in our suitcases. Flying with Air France.
Cheers

I would have thought the last thing you'd need to take to France is cheese!! Last I heard (post food and mouth), the restriction on dairy products was lifted. My brother and family got back from Disneyland Paris at the weekend and had a great time.
Darren
Really looking forward to it We are not taking packet cheese, we are taking the lunchables packs for kids, as we have a 5 year old and he loves them, they have cheese in them tho. Lol
Thanks again
Emma Xx
many thanks !!
That's a difficult one. It depends how busy they are at the time. I've walked straight through and had bags waiting for me in under 30 minutes, but it's not always like that! I'd say you need to allow an hour to get through and 5 minutes walk from arrivals to the station. That's about average for Mancheter. It has taken over 2 hours though if you hit it wrong! Is your train departing from the airport station or are you connecting at Piccadily? If it's from the airport, 1.5 hours should be ok as long as everything goes to plan.
Darren
Thanks Darren, yes, we are getting the train from the airport staion straight through to oxenholme, is the station easy to find from arrivals ?
It's well signposted so you'll not have any problems finding it. Once you come out of arrivals, follow the signs for the station and you'll walk down the skylink (the walkway with the purple lights linking the terminals). The station is in the middle of the terminals. There's maps available on Manchester Airports website so you can orientate yourself before you go.

Before you buy train tickets see this page http://www.tpexpress.co.uk/special-offers/3/buy-train-tickets-direct-to-manchester-airport.htm - skipping over the discount vouchers, down at the bottom there is a very useful piece of info marked Easements. Cheap price Advance tickets which can normally only be used on the train you booked have a partial exemption for incoming passengers at Manchester Airport. So for example if you book on the 0826 and the flight is late you can use the 1000. Read the rule carefully - in fact print it off and take it with you!
We returned from Fuerteventura to T1 a couple of weeks ago at around 1am. We were lucky getting through passport control - no huge queue, just a few minutes wait, but we then had to wait 45 minutes for our luggage Last year we returned from Tenerife at a similar time of night and waited in a very long queue at passport control. Other times we've got through really quickly. You can never tell how long it will take, and you also need to consider the possibility of your flight home being delayed and arriving later than scheduled and giving you even less time.juby 5 wrote:we return on monday the 8th june at 06.55, my question is, I need to book my train home from the airport and wonder if I would give us enough time to collect luggage and get to train which departs at 08.25 ? or would this be cutting it fine ?
thought while we were on subject of trains I would ask one myself.....we live in north wales...are there any trains that run from manchester airport to north wales or chester for a connection....we usually drive and use parking....but would be handy when hubby not going as only he drives and means he takes us and picks us up
thanks for information...checked that one out.....for our hols in july there is one ....with only 1 change at crewe but it only arrives at 7.04am .. and our flight is 7.30am ...no earlier trains...so not on for july....but one for august arrives 8.04am ..no earlier trains... and have a 10,30am flight I think...but 3 changes.....the one with 1 change was a monday ... the one with 3 was a wednesday......if one train was delayed we would be in a pickle....so not for this year...but handy to know about
We're staying at Bewleys the night before our flight, how long does it take to get from there to T1?
We're planning on pre-booking our seats (when TC eventually get back to us). With this in mind how many hours before our flight would you recommend us getting there?
We've got an early flight and will want a breakfast before getting on the plane, is there anywhere decent that will be open at 7/8am? Or are we better eating in our hotel.
I am trying to book a train for our return, we land at 7.15am, what time would you recommend booking the train for? Baring in mind we have to get to the station.
Sorry for all the questions
Thanks
ETA: Just seen the train responses above, duh!
Bear in mind the easing of rules on Advance train tickets is from First Transpennine only, other operators may not be as imaginative/helpful.
Bewleys hotel is near the station see http://www.manchesterairport.co.uk/manweb.nsf/AttachmentsByTitle/M56toLongStayT1T3.pdf/$FILE/M56toLongStayT1T3.pdf - in distance it isn't far to T1 but the road layout is a pain, if there isn't a courtesy bus then walk via the station.
Tweetie Pie,
At present there is no direct service, you have to change at Crewe or Manchester Piccadilly. But from mid December the current N.Wales-Chester-Warrington-Manchester service will be extended to serve the airport now that they've built an extra platform.
