Hello...
We flew home from Turkey and there were families split up, but all it took was a friendly word with cabin crew and they made requests for people to change seats and some offered so families were not split.
I am travelling in Aug with just me and my daughter (age 5), so if anybody fancies a 5 year old by there side instead of mine... good luck!! (Only kidding, she's a great flyer, thank God).
I hope all works out, I am sure it will be fine.
Speedy boarding means you will be amongst the first to board the plane, with children it is advisable if not paying for speedy boarding to arrive and join the queue early which should give you plenty of opportunity to sit together, but don't just saunter along and rely on the goodwill of your fellow passengers, on our last trip a young lady with children took this approach and was rebuffed a couple of times, before a kindly couple gave up their already occupied seats.
There is another issue on top of paying - will it be a bus or a walk to the plane? If it's a walk and the kids are slow you could get overtaken by non-speedies. If it's a bus and you're not on the first one you could get mixed up with non-speedies who then get off the bus before you.
I'm not too worried re the seating really. Just hoping not to have another KTHY eppisode!! I must say though re that Natwest were excellent, prompt refund to back to Visa for both outbound and inbound flights... For the assistance Steve via other thread.
I'm not sure there is an exact limit because they move so fast they probably won't want to do checks. I suspect they judge it on the day by the size of kids and the size of the mob that will follow! And they take the whole family so it will be smallest kid that counts - or alternatively you could take granny with a walking stick and everyone tags along when they call for special assistance passengers! The real trick is to use your eyes and pay attention, if they are boarding by both doors it's often better to go to the back one because those who want to get off quick at the other end will be pushing for seats at the front.
Booked again for this year and just added SB as I was happy enough with the way it went last year (apart from the ignorant gits trying to push in the SB queue at Palma).
You are quite right Tis it is not neccessarily the system but the ignorant one's who try to get more than they want to pay for. I understand for those with children it is vital to sit as a family, we are a couple of old age pensioners and experience as shown us that we are as well to wait until all the shoving and pushing is over, we can stand to be apart for four hours but in on our three flights to Tenerife last year never had to at all. I can understand travellers who have paid for speedy boarding not wanting to move because some parent thinks the stewards will sort them out.
Also I wouldn't count on cabin crew ensuring you will be all sat together, they can only try, if noone wants to move they can't force people. And please be aware, if you do board last and the crew try and get you a seat next to your child it can be over the aisle or one behind the other, which isn't ideal!
If you choose not to purchase speedy boarding make sure you get to the gate nice and early!
Yeah, I guess it's all chance work... I remember last year my daughter and I were the last on and sat together without a problem, but I know this will not always be the case.
Well there is 15 of us(3 groups of 5) that will be fun in the queue lol
Re 2 passengers with 1 checked in case.
Just back from Spain and the Easyjet lady at Gatwick said that if you booked your flight, including paying for checkin luggage, before mid Oct 2010 you are allowed the 32kg allowance without penaallty, but if booked afterward this date it was the 20kgs without penalty.
We will put it to the test in less than weeks !
Chris
I wonder if I can contact them direct re clarity. Does anybody know where I would go to for info?
ruth ... to contact Easyjet,
Possibly (and from what you say ) maybe the easyjet lady wasnt too up-to-date on the exact date that the change was made and as I had made my booking much earlier in 2010 I didn't need to query this.
She did say that if when you had booked it showed 32kgs they would honour it - as you would expect !.
I guess a call too Easyjet would be the sensible option and hopefully you will be able to post more accurate details than I have been given.
The debate regarding this change was strarted around 22/23 Oct so maybe you are one of the last to have made a bookng to get the additional kgs free.
Regards, Chris
Just looked on my account today because i noticed other compony flights were changing, good job i did we were flying back from dalaman at 11.55 pm they have changed it to 00.35 am think its cause they have decided not to fly on the thursday the 14th and made it for the 15th means will spend a bit more time in icmeler so not too bothered.
hello... how do you check if there are any changes to your flight?
it depends on when the flight is. To keep an eye on things some time off , use the Manage Booking (or MyEasyjet) option. You can also try the basic timetable option but that isn't always updated as quickly as it could be. For changes caused by events rather than planned (like weather) use the Flight Status option but that only works for about 1 day in advance.
Ruth go into your booking and take a screen shot of the page showing you have 32kg....that's what we've done and God help them if they try and tell us we haven't at check-in! I will be fit to be tied!
i just checked my account i noticed the time coming back was different to what it was so i checked on the timetable and it was right.
I have booked a private transfer as I am sure most have. In your experiences re SB are you still in the position where you are waiting with the 'masses' unless you have no luggage to collect??
Sorry for dim post, but I just wanted feedback prior to going ahead with booking the SB.
BAGGAGE = Yes mine does say 32kg in one checked in bag. Hopefully I will ba able to lift it...
