... and don't believe everything you read!
This is a bit of an urban myth, bananas have also been suggested (because they have B12) or garlic. see also http://missourifamilies.org/quick/healthqa/healthqa29.htm
I'm virtually addicted to Marmite, but I don't think it makes much difference, to be honest, as I'm still a magnet for the little blighters! The thing which seems to work best for me is the Avon Skin So Soft - the dry oil spray in the soft and fresh variety (used to be woodland fresh). Last year, I got bitten on the hand shortly after arriving at Dalaman airport, which them became infected, as my bites invariably do! (hadn't thought to use the SSS before that) but used it religiously throughout my holiday and didn't get another bite the whole time - although hubby and son picked up a few.
Vitamin B complex tablets are great, take 2 weeks before you go away and whilst you are there, i can guarantee this will work, i dont have to worry about spraying myself everywhere morning noon and night i just pop 1 pill each morning
Well I stockin up on SOS and gonna buy vitamin b complex to. Tesco had there's all 2 for 3 the other week. Hopefully it still on!
Forgot to say my sister is a frequent traveller all over the world and rarely gets bit but when she does she uses Boots Bite & Sting relief Click it, and says it helps a great deal along with an after bite pen!
hi...brewers yeast does the job....and very cheap too....tweetie
I got bit a couple of years ago in greece on my knee it went funny and turned wart like had to have it frozen off at the dr's still got the scar. What can i use that doesn't smell nasty and interfere with my body lotion and perfume?
Firstly I would advice you to ditch the body lotion and perfume as mozzies are attracted to perfume!
Kedi is right - anything perfumed will only attract the little blighters. That's why I use the Avon SSS dry oil spray - for some reason, the smell of it seems to keep them away, but it keeps your skin lovely and moisturised at the same time.
i love my smellies : - (
Does anybody know if the Avon SSS 'Soft and Fresh' is now just called 'Original'?

Thanks.
Yes, it is, starry - they've just revamped the packaging, so the soft and fresh one is now the one in with the bluey/green packaging, rather than the soft and sensual one, which is the pink one.
Wonder why Avon keeps changing the name - Woodland Fresh, Soft and Fresh and now Original! Will get my supplies in as it is on offer at £2 a bottle or £1.75 for A List Bronze members

You're right they don't like lemon so lemon body lotion may be ok if you can get some, if not then the Avon seems to work too.
Where are you going on holiday?
Yes, the Avon Skin So Soft contains citronella.
I am going to corfu in June
Last Year I added a few drops of Lemon Essential oil to my Avon SSS and also used lemon original source shower gel, seemed to work for me, Bobby
Can definatly vouch for citronella
im looking in avon which one is it soft and fresh? or sensual?
It's soft and fresh or original (dry oil body spray) as it's repackaged now.
