Thanks iloveholidays

Been going to LW for 3 years now I always thought that the evening meals started at 7pm.

It was just that someone had told me they had changed. Seems that they are still 7pm.

Due to go (volcano permitting) Friday week

Hello all, am new to this forum but am hoping someone kind maybe able to help me out!
Here goes! I returned from lykia on Saturday, having had an amazing family hol there. However, we left our 3 year old daughters teddy in the hotel room by accident ( terrible mother, I know)!
Anyway lykia have confirmed they have him, but they refuse to send him even if I pay postage... They will however hold on to him for someone to pick hom up and pop him in their case to get him to the uk. Is there anyone going there soon who would be kind enough to do this ? My daughter is pretty upset at bedtimes without him and he is not replaceable as he came from France? CaN anyone help? Of course I would pay the postage for him to be sent to me once he is back in the uk...

hi missymum,

We are going out in 2 weeks time and I fullyunderstand what your daughter is going through without her teddy and yourself with sleepness nights,

however what your asking is wrong, to ask a stranger to bring back an item that could contain drugs inside.

This is and hopefully just a teddy extending his holiday, I would love to help but in this modern day nobody in their right mind would bring it home.

I am sorry but you may have to find another way of try to get him home

send them the money or put the cost on your credit card over the phone with them and then maybe they will forward it.

sorry but i cannot help you.

Gregg, sorry but find your post hilarous, how absolutely mad. As I said, lykia refused to send even withy my payment . FYI, Thomas cook have now actually helped me sort it. Funny that they don't seem concerned about drugs don't you think? Maybe like me having been to dalalman airport enough times they know only a lunatic would risk such a thing! Not everyone in this world is bad.
Cheers

I actually thought the exact same thing as Gregg when I saw your post. Not doubting you for a second but have you not been asked the "are you carrying anything for anyone else?" question?
Reply
Can we try and stick to Lykia world please.

Missymum,

I have to agree with Gregg and bridd unfortunately. It would be an offence to carry anything for another person in baggage. As mad as it may seem, they're the regulations put in place for very good reasons. I know it may only be a teddy and the security risk is minimal, but it's still there. If anyone was to carry if for you, they would have to lie at check-in when asked the security questions and some may not wish to do that. I've been asked to carrt things for people in the past and always refused.

Missymum, I would have brought your teddy home for you if I had been going. I hope he gets home safe and sound!

Hi All
Ive just booked LW for the 1st time after looking at this for about 2 year but it being out of my price range, I have managed to get booked up for 2 wks on 23rd sept 2 adults and 1 child (aged 3) flights transfers etc etc for £1810 do you think this is a good price or not????? Ths is for a family village room
I have requested a room with a balcony but that is a about it is there any particular blocks, rooms etc anyone would like to recomend as i will phone direct holidays back and add this on as a request or do you think I should email hotel direct????
Bit scary reading the reviews on the prices as we do enjoy a drink of a night time but my plan is to drink free up to 9.30 then just buy soft drinks as im planning on buying spirits duty free and sneakily pouring them in as and when does naybody else do this and do you think it will be easy enough (sound like a right miser but would hate a shock when I get my bill)
I have read through a lot of the threads and must say its been very useful and cant thank people enough for sharing there views to ensure someone has a good holiday I normally quite shy and hate asking for things so it takes me sometimes a long time when a broad to get in the swing of things so having all of this extra info will give me a good head start

hi Ronreg,

have pm'd you but the best person to ask regarding family village room is Bridd, i only stay in the residence,

There are a number of room types that *could* be described as Village Family Rooms. The one that LW describes like that is a Category 4, which they reccomend for families with 2 or 3 children so I wonder if that's what you've got as you only have one child? The best way to know is to look at your invoice or confirmation and see if there'e a category number. That will tell us for sure.
Does it mention a balcony? If not, you might have a GArden room, category 7 or 8 - no balcony.

Hi ronreg - That sounds like a really good price. I've been pricing up for next year and direct holidays do have some good prices. As long as you have a confirmed balcony your room will be fine.

