Hello!
Was wondering if anyone can answer this:
I'm flying LGW - PUJ - LGW (TOM082/TOM083) departing 7 april 2010 returning 21/22 april - I know it's a 767-300 and configured 2-3-2, which is good! Have reserved seats 27F&G but wondered if anyone knew what reg this is likely to be? I'd love to fly on one of the 76's with winglets! I know the 2-3-2 configs are ex-FCA but i'm not too sure which ones they have based at LGW and whether these have had the winglets fitted?? I know so far G-OBYD/ F and -OOBL have had the upgrade but I live near STN and don't see the thomson widebodies!!
Any comments warmly welcomed!!
Thanks, happy travels =)

daveburkett,
Welcome onboard
Your flights (LGW-PUJ-LGW, TOM082/3) are is indeed operated by a former First Choice Boeing 767-300/ER, but it could be operated by any one of several aircraft. They swap and change all the time for maintenance reasons and don't base any one aircraft at a particular airport. We can let you know the airframe likely to be used the day before your flight. It makes little difference, all but one are the same inside. G-OBYF is no longer in the UK fleet, it joined Tuifly Nordic last October along with G-OBYH. Currently, G-OBYD (ex-TOM) and G-OOBL/K are fitted with winglers with G-OBYG and G-OOBM also receiving them, plus others soon after. TOM082/3 is scheduled to be operated by a non-wingletted aircraft. G-DBLA / G-OOAN / G-PJLO have been used most frequently and is likely to be ones of these as they are the non-wingletted aircraft. Wingletted aircraft are normally assigned to the longer sectors to take advantage of their fuel efficiency, eg Male and Cancun. You'll find further aircraft information on our What Aircraft? guide (see below).

Hi
Thanks for that - I just found an awesome website that lists by flight number the reg of the last umpteenth flights the user desires... I see the most recent rotation was flown by -PJLO which is a new one on me! I guess i'll just to have to hope they swap at the last minute and provide me with winglets! I don't know why, I just think they make the a/c look very sleek and stylish, and on the 767 they're absolutely huge! I work with MD-11's and they have pretty large ones but i'll just wait and hope! I'm hoping to do a spot of filming onboard, as i'm that way inclined, so it would look good for that too!
Thanks for the quick reply! I'll keep watching my new-found resource with interest over the coming 8 weeks! Can't wait!
Thanks again =)

daveburkett,
That'll be one of the ACARS / SBS-1 databases you've found (libhomeradar?)! The 11ft winglets do give them a presence and make them look rather stylish, especially on the rainbow stripe ex-FCA birds. They also give a fuel saving of around 6.5% so an environmental and cost saving too. The MD-11 (and DC-10) is a great machine, I have a soft spot for tri-jets! Be careful with the camera and don't forget the rules onboard. I'll be playing with a wingletted 757-200 in a few weeks, should be fun!

Yeah thats a tidy saving - you can see why the airlines like them! And don't worry, it's a standard, non-transmitting camcorder!! I have done quite a bit of filming and photography onboard etc - and I agree, always heed the safety advice! I'm even considering flashing my STN ID's to the cabincrew to blag a trip to the cockpit
I think I know what the answer to that will be!!
Just as an after thought - have they repainted all of the ex FCA airframes yet, or are they still in their old dress?

daveburkett,
You won't get flight deck access during the flight, it's a big no no even with an airside badge. You probably won't get a visit on the ground either as it's Thomson policy not to allow any flight deck visits before or after flights. First Choice always allowed it at the discretion of the Captain and they are often very proud to show off their office and chat to those interested in what they do, especially people in the business. However, rules are rules.
Some former First Choice 757's (G-OOBA/D/E/F) have had the Tui repaint, but most still have the FCA rainbow stripe. They'll be done as and when following heavy maintenance to keep costs down.

Can anyone confirm whether Chris Browne is still the MD at Thomsonfly please ? Thank you
Have had a look at past posts and cannot seem to see any info.
Are the IFE details available for Long haul in March yet?

The aircraft returns to Newcastle this evening, it should be landing about 10am(07:15sched), The major airports such as Gatwick and Manchester have weekly flights to La Romana however there isn't the demand from Doncaster, Glasgow Newcastle et al so every week or two weeks the flights change so this week GLA-LRM-NCL next week will be XXX-LRM-DSA and in two weeks it will be XXX-LRM-GLA for example(don't know where it will originate from in one/two weeks without checking but it will end up in Doncaster/Glasgow)
As for the delays it will of probably been a combination of things delaying previous flights Thomson has had a bad run of luck lately with things genuinely beyond its control.
