Thanks for the info re-the mobile and wireless connections. I will have to pay PC World a visit.

Re-pre-existing conditions and travel insurance. PPP did not want to know. As long as the doctor said it was all right to travel, they were happy. That was the only way my late husband could get travel insurance. I had to see the doctor on the QE2 and it cost me 80 dollars including two prescriptions. At least he gave me antibiotics. The physiotherapist charged 60 dollars for an hour whiuch is less than I paid at home.

Anyone heard from Phil lately or has he decided to stay?

Luci,

Tony, get back in your pram!!

Still in my pram and have not thrown ONE toy out either!

It`s just that in my experience, it is seldom all right on the night unless one makes sure of things beforehand.

............plus I like to have the last word........especially when I`m right.................which is most of the time, of course!!! :rofl

Hi Fay,

I always take my prescription drugs with me on holiday, but unfortunately, l do not have a crystal ball to tell me when l am going to get a raging throat infection or a sudden attack of cystitis. Not conditions which normally require a stay in hospital,or indeed that l suffer from as a rule, but do need strong antiibiotics, which my G.P. will not supply me with "on speck".

Magsy,

Hope you had better luck than me at the Post Office with (both) your E111 forms. The man who served me refused to accept them on the grounds that they had been tampered with.Printing my address I had merely run over a W again as it wasn't too clear; looked a bit like an M to me. Jobsworth or what?

Joan.

Hi Joan, definitely a Jobsworth! What a pain! I got mine with absolutely no problem! They keep one of the forms, presumably for office use!
You can print out another form Joan, check back on Mike C's postings.
These people are sent to try us but never mind, we have Garys report from Armonia to cheer us up and put us in holiday mood!

I am sooooo much a fun person Carol..........I was joking about being right most of the time! (I am a married man.........how could I be right ALL of the time?) :rofl :rofl

Sorry I can`t let my hair down though..............I`m bald as a badgers botty on top!!!  (Self-inflicted, but same result!)

Cheers,

Tony

I'm booked on the Lirica on Sep 17th from Stanstead and would love to hear from anyone who has either been on the cruise before then or will be on the same cruise..

Have our other April cruisers now got their tickets or are R*** keeping you
all waiting?

Tony posts like

Hi Colin

Welcome back from being one of the first Caribbean cruisers. Glad it all went well. I know we are all dying to see some photos.

Just a thought, did you tell anyone that it was a £10 cruise, or just keep that information quietly to yourself!

How easy was it to make new friends? It is that bit that worries me slightly about going on my own.

Love

Kay

Hi Kay, I wouldn't worry about enjoying yourself on a cruise on your own. As long as you are approachable and have a sense of fun, then girl you will enjoy yourself.

Hi kay,

yes i did tell people about the price. If someone asked me why i was traveling alone then i explained it to them. I didn't tell many people. One person that i told then told me how much he had paid fro him and his wife. £2000 !!!!!!!! Okay so he did have a balcony, but that is still a lot of money. He also booked it directley with the cruise company and paid brochure price. He was actually going to book his next cruise whilst still on board. BIG mistake. Usually you can buy cruises at about 30-45% cheaper than brochure price.

Regrding meeting people, there was plenty of opportunity to that ranging from the bars to dining mixing with people on the excursions etc. There is a commonality with every one i.e. your all in the same boat (no pun intended) usually in that kind of situation people mix easier.
As Dizzy says, as londg as you approachable then you won't have a problem.

oh oh, just read this post from floeeohy - she writes that she was told by the travel consultant no smoking in the cabins,

http://www.holidaytruths.co.uk/viewtopic.php?p=262031#262031

yet Magsy was told when she rang MSC the other day that smoking was allowed.

sorry to upset you smokers.

Luci - thanks, and I'm sure you'll be pleased to know I got my E111 stamped this morning. As you say, better safe than sorry - and I don't have to use it if it doesn't seem necessary. Have a wonderful trip in the US of A :!: :!: :!: :!:

Smokey (Carol) - it certainly ISN'T boring being right all the time - I should know, as I'm the sole being in that category. (Why do I hear pencils being sharpened all over the land, and computers being revved up?????)

Peter's Kay - you'll love cruising alone, I certainly do and I know most other solo cruisers do too. And if you miss your other half, there's always the mobile phone - do check you can use it in all your ports and at sea.

Well so much for Rise promising to get back within 21 days of filling in their form eh! I have been waiting since January for them to respond! They owe me a second cruise which I have still heard nothing about despite me telling them numerous times I am available like the martini person - anytime - anyplace - anywhere! I despair. They have not replied to any of my letters/e-mails nor have the Express. The ASA upheld complaints against them which presumably they just ignore. The Daily Express didn't even bother responding to the ASA. Which just goes to show how much they think of their paying customers!

rumrat - keep phoning the DE on their freephone number, they'll soon respond if they know they're paying for your calls. Otherwise, e-mail Watchdog asap and again shortly before they're due back on the air in September.

I've just read the entire ''who's going where and when'' thread, as I thought it may throw light on something or other and I haven't followed it for ages as it no longer applied to me. But now I've seen something I think I should tell you about:

Phillip406 (Gill) posted at 10.51 pm on 18th Feb that Louis told her they've taken NO bookings for R****. But I still think someone or other has a confirmed booking with R**** on a Louis cruise, and not so long ago either. If anybody knows who that is, could you perhaps PM them and refer them to Gill's post? So many people have had jabs, bought clothes etc for cruises that don't exist, and I'd like to do what I can to stop that happening again. If you prefer, you could PM me and I'll PM them instead.

Meeeeyyyy it was lavenderlilly as I recall who was booked on Louis. It was cancelled by Louis after she had a confirmed booking and she was booked onto another cruiseline, but close to the date she would have gone with Louis.
