make waiting to hear when I am going in 2006

Carol :)

I like your positive attitude - the 'when' and not 'if'......... keep it up, you WILL be going in 2006 :D :D

Happy cruising to everyone going next week :D

Hi Raych, I haven't returned to feeling 'normal' yet (if I ever did  ) and I've been back ages! Looking forward to your review - don't worry if it goes on a bit - we'll all be fascinated :D

Thanks to all who posted their photos - looks like you had a fantastic time!

I'm sad enough to have noticed that the Gala Dinner on the Melody was the same as the one I had on the Armonia - I brought my menu back and it's word for word the same! Wish I'D thought of having the lobster and the duck - the lobster was fine, but not as exciting as it sounded. Ah well, back to my own culinary efforts ...

Just got back from the MSC Melody and the guide on the bus said to allow one hour there and one hour back to Milan - but also to remember that the trains run every half an hour and you may just have missed one. So you need to allow at least 1½ / 2 hours to travel back. Also you'll need to check in about an hour before your flight.

ah - post cruise musings,

I know how you recently returned cruisers feel - I keep expecting to go into the kitchen and find a buffet lunch waiting for me to choose - or to return to the bedroom and find the beds changed, everything tidied up etc. etc. or as we used to say - "ooh, the fairies have been and tidied up" - story-book fairies that is, not any other type..

I personally have been exhorting MSC cruises to everyone. Take me back there, please....
:ghug :D

Same as here Seacruiser............I dare anyone I know to go on a cruise without at least considering MSC.

I think we have all been well impressed with the experience whether regular or first-time cruisers. They have done themselves no harm at all in the PR department!

Mike C, I can fully understand your excitement after reading the reviews! No doubt about it, you will have a great time!

I agree with Tony completely in that MSC have definitely received the thumbs up, so much so that I find it difficult to think of cruising with anyone else and I hunt websites daily to find my next cruise with them!

Three cheers for MSC!!!!!!! :wow

Some useful hints for future cruisers:-
Take a nightlight as if you are in an inside cabin it is really useful for nipping to the bathroom in the middle of the night. (And remember to bring it back - mine is still there!)
The shower is wonderful - very forceful.
There is ice in your cabin every day (the 1st day was the exception).
There is no charge for continental breakfast in your cabin.
In the blue folder there was a room service menu which stated coffee/tea was 24 hrs and complimentary however one of our group didn't have that in their cabin and was charged for coffee.
The buffet is crowded to begin with but is relatively calm after about 15 mins.
Take a couple of small water bottles as you can fill these up with the melted ice in your cabin.
The beds were in an L-shape and the room was very comfortable for one person.
The TV had only 2 channels in English - BBC World and MTV but with subtitles. There was a choice of 2 music channels on the announcement switch.
Take a couple of books. I was on my 3rd even after doing trips nearly every day.
The pools are refreshing (pretty cool) and there is always towels on one side near the table tennis table in a big container.
All the sunbeds have shades and the only time I had a problem with getting a sunbed was the day we were sailing to Ibiza.
There is a sundeck higher up but with no sunbeds. The reason was (seemingly) the captains quarters were underneath and he didn't like the scraping sounds of the sunbeds being moved about. (Couldn't he invest in a pair of earplugs)!
There is lots of smoking. As soon as you leave the restaurant they are puffing away while waiting on the elevator. One side is supposed to be smoking permitted but they just smoked everywhere. Not in the restaurants or the shows - but everywhere else. Even the officers always had a cig in their hand.
Take a comfy pair of shoes/trainers for your trips as you'll be on your feet all day.
Bring earplugs. There is always squeaks & rattles which will irritate you when you are trying to nod off - unless you've had a few.
Ladies, take a kaftan/lounge wrap that you can just throw on during the day for wandering around the ship.

Just starting to adjust to normal life again. The Melody was my first cruise but it won't be my last!!!!!!! To everyone still waiting, stick it out and get your cruise, you won't regret it. To me the Melody was sheer luxury. The food was very good with plenty to choose from and the staff were brilliant....so helpful. If you are going on the excurtions, take your water bottle to breakfast and either fill it with water or better still, try the fruit juice. By the way, the cigarettes on board are duty-free (about £12 for 200) so that does mean you can only bring back 200.....so they say. Good Luck to everyone still waiting.
