Thanks Darren,
really quick response!!
I've been reading reviews about these planes being "cramped rust buckets"! Also "food runs out by row 7 and apparently people have to stand as so cramped!
I only had the choice between Easyjet and Thomson and because I'd flown Britannia a few years ago decided with Thomson.....only to find that there is LESS room on these planes!
Have been worried about it.
Hopefully will be a fairly young plane and more than 28" seat pitch.
If you are flying it then it can't be too bad!
There isn't a huge choice of airlines but want Thomson to be good as I really hate Easyjet culture
While I respect the opinions of others, to suggest they run out of food by row 7 on Thomson Airways is incorrect. Meals are pre-ordered to cover the flight with other snacks available. On some Easyjet flights maybe as they only carry a certain amout of supplies and do run out depending on demand, especially on the inbound flight. Thomson Airways offer the same seat pitch on comparable aircraft types as all the other charter airlines and only 1" less than the likes of Easyjet. 'Crampt rust buckets' is far from the truth. Aircraft are maintananed to a very high and exacting level, far beyond that of motor vehicles for example. While the interiors may look a little tired on some aircraft, mechanically they are sound. I wouldn't be flying on one next week if that was the case! Age is almost irrelevant with aircraft due to maintenance schedules although they obviously do have a limited life span with some of the older aircraft having left the fleet recently. Thomson Airways are using aircraft inherrited from Britannia with pretty much the same interiors on the 757-200's, they've just been spruced up and are now offer leather rather than cloth seats. The former Thomsonfly aircraft (the ones inherrited from Britannia) have the Boeing enhanced interior fitted with slimline Recaro seats. These give you a bit more knee-room over the seats fitted to the former First Choice aircraft. They operate a mixed former First Choice and Thomsonfly fleet so I can't say which you'll have on the day this far out.
Hopefully will be a fairly young plane and more than 28" seat pitch
The average 757-200 fleet age is 13.4 years (15.3 ex-Thomsonfly / 11.1 ex-First Choice; oldest 18 years youngest 6 years) and they all have the same seat pitch. The only difference is the seat design as above.
Darren
It's hard when reading reviews to know what's true and what's not.
I'm much happier now, thank you.
I've pre-ordered meals and just need to allocate seats (just 2 of us flying so don't know if worth the money)
never been to Sharm el sheikh so looking forward to this trip.
Thank you for your help Darren
Flying tomorrow MAN-GOI.
Nothing yet, I am sure BY-TOM-AMM-FCA will update us as soon as possible.
You may however get Jan/Feb's if there is a delay in changing the IFE over

Just wanting to know, what aircraft operates the TOM292/293 route (man-taba) is it a 757
Going out 31st August, is there any plan to make the fleet the same configuration between ex tom/ex first choice?
Welcome onboard
MAN-SFB-MAN (TOM112/3) are operated by an ex-First Choice Boeing 767-300/ER. You'll find seat plans, photos etc on our What Aircraft? guide (link below). Seating is configured 2-3-2 throughout. Keep a lookout for BY-TOM-AMM-FCA posting the IFE listing, it was released today.
Darren
LGW-DLM-LGW (TOM318/9): Boeing 767-300/ER (winglets)
LGE-BJV-LGW (TOM558/9): Boeing 757-200
You'll find further aircraft information on our What Aircraft? guide (link below).
Darren
Yes, your flights are scheduled to be operated on the Boeing 757-200 (winglets). Both the ex Thomson and ex First Choice flights have the same seat configuration in terms of them being 3-3
Further information on our what aircraft? thread (link below)
Gower
Have read some of the threads on here, so forgive me if I haven't got far enough down a thread, or gone far enough back.
I am flying Gatwick to Sanford in May 2010 and just wondered if you can tell me which version of the B767-300 I will be flying on? Am trying to work out if the seats I have prebooked in Premium are the wrong ones! Code is TOM060.
Many thanks in advance.
Donna
I have just called thomson to get an alternative seat other than 9a/b TOM 052 to goa and they are insisting that it does have a window!! i did try to explain to her but she just wouldnt have it !! think i will call again tonight and try and get someoene else !
J
Hi experts, you previously told me we are flying on a 737-800 on our holiday to Marsa Matruh. I am in the process of booking our seat numbers and want a window seat. Do you know if any of the rows on this aircraft are just a wall not a window. I believe they run wires/cables etc down this.
It's a little early to be sure as May is the start of the summer season so it may change. It's currently a former First Choice aircraft (9 rows of premium seats as apposed to 5). You can't really book the wrong seats in Premium if you've done it online as it should only show the premium seating.
Darren
There are a couple of rows, approximately 9/10 and 12 that don't have windows. Anything forward of them and to the rear of 16 you're fine.
Darren
Just to let you know I booked my seats in Premier for flight TOM 070/071 on May 12th to Punta Cana and the premium cabin was nine rows so I think we can assume its an ex FCA plane. (unless of course it changes)
Very happy with seats 5 a and b on way out and 4 a & b on way home.
Thanks Darren
