Thanks for that Victor...
Looks like we have saved a 'few calories' there then eh !!
Cheers matey
Gordon . When your scoping the beer and wine at lunch time. You can go to the rest. and its not on show but if you ask they will bring you out a great selection of cheese and you can make a fabulous chesse and onion sandwich. This will stay in you. We had this most days. Have a good one.
Just one other thing !! The photo's we have all seen around the complex - the one that stands out in the Terrace area with those comfy looking wicker chairs Is that a lounge area or a nice quiet place to sip a few drinks and night ??

Gordon
We arrive on the 4th August.
There are seven of us. Thats me (Rachael), my other half (Dave), my mum (Rosemary)and her other half (Clive), my 23 year old brother (Matt), my 12 year old son (Daniel), my 15 year old daughter (Lucy) and her 15 year old friend (Carly).
See you there
More teenage girls for my Daughter and her friend (and my Son ) to mix with.
It's going to be a fair old HT get together
Gordon. Yes the general seating is mainly toa high standard and clean. But the terrace is good. Dont forget you cant buy booze out there. If you want drinks for the room. Give a tip and they will fill any size glass with vodka or whatever. We normally went back to the room with four glasses full up. Mixers came from supermarket down road.
We are flying down to Birmingham at night from Glasgow on the 6th - we have a 7 hour wait at the airport but didn't think it was worth booking a hotel for 7 hours My friend's family of 4 from Irvine are also going however they fly out the week before from Manchester!
I'm glad there is a good few brits going! Our hotel in Turkey last year was full of Russian and Dutch people which it made it very hard for us to join in pool games etc
Dont know if this has been answered on the recent reviews but either Shackyl/Julie/Victor could you tell me if you have to wear the wrist bands for the AI or do you have the small credit card type thing?
Debs
Hi Debs, Its the wrist band. I did not wear mine. Just had it in my pocket n case one of the staff did not recognise us. Once they knew you it was okay. there was a group of 16 from Manchester whom none of them had the on. Regards Victor...
Ive read on other threads about the 'Airport' at Sharm
I think we all know that 'Thursdays' is the Brits day 'in and out' How did you find the Whole Airport Thing ??
Organised Chaos
or just Chaos
Gordon
Gordon, on the way in its every man/woman for themselves as they make it hard to get in without visa stamps. On the way back its worse. My advice is when they drop you off and you enter the departure gates dont be put back by the hundreds of people who seem not to be in any queue. Just focus above their heads to the back of the hall where you will see the small screens which tell you the right check out desk. No one tells you where to go. If you stay cool you will find yourself in the right place whilst everyone is lost and frustrated. Good luck. Victor
As I understand it and I think as Pippa posted, if you are not going out of the Sharm area ''You dont need a visa'' was that explained or made clear anywhere along the 'chain' or do you still have to queue for some sort of paperwork
Gordon, we had to fill in a form when we arrived. Ask for it on the plane. You need details of your passport. Numbers ect. Its choas trying to get in and we were given the form when we got into the terminal. Pen??Passport ect???? Hundreds of arrivalls all doing the same. Get the picture.!!!! Your right about the visa. But they make you feel as though you must have it. I said l did not need it and they then got irritated and found myself being questioned and put to the back of the queue. So we ended up with visa stamps. Soon got through then!!!!! Its a rip off.Nothing to fill in on way back....
when we went to sharm in december it was not as bad on the way in as it was on the way out !! The queues were the same for visa and non visa, there were a few and you just tried to join the shortest one!!
we were given a card to fill in on the plane and you just write sinai only on the back and hand it in with your passport. The people who paid for visas just had a postage stamp put in their passports.
on the way back we had to sit on the airport floor and that was the queue which lasted for over an hour
Still it was all worth it for such a beautiful place !
Many thanks Yvonne n Victor - Thats put it all in perspective !! Be prepared for the worst. Still as you say Yvonne - it will all worth it in the end eh...
The arrival cards have a pink border, and have "Non Egyptian arrivals" printed in the top left corner.
There are cards to fill in on the way back, but these are given to you on the coach on the way back to the airport.
Victor 1 - what do you mean by no snacks eg burgers, chips etc? I thought that snacks were available as part of the AI, or if not what do you get for lunch? Is the brekkie and dinner ok?
Lunch is inside and only okay. But its so hot you dont fancy much anyway.
Dinner okay. Watch the salads. Many had upset tummys. Go and see doc right away. Dont think english medicines work. They didnt for us.
Late morning you can get pizza (cold) and cheese sandwiches.
Afternoons its more coffee and cake. My advice is think about how much you eat at home and dont overfill because its A1.
