Hi all,

Just returned from the hotel last week... 9th visit I think, and still as good as the first.

Unfortunately I didn't get to check out the gym, we weren't there long enough and between chilling out by the pool and going for a run up to Arminemie we didn't get chance. There was a lot that had changed in the hotel though, so it wouldn't surprise me if it had been improved.

In the BP Tenerife hotel the breakfast is from about 7am-10.30am, lunch from 1pm-3pm, and dinner from 6pm-11pm, although they start clearing away about half an hour before the end so if you want the better service get there early.

Yes, you do have to wear a wristband, although to be honest after a couple of days you forget about it. Having said that, everyone is AI in this place, so it's more to ensure that you are really a guest than anything else.

November... dunno, I suspect it's a bit quieter. June was nice - not too quiet or too busy.

What's changed? Lots of minor things (e.g. more regular bus service to LA, some times for meals/drinks/etc, you have to ask for more at the pool bar than you did) but the things we noticed were that the place had been renovated a bit, there was a bit less choice on food and the entertainment had been cut back (although to be fair it was early in the season so it may improve... but there wasn't much on), oh, and the nightclub was open more often and the bar in the square is now 'independent' and charges everyone for all drinks (and you have to buy one to watch the sports).

Still great thought.

Taxi from the airport is about 35 euros each way, not sure if you can get a cheaper one if you pre-book. We've hopped in a couple of times and it's OK. Its about 20-25 mins direct from the airport to the hotel.

But the coach shouldn't be 4h... even if you were last on the loop it should be no more than about 1.5 hours.

Cheers Gary, has the sports bar changed at all (big screens etc) and is it expensive in there? How often is the bus in Playa now, and what sort of times?

thanks Daz

Yes, they've screened it off from the square with awnings, put up more screens (still not massive, but better) and seem to have more focus on sports than they used to (football, cricket, etc.) - previously it was called a sports bar but wasn't really one. As for expensive, I didn't think so.. about the same as a UK pub seemed to be the consensus. Still get a few moaners complaining about it being an all-inclusive resort though.

Bus to LA is at 10.30am from outside Costa Adeje reception, returning about 2.30pm, and seems to be every day now (it used to be 2/3 days a week, alternating with trips to the GranSur shopping arcade). Remember to pre-book at reception or you may not be allowed on if they are full.

Can anyone tell me if this hotel is acually in Costa Adeje or not as I cannot find it on the hotel maps for this area or is it nearer Playa parisio and is there anywhere to walk or have a drink or meal in the surrounding area other than in the hotel .

many thanks
Mark

mark, if you have a sift through the previous comments it's been answered a few times. I haven't been myself but by the sounds of it, there's nothing anywhere near it, it's on a secluded cliff face. Nearest main centre is about 15 mins drive away.

Nearest place outside of the hotel is Playa Paraiso, which is about a 20min walk. It basically has one road of bars and restaurants, and it about 100m long. Not exactly rocking! The walk back to the hotel is also pretty steep.

Fanabe/San Eugenio is about a 10min taxi ride, and the centre of LA is about 15mins away.

If you want to walk out of the hotel at night for food, drinks and entertainment this is not the place for you, head to the Mare Nostrum or Villa Cortes instead. There's lot more to do at that end of the resort. If you want to stay in a complex and have kids, this is a great hotel.

Thanks, Gary, for the information about meal times and the wrist bands. We're really looking forward to our holiday there, it sounds great :cheers

How is this Costa Adeje pronounced? Is it Adedgee or Adaya or something else? People don't seem to have heard of it!! :que

I believe it's pronounced Adeckay, with the "ck" sounding like the "ch" in loch.

I just booked a return taxi with Holiday Taxis (via TravelSupermarket) and it cost £53.
A tip when looking for transfers to this hotel - they class it as in the area of Playa Paraiso not Costa Adeje.

Thanks Crockett, sounds a bit tricky! Will try not to spit at people when I say that!! :rofl

Julie - say it don't spray it!!! :rofl
Not sure when you (or Daz) are going but if you are there when we are,
perhaps we will meet up for a glass (or two) of cava?

Hi Suzie, will try not to!!

We're going to be there 2nd - 9th November, so yes, if we're there when you are we'll see you there! :cheers

Does anyone know if the minibar in the room is free? Our brochure says the minibar in the rooms is restocked and free, but my husband read a comment from someone that you have to pay for the drinks from the minibar :que

To my knowledge, it always has been free and restocked daily - water and a couple of cans of beer and pop.
No kettle though. Never any problems taking any drinks back to your room - day or night so there is no need to be thirsty :cheers

Re: Adeje - shower cap definitely required if a Spanish person is saying it to you !

The mini-bar was definitely free and was re-stocked every day whilst we were there.

Don't want to come over all Oz Clarke, but the wine at the BP could really stand some improvement. The Fizz wasn't actually Cava and was rather sweet, whilst the white and rose were pretty tasteless. The red wasn't too bad though.

We actually paid extra for a non-AI bottle most nights. I'm only talking Vina Sol, but it was a marked improvement !

That and the breakfast omelettes were pretty much our only gripes though. Lovely hotel all in all.

Thanks Crockett, I will have to remember to pack my shower cap then!! :rofl

Neither me nor my husband drink wine (gives us a bad head!!), he drinks beer and I drink gin & tonic, what is the AI drink like? Is it rough? We've never been AI before so this is a first for us, but I've heard before that generally the spirits are nothing like at home (I would normally drink Gordon's), although after a couple of drinks I don't suppose you notice the quality!! :cheers

Julie - the drinks are fine and if you don't like one thing you can always try another!
It is a good way to introduce yourself to something new :cheers
Try their Irish or French coffee - indeed a very well presented drink.
Please don't worry about anything - just look forward to a wonderful experience!