Bar prices are high, and the hotel shop and minibar too, but it's a great hotel and worth it. I've also pm'd you!

Happy holidays - anice

Hello there! I'm a Lykia World Virgin
We are looking at going to Lykia World for next year's summer holiday. There will be myself, my husband and our three children.
It's such a 'big' family holiday for us that I would rather book it in person, so to speak, ie. at a travel agent as opposed to online.
Could anyone please recommend a good high street travel agent for good prices/knowledge of Lykia World. We are based in Edinburgh, if that's relevant.
Aleternatively, if you think I'm nuts for doing it this way, please let me know and I'll do it online. I just never seem to find what I'm looking for .... but maybe it's just my inferior IT skills!!
Thank you so much and I look forward to some interesting LW discussion with you. Be warned though, I have a slightly obsessive nature!!! ;)

hi lardylegs,

Nice to see you want to go to LW !! all travel agants will book the holiday like any other holiday, advice about LW will come from questions you can ask on here.

First, there are many ways of booking your holiday from diy to travel agent, and there are great people on here to advise how to do it.

Me myself prefer to book with Thomas cook, Thomson don't do LW, First I check prices online with TC then phone them direct, and double check what i want is included ie inflight meals, extra leg room, time of departure etc

I have pm'd you

Hi all thanks for being so kind with the advice and the pm's (i didnt know what this was at first but got there in the end) unfortunatly I am unable to compose these for some reason so will have to post on forum and Gregg would you be able to pm me again with a few tips I would really appreciate it.
Firstly bridd you may be right with the room but my invoice does not state what cat room it is this is the only expalnation family room (max occupancy 3 plus top and tail in an existing bed) min occupancy 2, shower, wc, balcony/terrace, (family room 3) I have requested a middle floor so as to try and get a balcony. With this description could you recomend any particular blocks that would be good where these rooms are.
Thanks also anice for the pm I like your style and sounds perfect to me if there is any other little bits of cheekyness you can think of I would be grateful.
Also welcome first timer like me lardy legs (class name) I have booked with direct holidays I compared with thomas cook (online) and direct and at the time thomas cook was £30 cheaper but called direct to get a price and they matched the price with thomas cook (but I also told them I had a 5% diecount with thomas cook so saved quite a bit more) cheeky I know but if you dont ask you dont get I ended up paying £1810 for 2 adults and 1 child (which was classed as free) I am happy with this as a number of wks ago I was looking and was coming up at over £2600 for same deal. I hope this helps but I believe there is only 2 agents (direct and thomas cook) who you can book hotel with I did pop into thomson shop and was quoted just under £2500 for same hol so was no good. Not sure if you can email hotel direct to book never tried this but others may have and may be able to advise.
Can I ask does anyone know how much a glass (or bottle) of wine is to pay for and also a pint or bottle of beer/lager just for a price guide, I do plan on a shopping trip to azda but Im also going to habve to be stuck paying for some things
:yikes So Exited hehe 18 wks and will be there ........

Hi Ronreg
sounds like you will be in either block L, O or P. You defo haven't got a Garden room if your invoice mentions a balcony so thats good. All those rooms have a balcony with the ground floor ones having a terrace. Can't suggest room numbers as not stayed in that part. I like top floor myself as with the floors being tiled youc an get noise from above.
Have a great holiday.
My top tip - drink plenty beer /wine at meals - then you don't pay.

Hi guys! Thanks so much for the nice welcome. Great tips ronreg, thanks. I would have no qualms either over playing off the travel agents against each other. We pay so much for these holidays that we have to do what we can!
Gregg, thanks for your PM. You're very kind .... although I have to say that I'm ever so slightly envious over your imminent departure! :sun2 As I said, there will be two adults in my party, as well as 3 children. One of our children will be just under 2, so will be in a travel cot.
Would you be able to recommend a room type for us? Not sure as yet as I haven't done much research, but I suspect that the Residence may be over budget. Our budget would be ideally £3000, but up to £3500 at the max. I suspect I'll have a better outcome at the travel agents if I know in advance a bit about what I'm looking for.
Many thanks indeed! x
