We have just arrived back from Atlantic Gardens. Anyone worried about the building work can rest assured that where ever you are put on this complex the building work will not distract you at all. We were in rooms 132/133. You can see the tops of the large cranes, you will see them move, but you cannot hear a thing!
Atlantic Gardens is a clean base. The rooms are nice and clean. You have a breakfast bar seperating the cooking area from seating area. New kitchen units with all basic cooking equipment. Two ring halogen hob. Microwave Oven and Toaster and a kettle. Neat bathroom with small bath and shower combined. Towels were changed three times a week and bed linen twice a week. We kept out maid busy with sand on the patio!!! which was cleaned five time a week.
Pool bar was OK, but seemed to shut early some nights you then had to go into a marquee where they had a small bar and little entertainment. (ELVIS impersonator was a nutter!!)
You can get some food at the pool bar but it is literally toasted sandwiches, chips, pizza, burgers, hot dog and not much else.
About a twenty minute walk away is the main town. Here you will find plenty of shops/restauraunts/pubs etc. You will be fine if you like CHINESE (god if anyone asks me if i wanna eat chinese tonight? I will SCREAM!!!!!!!)
A taxi back to Atlantic Garden will cost around 2 euros and 50 cents.
We found a nice beach about a ten minute walk away opposite the Atlantic Palace Hotel. Lovely sandy beach which stretches out into the sea, no stones or rocks to contend with. A smallish beach with two restaurants on it but well worth a visit.
Make sure you you visit the BAKU waterpark it is fantastic. We went twice. Pay 4 euros for a double boat and keep it for your day there. Make sure to go on the Dark Cave it is brilliant. Loads of water slides, but be warned the water is salty. You can get food and drink at the BAKU quite cheap. Also near the BAKU is the Market, worth a visit just to say you went there but all stores seemed to sell the same thing. Watches. glasses, jewelry thats about it.
We did the trip to Lanzarote on the Fred OLSEN Ferry, nice trip if you like boats. About a twenty minute crossing is all it takes you can then shop in Peurto Del Carmen, visit the beach etc. You get around five hours to yourself before coach leaves to take you back to Harbour for crossing back.
Ross the Rep at Atlantic Gardens was absolutely brilliant with the kids. My 6 year old fell in love with him (ROSS - Kirsty is still swimming without her armbands!!!) Natalie was a good help, organising our tickets for Baku and Lanzarote.
If the heat gets to you, you can hire a fan for about 30 euros, 15 for the deposit. Make sure to rent a parasol for the pool. There are none around it, you need to go to reception. 5 euros for two weeks, you then keep it in your room until you leave, and they give you back your 5 euros.
All in all we had a fantastic two weeks, please dont be put off by the building work as I can promise you that where ever you are put you will not be distracted by it what so ever.
Hi Donna .. glad to hear you had such a great holiday. Please do update our reviews page for us too when you have time:
Agree totally with Donna, A.G. is a brilliant place for a family holiday.
We asked for a room overlooking the pool and got the best -ask for room 269! Only drawback is lack of air-conditioning - it would be bliss if available.
Pool area is spotless, loads of sun beds.
First time we'd been self-catering abroad, but found it to be great - reataurants are lovely, especially La Tasca. Looks expensive but isn't and food is wonderful.
Quad biking was highlight for our 'boys' (Dad and son), but you will need at least a provisional driving licence. Kids can go too if they sit on the back of the quad. 2-3 hour trip with fantastic scenery for £28 for adults.
Correlejo is beautiful and certainly seems to be the best resort on the island, and it does host Baku, a brill waterpark.
The market is worth a visit, if only for the banter - assured the prices were 'better than Tesco'!
Girls, you can barter to get your hair plaited. Find Fatima and her sisters, about 20 of them!-on the main street and they'll do a full head for £20. Try getting that done back home for less than £100.
We had a great time, perfect weather thanks to the ever-present breeze (Fuerteventura means strong wind).
Entertainment was absolutely atrocious! Be prepared to make your own fun at night, but seeing as the town itself is so lovely, that was never a problem.
