Many thanks for your input once more on my postings.

(Unfortunately !! ) I am only going once on this flight so if it is 30 mins late then that's life - please do not feel obliged to respond, but my original point ( which appeared to get, at best, misunderstood by some others ) was on the lines of your reply - long term inconvenience for airline and crew and my other point ( punctuality statistics ) - and that was why I wondered whether Thomsonfly would, if it were able to, ask for the listed time to be changed if the problem were to continue in the longer term due to reasons beyond Thomsonfly's control but were going to arise each week.

Thanks again - I really do find the topics and sensible responses enlightening.

Why would they want to change it? The schedule is set and that's what they (Thomson) and their handling agents aim to achieve. Whether they meet the schedule or not is a seperate issue and as we've already discussed, there are many reasons for not meeting it. Remember a good majority of flights, not just Thomson, leave ontime. They have slot allocations based on the departure time so can't simply make adjustments to try and keep their punctuality statistics good. As Gower mentions, times are given so that passengers arrive at the gate ontime, plus many other logistical factors. Shifting a departure time is more than just changing the time on paper. For example the handling agents will have staff to cover that flight, who will then go on to handle the next one on their list. If one flight is shifted by 30 minutes, that makes them 30 minutes late in covering the next one and so on. It's like a dominoe effect. They'll keep to the stated schedule as closely as they can, but sometimes they slip.

Papa,

Flights normally open 3 hours before your scheduled departure time, but you should be ok checking-in 4 hours before. Terminal 2 is normally quiet at this time of year, especially in the early afternoon so it shouldn't take you long to get through security.

TUCKER,

You should be able to. As you probably won't have a booking reference, you'll not be able to do it online, but you should be able to by calling Thomson with your flight details.

My son has asked me to take a childs buggy with me on my flight (he doesnt have one and is flying from a different airport) As long as the weight of my checkin case and the buggy doesnt exceed my 20kgs will it be OK,or do I need to pay for the extra item before check in. I have had conflicting advise from Thomson travel agent and Thomson advise line.
My flight ticket states 1 bag 20kgs.

Not sure but have you tried ringing Thomson airline? The number for flight extras is 0871 231 4793. Maybe they could give you the correct information.

pipefitter,

Are you travelling as part of a package deal or flight only? If on a package (charter flight) you can check it in with your normal luggage as long as it's not over the weight limit. If you had a child sat in it, they'd take it as extra allowance!
