Cheers hankpotter for the answers to my queries.
Can you please tell me if the hotel rooms have hairdryers in them, or would i have to take my own.
They have hairdryers in tha bathrooms, not really powerful ones but not as bad as some that I've encountered in hotels
The select rooms are very spacious, walk in wardrobe is great (I believe that the kids den is situated where the wardrobe is in those rooms)
Did you take Egyptian pounds and did you tip with 50p pieces?
I tipped with a mixture of pound coins and Egyptian pounds - 10 Egyptian is just over a pound. If tipping in 50p's or pounds they will need to change their money into notes at some point as the banks don't accept coins - at least I don't think they do, so I think they often ask if you can change 5 pound coins into a note.
Thanks for that.
As for the WiFi - just be careful if using it with an Iphone or a Touch because it will use the allowed time up all in one go so for example if you buy 30 mins hoping to go on twice then you can't. That's what the internet guy there told me plus I found it difficult to get it working alot of the time even my husband found it tricky and he's pretty internet savvy so bear it in mind!!
hi hank i got your pm did reply dunno wether u got it tho new to this hope it helps
Got it, thank you so much for the advice!!!!
So how does the wifi work then as I have an iPhone?
My kids used the Little Stars (3-5's) and the Wavelength (9 years up) kids clubs and had a fantastic time particularly my 10 year old. She did archery, canoeing, raft building, high ropes, fan descender (jumped off the top of a 4 storey building - kind of like abseiling), Survivor (reminded me of 'Treasure Hunt'), basketball, snorkelling, water games etc......loads of stuff that I would never have thought she'd enjoy but she did. It was great for her confidence as she's quite shy. Little Stars was fab too plus I noticed that the Mega Stars (5-9's) do watered down versions of what the Wavelength do so they do high ropes, canoes, snorkelling aswell - although none of my kids were in that one!!!
WiFi worked on my Ipod Touch but it took a while to get it working each time - the signal wasn't great every time I tried it. Took a good 10 mins of fidgeting to get it to work!!! You get a card with a code on from the internet guy who is situated in a room directly opposite the reception.
How much do they charge for the internet?
the kids club do sound great will ask about it for my youngest deffo n the 13 year old can go in the wave length one really cant wait to go now
I think it was £2.50 for 15 mins WiFi
There were a fair few 12/13 year olds in the Wavelength - a few times during the week they have activites just for 12-15 year olds plus they also do family activities at the HV so you can do archery, high ropes, canoeing etc....together aswell. The kids clubs are really strict with security aswell so it's extra piece of mind. This is my third First Choice Holiday Village and they have all been consistantly excellent with the kids stuff - it's the reason we go back!!!
which other ones have you been to?
We were bitten to death by mozzies in Turkey, only a couple of bites in Cyprus - none in Red Sea!! Makes a difference to us anyway.
I would say that overall, all things considered, I liked the Cyprus HV the best only because my sister got married there and the entertainment on the night time was a bit better than the HV Red Sea!!! They had a couple more entertainers from the UK going there.
what about duty free is there a duty free shop in nabq near the hv n can you only go within 48 hours of landing
I'm not sure about the duty free in Nabq - they have everything else there so I'd imagine there's one. Don't know about the 48 hour thing though.
