gonna cost me a fortune next year, mine and both kids need renewing, my son will be 17 when i will be renewing, is that adult or child price?
Reply
16 years old and above is adult passport.

When a child reaches 16 years, the next passport they apply for once their current passport expires would be a ten year adult passport.

EDIT: as Clownboy has just been saying

I renewed mine in feb this year but got married in may abroad so needed my maiden name on it. I now have to pay £77 pound for a new one in my married name :que I think this is a rip off as it's not a new application just a name change. Is there a law to say I have to change it as I only use it once a year. I've booked next years holiday in my maiden name and plan to do this till it expires. Am I breaking the law by doing this as I don't want to be arrested 10 years down the line when I need to renew it again :que

you can call yourself anything you like as long as it is not meant to defraud then its a crime, if your passport is in your maiden name it doesn't matter as there is no law to say a wife has to take her husbands surname when they marry, just make sure you
1] always book your holidays in hubbies name and your maiden name
2] carry a copy of your Marriage lines
3] any kids traveling with you from a previous encounter are booked in their registered name [and the passport says the same]

many will say unnecessary but do you want to be the one singled out??????

I agree with what Wizzard says. I got married the year after receiving a new passport and I used the passport for the following 9 years. I never found it necessary to carry my marriage certificate with me though.

Thanks guys, I'll book all hols in my maiden name then for the next 9 years anyway. :D Just hope hubby doesn't book anysurprise holiday for me in my married name then. ;)

I didn't change my passport for a couple of years, I just made sure I booked things in my maiden name. I think I would have to wait a long time before my husband ever booked a surprise holiday :rofl

I'm not sure what the rules are regardin how much time should be on a passport for Portugal but if you need to renew you should have enought ime. I just sent my daughter's passport for renewal and it came back in less than 2 weeks.

you need to have 6 months left on your passport. if you need to renew do it check and send at the post office it will be back to you within 2 weeks.
i have recently done my 3 childrens passports all returned within 2 weeks.
do it asap for your peace of mind.

hi al
as mentioned before

you only need to have 1 day on your passport to travel through out the EU, as long as your passport is valid on your return trip it is valid,, the only reason for passport is identification, most eu countries except identity cards for flying to and throw but in england we dont have them, that is why you need a valid passport for ifdentification.

the main reason you used to need 3/6 months left on your passport was in case you fell ill or had an accident etc, but this does not apply anymore for trac=velling with in the EU

i have been to alot of eu countries in recent years and also with my children with les then 1 month left on their passport..

dont worry as long as your passport is valid it will be accepted

thanks

I need to renew my girls passports they have 5 year ones at moment but are now 19 and 17, I know they both now need adult 10 year ones im confused will they need to have an interview or can I just renew them from their old ones (with new photos changed a bit) Thanks
Reply
They won't need an interview - just a renewal for a 10 year one with new photos.

Hi cfcfan ... only adults who have never previously held a passport in their own name require to attend an interview. That includes children who were previously only ever included on their parents passport.

As your girls currently have their own child passports which they can use until expiry, the change from child passport to adult passport is treated as a renewal rather than a new application, and so no interview is required.

i refer you to my post on the previous page.. it doesn't matter about so called EEC regulations at the end of the day it depends on who you have booked with and who you fly with, if you do not meet the requirements of the provider/carrier they can and often do refuse to let you fly, [and you will not be entitled to a refund if you fall fowl of the small print] i have seen it many times myself [and for those who watch various episodes of airline will have seen it almost a daily occurrence]
