hi, just returned from my holiday to mexico flying with thomson and we only had 29" legroom and no seat back tv on the out and in coming flights .Thomson said it was due to a technical fault (but both ways i dont think so)having looked on the internet since i come back iv read that this is happening a little too often to be technical and i think thomson are being less then truthful,If thomson can provide 33" legroom then they souldnt be advertising it as standed on all long haul flights.would like to here from any one else thats had this problem thanks julie
Thomson have been experiencing recurring problems with an aircraft and you were unfortunately mixed up in it. You were presumably on the TOM196/7? Your flight was swapped from a former First Choice aircraft to one of the Thomsonfly short haul configured aircraft. You were on G-OBYH outbound (no seat back IFE, overhead CRT screens) and G-OBYI (seat back IFE) on your return flight. The alternative was to suffer heavy delays until aircraft were servicable.

Hey, yes the same thing happened to me. Still not heard back from any letters I sent or other families in our party. I agree with you that they shouldn't advertise it if they can not always offer it. I suggested to them in my letter they have a Stand By Long Haul 767 in the event of this happening.
Its very poor that you diddn't even get seat back IFE on the outbound we went in and out on G-OBYE which had the seat back IFE so it was not so bad.

I am looking into booking my wedding party's seats for our flight to Cancun on the 11th October from Manchester (Tom144). I think its a ex First Choice 767 300 as I did post earlier in the year, hope this is still the case?? If this is the case I was looking to book seats 15 a&b through to 19 a&b I just wanted to check that all these seats have windows? If not which seats in this area dont have the windows?
Also I did the same trip two years ago on a ex Thomsonfly 767 and remember that they played music when we came into land which we both thought was a nice touch, is this still the case? Daft thing I know but it all adds to our guests tropical experience!!
Thanks in advance
From what I can recall all these seats do have windows its just the last row of Premium that doesn't if I remember correctly. Secondly, on my arrival into Cancun on a Thomson Short Haul 767 they did not play any music they just played a video on the IFE about the charity they sponsor.
Edit: The Aircraft may be operated on a Thomson Airways 767 back in the long haul configuration as they are returning some to Long Haul flying.

14AB & 14FG - Bulkhead/extra legroom seats don't have a window either on the ex-first choice aircraft unfortunately.

Wasn't there someone on this forum that was going to take Thomsons to court? Any update?
What route was Julie's flight?
Yes it is Mark one of the HT Moderators, here is a link to last page of his thread on his update.

Thanks
Roger
Rogerdoger,
Thanks
Welcome onboard
EMA-FAO-EMA (TOM7402/3) are operated by a Boeing 737-800 (winglets). You'll find further aircract information including my trips reports on that type on our What Aircraft? guide.

Darren thanks for the info
flight number tom642/643 3rd dec birmingham to montego bay, which is a ex first choice plane B767-300ER we are in the premium cabin there will be two couples.
Because i'm a bit nervous about flying i have decided that although we have booked a al carte Premier hotel and get free sit together i would also like to select our actual seat just to be on the safe side.
Just need some advise on which seats to reserve when i'm able to? Any to avoid? Would like a window seat for both couples sitting two behind two?
Thanx
Seating is personal preference. Apart from the bulkhead (front) rows in premium, they're all the same. There isn't a windon on row 9 though so you migt want to avoid those. You might want to think about rows 2-8 seats A/B or F/G (pairs by the window). I've posted links to seating plans on our What Aircraft? guide.
Darren
Many thanks for your reply
Thanks for your quick reply darren,
It's about the same really although the premium toilet is location on the port side (left). It's easier to get to if you're in the A/B seats although it means slightly more passenger movements.
Darren
Being a nervous flyer your advise helps so much. Its my worse nightmare to be sat on my own looking like a weirdo doing my breathing exercise's lol
Keep up the good work.
Thanx again