Returned very relaxed and energised.
Thanks, Atlantic Gardens.
Is the little French girl still doing the nightly entertainment? Can't remember her name but we had fun cheating at all the games she set up!!!
Did nobody try the food down at Blue Jeans? It is the best steak house on the island.
Anybody going to Atlantic Gardens on 28th September?
We may have 2 spare tickets and an empty apartment if anyone is interested in going on a cheap weeks holiday. 2 of the people in our group have not got their passports yet so they may not be going. Thomas Cook said we can change the names on the tickets up to 24 hours before we go so email me if you would be interested.
Anyway, I'm off now to start sorting some party music to take as the little French entertainer only has limited songs available.
Jason.
we were going to atlantic gardens at xmas, just received notification that we have been placed in another apartment, the bristol playa, looked at info , it appears to be ok there too, we were looking forward to going to the atlantic,
The building work can't be that bad. I was there last year when they started it and I know it only affects around a dozen apartments.
We were at the Atlantic gardens in July the building work was fine and youare right there seemed to be a very limited number of apartments affected by the building work. This was a really good place to stay.
Hello, I have been reading everyones reviews of the Atlantic Gardens and I am really looking forward to going this Sat.
Does anyone have the hotel phone number or fax number so I can ask for a pool view room away from and building work?
Fax 0034928866492
Have a good time and let me know which room you get if its a good one as we go in 2 weeks time.
Thankyou for the Hotel telephone information.
I managed to get hold of the number last night from sunset but when I called the hotel they said they had already done all the room allocations but would see what they could do.
I think they allocate rooms 2 week before you are due to arrive so it might be worth you giving them a call or sending a fax soon.
I have been told room 269 is a good one to ask for.
The room numbers beginning 2 are on the upper floor, the rooms beginning 1 are on the ground floor. You are right the rooms are allocated 2 weeks before arrival. Our room was 169 and it overlooked the pool, it was a good room. The rooms on either side of ours were also excellent.
Now I'm really looking forward to it. Haven't found a foul enough shirt yet but still looking (lad foul shirt night!).
Any news on cheapest price for quads? One person we spoke to last time paid £18 per hour!!!
No one else going 28th September?
Jason.
P.S. Wheres Laurie gone?
Is there nobody going on 28/09/05? I phoned the hotel and they said it is fully booked for that week!

Anybody else going the same time? Hopefully some other Scottish people as I dont want the "whitest man on holiday" prize!!

We were there in July, I don't know what kind of entertainment there will be for kids at this time of year. There are people who run pool games in the afternoon but I think the entertainment was quite scarce at the complex. The pools are great and the beach is a short walk away. You will both have a agreat time.
Enjoy.
:D
It sounds a great place and I usually end up being the entertainment anyway!
If there is water my daughter is happy and that water that has been turned into beer makes me happy so I am sure we will have a ball!
It just dawned on me, at the top of the street if you are going into town there are a few games compleses (open air) that have trampolines, crazy golf, cafe's etc that your wee one would love as well as mini amusements. You are alsoright beside the waterpark which has slides, the laszy river and a wave pool.
This is making me want to go back! My kids had a great timeand enjoyed hanging around the pools at the complex, they allow the kids to take in inflatables like dinghys etc.
Have a wonderful time.
We went to these apartments in July/August this year and are hoping to go back soon. Anyone else looking to book early next year???
To all you lucky people who have had a tour on my jeep to the wreck, i would like to say thanks, and to everyone else that is gonna book up!! you are in for a real treat! i am bringing over a real WW2 veteran truck to use, so look out for it in Caleta.
I will be running from Caleta mainly, but will do pickups from Corralejo if there is enough regular interest. Any more info required, then please mail me for website.
I have now aqquired a vast photo collection of almost all the hotels on the island, inside and out, with phone numbers and contacts at the resorts.
My website will soon be up and running and packed full of fuerteventura information that you just dont find on any other site!
Stay cool cats, and hasta manana!!
laurie cool!
