Earplanes fom Boots only £3.99 and come in a small plastic case. I've already bought mine.
i saw the boots own brand are they the same as earplanes 
When buying mine I asked the assistant for advice. She told me they were the same.
I have used Boots own brand and they are just the same, but cheaper.

We flew back from Bulgaria last week. Some of us had the original earplanes some of us had the boots own. They both worked brilliantly.

I used them on my flight to/from Malaga, but only one seemed to fit properly, maybe i have 1 little ear 
The 1 ear they did fit seemed alot less painfull though. Is there a right/ wrong way to use them? karen

Something simple you guys might want to try, buy a sports cap bottle of water ready for the landing, and take lots of sucks out of it - they recommend giving babies/toddlers a bottle at this time on the flight. I find it works for me every time!
Also for the little ones, along with the bottle of water, fruit shoot, or whatever they fancy, give them a lolly pop on a stick and NOT a boiled sweet, my daughter, some years ago choked on a sweet and i had to rip off her seat belt as we were climbing in the plane to get it up!
Also, some decongestant about an hour before you land can help too, i buy my stocks from spain where they do a effervescent one which has your nose streaming like a tap - thus releasing the pressure from your sinuses.
Oh, and the stories about drinking the karvol!! they had me in stitches!!

I got some of the Boots own-brand "earplanes" plugs today - they're doing 3 for 2 on all travel healthcare, so I got 3 sets, so we could all have a set on our flight to Lanza next month! We don't usually suffer very badly, but it is a bit uncomfortable, and that feeling can last for a few hours after landing, so I thought we'd try the plugs this year. Earplanes are £4.99 a pair and the Boots ones are £3.99. When I checked my receipt on the way home, I discovered that not only had I got the 3 for 2 discount but an extra £2 had been deducted as well, so really I got all 3 pairs for just under £6
hi all,just returned form my hols this morning.We touched down at manchester at 5.30 am. My left ear is sore and still hasnt popped,any suggestions to clear this. I have tried blowing my nose but still no joy. Catching a cold while on holiday may not have helped
I'm going to buy earplanes, for when i go to Egypt on Thursday. My ears don't pop as such, it's much more painful than that, it's like somebody's trying tp stick a knife in each ear!

the reason your boyfriend gets a head ache aswell is that the cabin pressure is messing around with everyones sinuses(all the little tubes which connect up your ears, nose etc) , most people will find their ears pop which is more annoying than painfull. some people like some friends of mine and me sometimes get quite nasty pain (sometimes really bad) again some people can also get a headache because of the pressure build up in the sinuses causing a tension headache.

Just got back from Sharm El Sheikh last night. Boots own brand earplanes were an absolute godsend! I usually get a severe pain on landing, but with these little gems i just got a very minor pain.
My daughter usually suffers really bad pain in her ears when landing by plane (last year she had it for 2days). Somebody has told me you can remove the ear wax before you fly, and this helps lower the ear pressure, thus giving no pain! 
Has anyone heard of this before? She has tried the old favourite remedy, sucking on a sweet, but this didnt help. Any tips or advice please!

i found listening to music through earphones helped me, i used to suffer ear pains when landing and for some time after, but this year when we landed, i listened to music and it worked.

Unfortunatly most cabin crew will tell you to remove ear phones during landing.

i usually have a bit of bother with my ears when i fly but this time i had an ear infection and was terrified that some thing bad would happen, it did not and its down to peoples tips on opening airways etc....
i armed myself with the equivelent of a chemists shop, 2 different kinds of decongestant, nasal spray, airwaves chewing gum, painkillers, anti inflamatery tablets and not forgetting the usual sweeties. My ear felt better than it does usually with no infection.
