Where did I hide the ding dong, the coven have just left, well 2/3 of them decended on me this afternoon. Just back from France - missed this, so logged on the minute I got back and laughed out loud even more than usual!! What will we do when we've all had our cruises?

Security seems to have gone overboard over there - they queried a plastic knife in hand luggage (what was it for? - tried not to be sarcastic in case they detained me!) ) - and then called in another security person to check contents of suitcase to see what else I was hiding. This seems to happen to me every time - I always get searched. Wonder why? (must look suspicious....... anything to do with NOT being dressed in Primark or flat shoes???)

They were very puzzled by my mother's antique electrical water heater (which I plug in usually in tv point or fridge as there are never any electrical sockets in hotel rooms these days - there is usually an almighty flash when I remove it but never open fridge to see if it's still working!). This is essential for a decent cup of tea in room. I won't take it on cruise though as I wouldn't be able to do a runner if it went wrong - except overboard They took it away for a while presumably to check it wasn't some sort of detonation device!!

Not having been on a cruise before, does this sort of search take place at each port of call?

Hi Peter, just looked at easy cruise, the good thing about the exterior is you'll always know the ship in a crowded dock no matter how much amber necter ones had, and if on threw up over the side at least it would not detract from the colour scheme. Does any one know if the greek has a deal with Dulux on the orange colour - perhaps he is just colour blind.

Ali - no, our baggage isn't searched at every port because we leave our stuff in our cabins. What happens when you get back to the ship after having been ashore is that you're searched, and your handbag and anything you've bought etc are put through the x-ray machine. (Blokes' handbags are searched too - I thought I'd get the ''jokes'' in before you do..... Oh, and that goes for whether or not you bought yours at Primark).

Glad docs have started to arrive, and look forward to more such good news.

For anyone still interested in the Primark Capri-type trousers, they've got more ranges in, and in more colours. As summer stuff floods in and winter clothes are marked down to next to nothing (if there are any left at this stage, of course), it's worth checking every few days because there are almost bound to be new goodies.

Fay, Meeeeyyyy or Yoooouuuuu with regards to the searching of bags and x-rays etc, will they also do it to my Lidi bags, :rofl I'm taking loads as they weigh very little (they are 4gms lighter than the long life Tesco bags :yipee:yipee), someone said eariler every little helps (in the weight dept), I always thought the weight allowance was 20Kgs not 15Kgs on all Airlines with 7Kgs for hand bagage. (perhaps R*** have done a deal with Alilante (if so just have to get out the chest bag and a bigger money belt, do they still make corsets if so do Primark sell them

Got my E111 loads in Bristol, if anyone wants to travel to the end of the earth for one. Well we do have an International Airport (they fly to Cardiff, Glasgow and Edinburgh )

Byee for now, its a bit early for the ding dong, but a Pimms now thats an Idea - whatever happened to Pimms Number 3 now that was nice

The flip flops sound great, alas l can never wear them, always seem to end up flat on by back , these things sould carry a government health warning...
still no tickets for all of us that are off on the Melody 9th May

On the question of being searched, undoubtedly every cruise line has its own proceedure but personally I have never experienced being searched either at ports of call or on my return to the ship after a day in port!
