I do not know about waterparks but most restaurants and bars should be open. Perhaps you could be a little more specific about the whereabouts in the Algarve you are inquiring.

Most bars and restaurants for tourists stay open until the October half term holiday then everything winds down until Easter, except for the Christmas and New Year holidays.

hi again, forgot to say where we are staying, hopefully will be staying in albufeira, got a couple of free flights to use up and just going to get a cheap hotel for the week, vila recife looks a good base not too bothered about luxury just basically a bed with a roof overhead lol.

I would certainly expect most places to be open in Albufeira early Oct.

Vila Recife has a bar/restaurant opposite (Eddy's), a bar almost next door (Blue Bell) plus another (Victoria's Bar) just around the corner. The old town centre is 5 minutes walk, packed with more. As the previous poster says, everything is open in October around there.
